Commerce Chenango & The Development Chenango Corporation announced that an agreement has been signed for the purchase of the former SUNY Morrisville building that sits on 14-16 South Broad Street in Norwich, for the purpose of the development of a Hotel. Commerce Chenango President & CEO Kerri Green told WCDO News what is planned:

The site for the future “Hotel Norwich”, will allow for a 45-unit hotel in downtown Norwich with a large meeting space, and restaurant, the closing on the property is expected in August.
The Annual Chenango County Dairy Day returns to Norwich tomorrow, after being cancelled last year due to the pandemic. The event will be held at the Chenango County Fairgrounds starting with a parade at 10:30 and the event runs from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The Raymond Corporation in Greene announced that 3 West Coast authorized Raymond Solutions and Support Centers are rebranding under a single name to better deliver industry leading intralogistics solutions to customers and to provide expanded customized service and support. The 3 will do business as Raymond West Intralogistics Solutions. The newly announced Raymond West Intralogistics Solutions will cover 20 locations across 8 states including California, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Alaska. Governor Cuomo reminded New Yorkers that Open enrollment for the NY State of Health will remain open through the end of the year. The NY State of Health provides seamless access to affordable coverage at nystateofhealth.ny.gov.
The 'Get a Shot to Make Your Future' vaccine incentive is continuing to New Yorkers 12-17 years of age to get a COVID-19 vaccination, and win a 4 year full scholarship to a SUNY or CUNY school. Locally 14 year old Jordan Gallusser of Oneonta has won a scholarship through this program.

The Chenango County Health Department is hosting a FREE Janssen Vaccine Clinic at the Norwich Fairgrounds during the Dairy Day Event on Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 pm. No appointment is needed, The Clinic is first come first serve, 100 doses available, You must be 18 years or older for this type of vaccine & You will need to complete a health screening form before your shot & you will need to wait 15 minutes afterward. The Village of Sidney announced that the water will be shut off today from about 8am to noon from Sunset Ave to Circle Drive on West Main Street. Crews have been installing new water valves in that area.
Delaware County Public Health released their weekly COVID 19 statistics Thursday; they reported 10 new cases in the previous week, with 11 active cases, 6 hospitalized and 29 quarantined. Public Health urges Delaware County residents to get fully vaccinated against COVID.

State Police arrested 30 year old Patrick Jandrew of Lisle for 1st degree Reckless Endangerment. Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Grant House Road in the town of Lisle for a report of shots fired. An investigation revealed that after a dispute, Jandrew fired several rounds from a rifle. He then left the area in a vehicle. Jandrew was located Jandrew in the town of Newark Valley and he was taken into custody, he was transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. Troopers were also assisted by Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Delaware County Public Health reported 13 new COVID positive tests Wednesday out of 387 tested; they have 122 active cases, 8 hospitalized & 290 quarantined. They have vaccinated 1981 against COVID so far.
Chenango County Public Health reported 15 new COVID 19 cases today, bringing their total to 2686 since the pandemic began. Chenango County reports 88 Active Cases 322 Active Quarantines, 4 Active Hospitalizations, and 2439 Recoveries.
The Sidney Central School District reported 3 more positive COVID 19 cases. The district was notified that one kindergarten, 6th and 8th grade student have tested positive for COVID-19. The Delaware County Health Department has conducted an investigation and the contact tracing has been completed. There will be no change to the instructional model.
Governor Cuomo announced that the state has administered more than 8 million COVID Vaccine doses so far. Over 154,000 Doses have been Administered Across the state Tuesday, More than 1 Million Doses Administered over Past Seven Days. Vaccine Dashboard Will Update Daily to Provide Updates on the State's Vaccine Program; Go to ny.gov/vaccinetracker. Also, State Health Department announced that over 268,000 were tested for COVID Wednesday. With just over 8000 positive, for a 3% positivity rate. Hospitalizations continue to decline to 4600, the number in an ICU bed was 931, the number of ventilators is down to 583, there have been 40, 141 deaths from the pandemic.
Governor Cuomo & State leaders have apparently reached an agreement on legalizing marijuana in New York State. The final details expected to be included in the state budget plan, which is due on April 1st. The Governor has said in the past that legalizing marijuana could bring 350 million dollars a year in revenue.

New York Attorney General Letitia James called on Facebook and Twitter to take stronger measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 vaccine disinformation being spread by anti-vaxxers on their social media platforms. Joining Attorney General James are the attorneys general of Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
The Binghamton Police Department is offering a $1000 reward for information regarding a Shooting Tuesday night in Columbus Park that injured 2 people. Binghamton Police officers found the first victim near the Columbus Park basketball courts with gunshot wounds to both his legs, he was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, the 2nd victim was found in the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his wrist. They say he was taken to the hospital from the scene by a personal vehicle. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Binghamton detectives at 772-7080.
With the recent release of the $1400 Economic Impact Payment by the U.S. Treasury and IRS, Delaware County Sheriff Craig S. DuMond urges residents to be aware of the endless scams that are being committed through phone calls, text messages, email and other electronic means, including fraudulent websites. The most recent scams include fraudulent offers claiming to assist individuals in obtaining COVID vaccines, COVID-19 Stimulus payments, callers fraudulently representing themselves as representatives from Medicare, the Social Security Administration or IRS who may threaten you and demand immediate payment to avoid arrest or other legal action. You can visit the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office website for links that contain other tips or visit the various governmental websites to learn more about current scams.
