Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 36 year old Kyle Walker of Utica, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operator of a Motor Vehicle and Unlicensed Operator following an investigation. Deputies responded Saturday to an emergency call for service for a possible abduction of an adult that occurred within Delaware County. Deputies along with Delhi Police Officers were able to locate the vehicle that was allegedly being used during the reported abduction which had been traveling from the Downsville area to the Village of Walton, it was found that no abduction had occurred, however Deputies found that Walker had 19 suspensions on his drivers license. Walker was issued appearance tickets to appear before the Village of Walton Court at a later date.
The expanded New York State "Move Over Law" went into effect on Wednesday. The new law requires drivers to move over for all types of vehicles stopped on the side of a highway, not just emergency vehicles, the law was updated as statistics showed that From 2016 to 2020, 37 individuals were killed outside disabled vehicles in New York.
Dave Johnson of Unadilla has organized a meeting in Unadilla on April 17th, called "Introduction to Preparing for the Inevitable", with a series of experts on what to do before your final days:

Broome County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 49 year old Christopher Merwin of Chenango Forks following a domestic incident in the Town of Chenango. Deputies responded to a residence on Marshman Road, the victim informed patrols of repeated incidents of verbal and physical disputes, including threats on her life with a firearm, deputies submitted a request for an Extreme Risk Protection Order, which was granted by the Town of Chenango Court. While serving the order of protection, deputies located a loaded 9mm “ghost” handgun and methamphetamines, Merwin was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Harassment, he was taken into custody without incident, arraigned at Central Arraignment and remains in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.

32 year old Nicholas Durbin of Deposit appeared for a conference in Delaware County Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to Attempted Sexual Abuse. Durbin was accused of having inappropriately touched a 4-year-old child in the Town of Deposit between February 1, 2022, and April 25, 2022, while in a relationship with the child’s mother, he was sentenced to one- and one-half years in state prison, to be followed by three years of post-release supervision, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender upon his release from state prison.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that six villages were designated in fiscal stress under the Fiscal Stress Monitoring System. DiNapoli's office evaluated all non-calendar year local governments and designated one village in "significant fiscal stress," one in "moderate fiscal stress," and four as "susceptible to fiscal stress." None of the villages in the WCDO listening area made the list this year.
The Children's Home will hold a Foster Parent info Session today for those interested in bringing a foster child into their home. The session will be held today at the Guernsey Library in Norwich starting at 6:30 PM. More information is available at 607-765-9059.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to criminal contempt complaint, in the Town of Bovina. During the course of the investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies identified the suspect as 63 year old Glenn McGuiness of Bovina, who allegedly violated an order of protection put in place by the Bovina Town Court, by yelling obscenities at the protected party. McGuiness was non complaint and refused to cooperate with Deputies, McGuiness was charged with Criminal Contempt, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, McGuiness was subsequently issued an appearance ticket, returnable at a later date to the Town of Bovina Court.

Attorney General Letitia James today secured an agreement with one of the nation's largest insulin manufacturers, Novo Nordisk, to cap the price of insulin at $35 per monthly prescription for uninsured New Yorkers for five years. The agreement also requires Novo Nordisk to implement a program with pharmacies to let uninsured patients know before they pay that they are eligible for the insulin cap. Today's agreement follows earlier agreements with two other large insulin makers, Eli Lilly and Sanofi, to cap insulin prices at $35 a month for uninsured New Yorkers.
NYSEG officials reported that many customers were still without power this afternoon around the tri-county region, following last night's powerful thunderstorms. NYSEG Reported about 1200 without power in Broome county, about 600 in Otsego County, 120 in Chenango County & about 25 in Delaware County, as crews continue to restore power in areas that had downed trees & power lines.
After hundreds of calls to the Oneonta Police Department to respond to various Issues at the Town House Inn on Main Street in Oneonta, City officials have decided to try to shut the motel down, Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek told WCDO news what they are doing:

In recent weeks, Oneonta Police have responded to a shots fired complaint, there was also a fatal overdose there recently, among the 400 incidents reported at the Town House Inn. Mayor Drnek said that the Oneonta Police Department, like many others, is short staffed and can't spend many hours a week responding to the same location repeatedly.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded on August 13th, to a report of vandalism in the Town of Kortright. It was reported that someone had driven a bulldozer on West Kortright Church Road causing extensive damage to the roadway, on September 4th, Deputies arrested Robert Sargent for Criminal Mischief, he was released on an appearance ticket, for the Town of Kortright Court at a later date.
The Community Foundation for South Central New York announced that the Chobani Community Impact Fund Grant Proposal Guidelines are available online. Foundation Executive Director Tina Barber explains:

Delaware County District Attorney's office announced that 32 year old Nicholas Durbin formerly of Deposit, appeared for arraignment on a 4-count indictment in Delaware County Court. Durbin is charged with Sexual Abuse & Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, for allegedly sexually abusing a 4-year-old child on 4 separate occasions, he pleaded not guilty to the charges, and he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $50,000.00 cash bail.
The 29th annual Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival will occur this Saturday and Sunday, in East and West Parks, downtown Norwich, spokesperson Celeste Friend comments:

An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in Cooperstown today from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Clark's Sports Center, Schedule an appointment to give by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
The New York Hot Farm Pulling Series tractor and truck pull has been rescheduled for Saturday at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich. The initial pull date was scheduled for July 4 but was canceled due to weather. Gates open at 4 pm. with tractor pulls starting at 6:30 pm. Admission is $10 and previously purchased tickets will be honored. In memory of 911, all first responders will be granted free admission with valid identification.
Hospice of Chenango County will hold a fundraising Chicken Barbecue Sunday in Norwich, to raise money for their programs. Hospice Spokesperson Sarah Greene told WCDO News about some of the programs that the money from such fundraisers helps:
