The Delaware County Fair begins today in Walton, Spokesman

The Fair runs through Saturday at the Fairgrounds in Walton.
16 year old Krystal Lee of East Meredith is working her way
up through the Country Music Ranks, she will be traveling to Dollywood in
Tennessee next month for the Josie Music Awards, after her video was nominated
from more than 23,000 entrants for her original song "No More
Sometimes", she visited WCDO this morning where she talked about upcoming
local performances before her trip to Tennessee:

Krystal was nominated for Young Adult Female Vocalist &
the Songwriting Achievement Award in the Modern Country Category; The Josie
Music Awards are on September 21 at Dollywood in Tennessee.
Firefighters responded to a blaze Friday morning at 427
Ouaquaga Road in the town of Colesville.
All occupants escaped safely, & no injuries were reported.
Firefighters from Harpursville, West Colesville, Sanitaria Springs, Five Mile
Point, West Windsor, Windsor and Ouaquaga responded. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The FCC today authorized nearly $16.2 million in federal funding through the FCC’s Connect America Fund, over the next decade to expand broadband to 8,088 unserved rural New York homes and businesses, the second round of matching funds being provided in a partnership with the state’s New NY Broadband Program. Providers will begin receiving funding this month. Locally, DTC Cable will receive $2,103,935 over the next decade to expand broadband to 712 rural homes and businesses at downstream speeds of at least 100 Mbps and upstream speeds of 20 Mbps
Delaware County sheriff’s deputies arrested 36 year old
Russell Fisher & 58 Year old Joseph Fisher of Davenport on various weapons
charges after they obtained & executed a search warrant. Deputies were assisted at the scene by State
Police explosives technicians, Deputies
seized fireworks and components commonly used in the manufacture of explosive
devices. Russell Fisher was charged with
criminal possession of a weapon, he was arraigned & was remanded to the
Delaware County Jail on Cash bail, Joseph Fisher was charged with the criminal
possession of a weapon and unlawfully dealing with fireworks
Governor Cuomo signed legislation to enact sweeping new
workplace harassment protections. The
legislation extends the statute of limitations for employment sexual harassment
claims filed from 1 year to 3 years, expands the coverage of the Human Rights
Law to all employers in the state; Updates the power of the Attorney General to
enforce the Human Rights Law; and Requires a review of sexual harassment
policies every 4 years.
State Police arrested 31 year old Edward Burnett of Utica
for Driving While Ability Impaired with child 15 or under as passenger and
Vehicular Assault. Burnett is accused of
striking and seriously injuring a pedestrian on State Route 8 in the town of
Columbus. Troopers working a detail at
a Unadilla Motocross event on State Route 8, located a 20-year-old male from South
Carolina unconscious, an off-duty Sidney Police Officer was on scene tending to
the victim when troopers & then paramedics arrived. The pedestrian was transported to St.
Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica & was listed in critical
condition. Burnett was arraigned in the
town of Columbus court & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on
$100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
Governor Cuomo signed 3 pieces of legislation expanding
protections for victims of domestic violence. These measures broaden the
definition of the crime of domestic violence to include forms of economic abuse
such as identity theft, grand larceny and coercion; give victims the choice to
vote by mail-in ballot, even if they remain within the county where they are
registered to vote; and allow victims to report abuse to any law enforcement
agency in New York State, regardless of where the violence originally took
place.
A portion of New York State Route 205 through the Hamlet of
Hartwick will be named in honor of United States Marine Corps Sergeant John
Kempe Winslow under legislation signed into law. The bill sponsored by Senator Jim Seward and
Assemblyman John Salka pays tribute to the decorated Marine who was killed in
action during the Vietnam War in 1969. A
formal sign installation will be scheduled by the State Department of
Transportation at a later date.
The City of Oneonta announced that there will be a special meeting
of the Common Council today at City Hall at 6:00pm; the purpose of the meeting
will be the approval of warrants.

A small plane crashed near the Tri-Cities Airport in Endicott
this morning at about 11:20 AM, resulting in 1 death. The name of the deceased pilot has not been
released, the investigation is ongoing.
State Police arrested 30 year old Scott Barnes of Norwich
for DWI with a B.A.C. of .16%, twice the legal limit. Troopers were dispatched to Wheeler Avenue in
the town of Norwich for a possible trespass on private property. Troopers located Barnes whose vehicle had
rolled down a hill and became stuck in a ditch, he was arrested & was later
released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Norwich court on June
20th.
State Police arrested 27 year old Trebor Hoxie of South New
Berlin for DWI & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, plus several other
traffic tickets. Troopers were
dispatched to an accident on State Highway 7 in the town of Unadilla, where
Troopers arrived to find that 1 vehicle struck a parked car which caused a
chain reaction striking four other vehicles.
Hoxie was transported to Wilson Hospital, he was treated and released,
he was issued appearance tickets returnable to the town of Unadilla court on
July 8th.
The State Senate passed legislation renaming a portion of
New York State Route 205 in Otsego County in honor of United States Marine
Corps Sergeant John Kempe Winslow. The
bill was sponsored by Senator Jim Seward; Sergeant Winslow was killed in action
on July 30, 1969. Companion legislation sponsored
by Assemblyman John Salka has been introduced in the state assembly.
The State Assembly has passed a rent control package this
past week, which normally only effects downstate renters; however Assemblyman
Cliff Crouch said that this rent control legislation can affect some of his
upstate constituents:

The State legislature is now into its last week of the
legislative session, a flurry of bills could be passed prior to the end of
session.
Industry Week has selected The Raymond Corporation’s Greene

SCORE OF 8-0. IT IS THE 6TH STATE TITLE IN SCHOOL HISTORY FOR DCS AND IT IS
ALSO THEIR 4TH STATE TITLE IN THE PAST 5 YEARS. THE JACKS FINISHED THE SEASON
WITH A PERFECT RECORD OF 23-0. THE COOPERSTOWN BOYS BASEBALL TEAM FELL 7-3 TO

State Police located a missing hiker early this morning, close to 12 hours after the initial 911 call was made. 58 Year Old Yi Sun of Westfield New Jersey called 911 around 12:30 PM Sunday, seeking assistance and was unable to identify where she was. Shortly after midnight, troopers on a roving patrol located Sun near the area of Routes 34/96 near Ithaca. She was transported to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment and her family was contacted. State Police, State Park Police, DEC Forest Rangers, and other agencies assisted in the lengthy search.
State Police arrested 30 year old Joseph Krebbeks of
Marathon for felony Aggravated DWI after he was stopped for failing to maintain
his lane, almost colliding with oncoming traffic. Krebbeks had a B.A.C. of .24%, 3 times the
legal limit; he was arraigned in the town of Greene court and released on his
own recognizance. He’s set to reappear
on July 11th.
An "Elder Law & Special Needs” Law Clinic is being
held in Oneonta today from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, for residents of Chenango,
Otsego & Delaware Counties.
Participants will get free 1/2 hour legal consultations at the Elm Park
Church at 401 Chestnut Street in Oneonta.
