The family of long time Franklin firefighter James Wilber, has established “Jim’s Fire Squad” where they plan to donate toy fire trucks to children battling cancer at Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Wilber succumbed to a heart attack while responding to a call on February 9th tragically lost his life on the way to a call; he had served in area fire departments for 40 years. A joint meeting of the Otsego County Conservation Association and the League of Women Voters of the Cooperstown Area will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. today, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 25 Church Street in Cooperstown. Otsego County Solid Waste and Planning Department director Karen Sullivan will discuss the actions taken by the County in dissolving its contract with MOSA. Sullivan will also outline the county’s plans for recycling, composting and other initiatives. The meeting is free and open to the public; more information is available at 293-6654.
