Today is Election Day, with the polls open until 9:00 PM tonight. Locally, voters will decide on who fills a seat on the State Supreme Court between Deidre Hay & Cheryl Insinga. In the town of Sidney, the 2 biggest vote getters will sit on the Town Board between Kevin Greene, Paul Muratore & Bill Hunt, In the town of Guilford Susan McIntyre, Gilda Ward & Thomas Quiter are running for town Supervisor. Many candidates are running unopposed for a variety of positions across the WCDO listening area. Voters can go to their county Board of Elections websites to see the candidates in their local races.
Attorney General Letitia James reminded New Yorkers that the Office's Election Protection Hotline is available through 9:00 PM tonight, to help all New Yorkers who need assistance casting their ballots. The hotline is available at 866-390-2992, complaints can be submitted online at electionhotline.ag.ny.gov.
The Chenango County Health Department is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for uninsured and under-insured individuals through the Bridge Access Program. This COVID-19 vaccine clinic is for 18 years of age and older, it will be held November 16th &17th, from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm at 5 Court Street Norwich. Appointments can be made at 607-337-1660.
The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce announced that their annual Toys for Tots Campaign is underway, to get Christmas gifts to Delaware County children in need. New, unwrapped Christmas gift in a Toys for Tots collection box located in businesses & organizations throughout Delaware County.

The campaign runs through December 8. Chamber staff will pick up the toys from member businesses on December 8 and deliver them to Delaware Opportunities, to provide distribution of the gifts to Delaware County families. Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42 year old Jason Ransford of South Kortright for Criminal Mischief. Sheriff’s Deputies received a vandalism complaint on October 31st, Ransford is accused of recklessly operated an off-road forklift causing damage to the property of another. Ransford was released on an appearance ticket and directed to appear at the Town of Stamford court to answer the charge.
The Otsego County Solid Waste Department, Otsego County Conservation Association, and Casella announced that the Film Plastic Recycling Challenge is back, where area schools recycle plastic bags and other plastic film items which cannot be recycled through regular recycling programs. The challenge focuses on collecting clean, dry, plastic film to help keep it out of the landfill. The challenge November 15th until April 24th, Winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2024.
Governor Hochul's office announced that work is officially underway to transform the Greater Binghamton Airport into a modern, state-of-the-art facility. The project calls for the Redevelopment of the Airport Road approach, Construction of a new canopy and entry portals, Reconfiguration of the ticketing lobby, baggage claim area and relocation of rental car counters, New parking revenue control system & the Construction of a new Customs and Border Protection Facility.

The State Office of General Services announced an auction of surplus vehicles, highway equipment, and miscellaneous property will be conducted on November 14. More information is available at ogs.ny.gov/nysstore, or call (518) 457-6335. The auction will be on Tuesday, November 14, at 9:30 am. at State Police Troop C headquarters on State Route 7.
New York will honor veterans on the year's 6th and final Free Fishing Day of 2023 on Saturday, November 11th. On Free Fishing Days, the state waives the requirement for a freshwater fishing license.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 32 year old Jentre Bergman of McGraw for Robbery. On September 23rd, Bergman allegedly went to a residence in the Town of German, where he forcefully stole a Harley-Davidson motorcycle by pointing a shotgun at the victim & fled the scene on the motorcycle. An arrest warrant was then issued for Bergman, who was arrested by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and held in their facility on un-related charges. Bergman was then transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office where he was processed for charges of Robbery, Grand Larceny, and Menacing, he was arraigned in the Town of German Court where bail was set at $5,000. Bergman was then transported back to the Cortland County Correctional Facility where he is being held.

40 year old Cory Kujawski of Burlington Flats was indicted by an Otsego County Grand Jury. State Police arrested Kujawski, for 3 counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, 2 counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child & 1 count of Criminal Sexual Act, he is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 13 on several occasions, he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance & was referred to Otsego County probation.
State Police arrested 39 year old Antoine Laporte of Buffalo for Criminal Possession of a Weapon after a Trooper observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed, The Trooper attempted to catch up to the vehicle but lost sight of the car, the trooper ended up finding the vehicle rolled over at the bottom of the East Branch exit ramp. Laporte walking on Harvard Road, he fled but was eventually detained, Laporte had multiple warrants for Assault and Larceny in Erie County and in the state of New Jersey, troopers also located a weapon in the wrecked vehicle. Laporte was transported to Wilson Hospital for a medical evaluation, he was released & was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.
Former President Donald Trump is set to testify today at his New York civil fraud trial, and threatens to cost him control of properties such as Trump Tower. His testimony in the trial of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit follows that of his eldest sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr., who testified last week. His eldest daughter, Ivanka, is set to testify on Wednesday.

The State Legislature has passed the final State Budget Agreement for the 23-24-fiscal year. In the budget, an Agreement was reached To Provide Greater Discretion for Judges To Set Bail for the Most Serious Crimes; There were no Income Tax Increases in the Budget, additional funds were approved for mental health care, abortion access, Capital project at SUNY & CUNY Schools, increases in the education portion of the budget & increases in the Minimum Wage to $15 in the upstate counties over a 2 year period to adjust with inflation,
Local government sales tax collections in New York state totaled $5.5 billion in the first quarter of 2023, an increase of 7.1%, compared to the same period last year, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. DiNapoli’s report found that sales tax collections increased by 9.2% in January and 14.1% in February, but the growth slowed to 0.3% in March. Collections for the counties and cities outside New York City grew by 3.3%, in the first quarter, with 50 out of 57 counties experienced sales tax increases during the quarter.
The Delaware County Board of Elections confirmed that, following yesterday's public hearing, a republican party primary will be held in the race for District Attorney. Joe Ermeti of Sidney will face acting District Attorney Shawn Smith in the primary on June 27th.

CDO Workforce of Otsego County will be hosting a job fair at the Southside Mall in Oneonta Today from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, spokesperson Kassidy Wright explains:

Price Chopper/Market 32 has issued a voluntary recall on a variety of PICS Grated Cheese purchased since December 2022, because they do not meet its quality standards. There are currently no known harmful side effects, customers can return them to their local Price Chopper for a full refund, more information is available at 800-666-7667. Also, General Mills is recalling certain Gold Medal Flour products due to potential Salmonella issues. The recall affects Gold Medal Unbleached All Purpose 2, 5 & 10 Pound Flour, with an expiration date of March 27 & 28 2024, consumers can return the flour to the store of purchase for a refund, more information is available at 1-800-230-8103.

Knapp was sentenced to 2 consecutive 25 to life sentences on 2 counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, the victims were under the age of 13 at the time the incidents occurred, in 2014 and 2015.
The next meeting of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce will be held this morning at the Sidney Golf Course. The meeting will begin at 8:00 AM.

Governor Hochul signed legislation to expand access to contraception by making it available over the counter & legislation to ensure that every student enrolled in a SUNY or CUNY college has access to medication abortion on campus.
Attorney General Letitia James today secured agreements from the nation's largest insulin manufacturers to cap the price of insulin at $35 per monthly prescription for uninsured New Yorkers for 5 years. An investigation by the Office of the Attorney General found that From 2002 to 2013, the average list prices for insulin products tripled, about 10% of New Yorkers have diabetes, about 464,000 of them rely on insulin every day.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 26 year old Tyler Rose of Exeter for 1st, 2nd & 3rd degree Assault, Unlawful Imprisonment, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Harassment among other charges, Deputies were dispatched to the West Exeter Fire Department after fire personnel located an adult victim with serious physical injuries, who was transported to Bassett Hospital with multiple fractures, lacerations and contusions. The investigation revealed that the victim was imprisoned at Rose's residence for days while subjected to continued assaults with a variety of tools and implements.

An investigation by the Office of the Attorney General found that From 2002 to 2013, the average list prices for insulin products tripled, about 10% of New Yorkers have diabetes, about 464,000 of them rely on insulin every day.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 26 year old Tyler Rose of Exeter for 1st, 2nd & 3rd degree Assault, Unlawful Imprisonment, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Harassment among other charges, Deputies were dispatched to the West Exeter Fire Department after fire personnel located an adult victim with serious physical injuries, who was transported to Bassett Hospital with multiple fractures, lacerations and contusions. The investigation revealed that the victim was imprisoned at Rose's residence for days while subjected to continued assaults with a variety of tools and implements.
