Delaware County Sheriff's Office Deputies arrested 52-year-old Stephen Kiss of Davenport, after Deputies received a complaint from a male party on August 8th, reporting that his landlord had attempted to unlawfully evict him from his current residence in the Town of Davenport. Deputies determined that Kiss unlawfully attempted to evict the renter by means of discontinuing essential services, on 2 occasions Kiss had turned off the electricity and the water to the residence. Kiss was charged with 2 counts of Unlawful Eviction, he was processed and released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Davenport Court at a later date.


The State Department of Health advised New Yorkers that nearly half of all overdose deaths in the state involve fentanyl. New York issued a statewide pharmacy standing order for naloxone beginning earlier this month, to counteract the effects of an opioid overdose, Fentanyl is 50-100 times stronger than heroin and is a major factor in the increase in opioid deaths over recent years.


Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27 year old David Showers of Port Dickinson, for allegedly slashing the tires of a family member's car & threatening the same family member with the knife. Showers allegedly disposed of the knife prior to being taken into custody, He was charged with Criminal Mischief, Menacing, Concealing Physical Evidence, he was taken to the Broome County correctional facility for processing.

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced that 47 year old Gregory Jackson of the Bronx, was sentenced to 3 years in prison along with 2 years of post-release supervision after he plead guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Police executed a search Warrant on Jackson's vehicle, they recovered cocaine and fentanyl


An American Red Cross Blood drive will be held in Sidney today from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Sidney Elks Lodge, 104 River Street. Donors can schedule an appointment to give using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that 40 year old James Williams of Port Dickinson was sentenced to 5 years in jail for a guilty plea of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Williams was arrested in 2019 after Johnson City Police executed a search warrant where Williams was found to be illegally in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.


New York State has updated driver's licenses and state IDs for the first time since 2013. The new look includes enhanced security features & anyone who applied for a new permit, license or non-driver ID card after March 10th will receive the new and improved card. Enhanced features include imprinted lettering and images which can be felt on the card's surface, more information is available at DMV.NY.GOV.

Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin submitted his resignation to Governor Kathy Hochul yesterday, after he was arrested following a Federal Investigation. The U.S. Attorney’s office said Benjamin was charged with bribery, honest services wire fraud and falsification of records. Benjamin was accused in an indictment of participating in a scheme to obtain campaign contributions from a real estate developer in exchange for Benjamin’s agreement to use his influence as a state senator to get a $50,000 grant of state funds for a nonprofit organization the developer controlled. Governor Hochul accepted the resignation.


State Troopers responded Sunday to a domestic incident that involved an attempted break-in at a residence on County Highway 54 in the town of Springfield. 37 year old Kenneth Carson of Springfield attempted to enter the home of a known acquaintance and discharged a firearm while outside, he is also accused of having illegal Ghost Guns. Carson was charged with Attempted Burglary, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Manufacture of a Machine Gun, Reckless Endangerment & Criminal Mischief. Carson was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $45,000 bond.


Binghamton Police & First Responders rescued a woman who jumped into the Susquehanna River shortly after 12:00 Noon Tuesday. Officers tried to persuade the woman not to jump into the River, from the Washington Street Bridge, she did & was successfully pulled out by the Binghamton Fire department rescue boats. The unidentified woman was taken to Lourdes Hospital for treatment.
