Norwich City Police Department conducted a no-knock search warrant at 35 Pleasant Street as part of an investigation methamphetamine and fentanyl sales. 10 people were arrested on various drug & Criminal Nuisance charges. Arrested were 55 year old Todd Diamond, 66 Year old Charles Bates, 34 year old Todd Diamond, 52 year old Loreen Diamond, 27 year old Andrew Palmer, 24 year old Stephanie Donnelly, 58 year old Howard Grome, 37 year old Travis Foster, 42 year old Matthew Tiedemann & 29 year old Richard Garreau, all of Norwich. The arrests followed a months-long investigation into drug activity, investigators successfully conducted controlled purchases of the drugs, a search warrant executed Thursday which led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab inside the home. The State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team was called in to collect hazardous materials, Norwich Fire and Codes Department condemned the property.

Forecasters expected that the smoke from the wildfires in Saskatchewan & Manitoba will likely affect the Northeast & south to the Carolina's over the next few days. The fires have burned over 800,000 acres recently in Canada

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39 year old Richard Terrell of Afton following an investigation into the report of a stolen UTV from the Town of Harpursville. The investigation led Detectives to the Town of Afton, they were able to recover the stolen UTV from that location, the UTV sustained significant damage Terrell was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Mischief, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Terrell was taken into custody without incident and arraigned & was held without bail and is to appear in the Town of Afton Court at a later date.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 53 year old Robert Smith of Sidney, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol, and Operating a Motor Vehicle against Interlock Restrictions, and several other violations following a Traffic Stop in the Town of Unadilla. Smith was found to have a revoked driver’s license in New York State, he was processed and released & will appear in court at a later date.
An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held today at the Quality Inn on State Highway 23 in Oneonta from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, Appointments can be made at 1-800- REDCROSS, redcrossblood.org or on the Red Cross Blood Donor.
The Sidney Central School District announced the 13th annual Summer Enrichment & Summer Sports Camps, which will run from July 7th to July 31st, Monday through Thursday, The link to register will be found on our school district website. Registration is now open, and slots are limited, & will continue until filled or closed June 6th, more information is available at 607-561-7701.

Repairs will begin shortly on the Utica Main Line railroad tracks in Chenango County, following a meeting this morning among those involved in the reconstruction. Steve Craig of Commerce Chenango & The Chenango IDA Explains:

The $5.8 million dollar project will repair tracks that were washed out between Binghamton & Norwich during the 2006 flooding in the region. They expect to have trains running along the line by summer of 2017.
Governor Cuomo announced an unprecedented surge in last-minute online voter registration activity, prior to the New York State presidential primary. Between March 10th & March 20th MyDMV, the state's online voter registration system, processed more than 40,883 voter registration applications, including 20,889 from first-time voters. MyDMV also set an all-time record on Friday, March 18th with 13,961 voter registration applications received, including 7,128 from first-time voters. New Yorkers must register by March 25th in order to cast ballots in the upcoming presidential primaries on April 19th.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman reported that Yahoo Daily Fantasy Sports announced that they will follow New York State Law and will stop taking bets from New Yorkers on sporting events. The announcement follows Monday's agreement with FanDuel and DraftKings to follow New York's gambling laws.

The Copes Corners Park Committee of the Town of Butternuts is seeking vendors for its 2nd annual Spring Fest, to be held at the park on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Vendor registration forms are available on the park's website, copescornerspark.org or through town clerk’s office at 783-2905 or at 783-2518. The fee for a 12' by 12' booth is $25. All vendors must send the registration form and fee by April 22nd Organizers said that the event would feature family activities throughout the day, including music by Tumbleweed Highway beginning at 6:00 PM.
Troopers arrested 18 year old Gerardo Mendoza of Stamford, for Criminal Possession of Marijuana for allegedly possessing 115 grams of marijuana. The arrest resulted from a disabled vehicle stuck in the mud on the shoulder of I-88 in the Town of Maryland. Mendoza was issued an appearance ticket to appear at a later date.
Troopers arrested 45 year old Mark Donnelly of Port Crane, for Driving While Intoxicated, following an accident on I-88 in the Town of Fenton. Donnelly was issued tickets for DWI and unsafe lane change, he will return to the Town of Fenton Court on April 12th.

The family of long time Franklin firefighter James Wilber, has established “Jim’s Fire Squad” where they plan to donate toy fire trucks to children battling cancer at Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Wilber succumbed to a heart attack while responding to a call on February 9th tragically lost his life on the way to a call; he had served in area fire departments for 40 years. Legislative leaders and Governor Cuomo continued budget discussions yesterday as lawmakers said they would seek to add $500 million in state spending, $240 million of it would go toward extra school aid. Lawmakers said that revenue is higher than Governor Cuomo’s projections; lawmakers have yet to determine where the extra money would be spent. The budget is expected to be passed by the April 1st deadline.
A former Walton teacher, who was indicted on charges of rape and having sex with 2 underage students, has been charged again for those crimes. 29-year-old Stephanie Fletcher is charged with 2 counts of 3rd degree rape and 4 counts of 3rd degree criminal sexual act. Fletcher is accused of having sex with two minors under 17 between January and March 2012. The new indictment was filed on March 6th; Fletcher will be arraigned in Delaware County Court March 27th
Investigators from the State Police Troop C Violent Felony Warrant detail arrested 34-year-old Kalief Spriel on an arrest warrant, following an appearance at the Town of Chenango Court for an unrelated traffic ticket. Spriel was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 1st degree Identity Theft, Forgery, and Falsifying Business Records & Grand Larceny. Spriel was wanted in Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, he was arrested without incident & was turned over to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Boudreau is accused of driving under the influence of prescription drugs, she was released to a sober third party was ordered to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 26-year-old Jody Barnes of Franklin Thursday on 1 count of Criminal Mischief. Barnes is accused of driving a vehicle on the Franklin Central School Athletic Field on March 13th, causing in excess of $5000 damage to the Field. Barnes was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court and released on recognizance pending a future court appearance.

State Senator Jim Seward announced Senate approval of his legislation allowing the dissolution of the Montgomery, Otsego, Schoharie Solid Waste Authority. The bill also includes a plan for the distribution of the authority’s assets and liabilities among the 3 member counties. The bill has been sent to the assembly where it was introduced by area Assemblyman Bill Magee.
The Sidney class of 2015 will hold the 3rd Annual Faculty Basketball game at 7:00 PM tonight. Students will play faculty members in the High School Gym, tickets will be $3 a piece, the community Is invited to attend, prizes & gift certificates will be given out during the evening.
