State Police at Endwell responded to a reported armed robbery at Lupo’s Restaurant, in the Town of Union.  The investigation revealed a white male approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, entered the restaurant, displayed a handgun, and stole an undisclosed amount of money, the subject then fled on foot in an unknown direction. State Police request that anyone with information to call 754-2701.


A new audit by state comptroller Tom DiNapoli revealed that the state Department of Health’s Medicaid program overpaid health care providers by $7.8 million over a six-month period because of flaws with their computer system.   The Comptroller’s Office recouped about $7.5 million of the overpayments and took steps to prevent future payment errors, they also found 21 medical providers that remained in the Medicaid program although they had been charged with or found guilty of crimes that violate Medicaid program laws or regulations, the Health Department has terminated 20 of these providers.  A copy of the report is available at osc.state.ny.us/audits (http://osc.state.ny.us/audits/allaudits/093013/11s9.htm).


Following Governor Cuomo’s ambitious agenda laid out last month in his state of the state and budget presentations, state lawmakers have gotten right to work on the wide variety of proposals.  Assemblyman Pete Lopez comments:

Lawmakers have until the middle of June to tackle the broad agenda and they have until April 1st to pass a state budget.


The Chenango county sheriffs department conducted K-9 searches tat the Unadilla valley & Sherburne Earlville school districts.  The canine units searched for illegal drugs in school lockers, during the search a 17-year-old Sherburne youth was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, when a small amount of marijuana was located inside a student's book locker.  The unidentified youth was given an appearance ticket for Sherburne court on March 7th.


Mollianna's Mission has announced their (http://www.molliannasmission.org/) 2nd Annual Family Day Festival, which will be held Saturday, May 18th at 12:00 Noon at the General Clinton Park located in Bainbridge.  The Mission works to benefit families suffering from pregnancy and infant loss, more information about the event is available at familydayfestival.org.


The American Red Cross is now accepting nominations for the 4th annual “Real Heroes Breakfast” to be held at the Binghamton Holiday Inn on May 9th.  Nominations can be submitted at redcross.org/ny/Endicott or by calling  785-7207.


The 2nd annual Rock in the Park is in the planning stages.  The fundraiser for Chenango County Toys for Toys will be held on August 10th at general Clinton park, organizers are looking to sign up bands, more information is available at the “Rock In The Park Facebook page or by calling Jason Hall at 972-6526.


The Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Winter Fest Sleigh Rally this Saturday February 23rd from 1:00 to 3:00 at the General Clinton Park. There will be free horse drawn sleigh rides, hot chocolate and chili; a canned good donation is requested for the Bainbridge Soup Kitchen.

The deadline to submit a comment regarding hydraulic fracturing returning to New York, ended Friday afternoon oat 5:00 PM.  Thousands of comments were submitted over the course of the DEC accepting comments over the last few year’s, they may render their decision on hydraulic fracturing by February 27th.


Delaware County Public Health will be holding a Flu clinic on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 1:00 PM-2: 30PM by appointment only, at Delaware County Public Health, 99 Main St, Delhi, NY 13753.  Public Health has a limited supply of Flu vaccine for ages 3 and up, the cost of the vaccine is $25.00, and insurances will not be billed.  To make an appointment for the flu shot people must call Delaware County Public Health at 607-832-5200.  More information is available at the State Health Department website at: health.ny.gov/diseases (http://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/influenza/seasonal/)


Commerce Chenango announced that Development Chenango Corporation has been awarded $250,000 to establish a Main Street Grant Program in the Village of New Berlin.  New Berlin Mayor Terry Potter commented:

The funding from the New York State Office of Community Renewal will leverage an additional $84,000 from the owners of the 6 downtown buildings that will be renovated.   4 other Chenango county projects were also funded Sunrise Family Farms in Greene; the Village of Greene to conduct a sewer collection engineering study; DCMO BOCES & Golden Artist Colors.


State Police at Oneonta arrested 22-year-old Koby Marble of Oneonta for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. The arrest resulted from a DWI road check in Oneonta, Marble was issued tickets returnable in the Town of Oneonta Court on February 2nd.


State DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala will deliver Governor Cuomo's State of the State address in Norwich tomorrow.   The presentation will be held at the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus at 20 Conkey Avenue beginning at 11:00 AM.  RSVP is required at 721-8605.


State Police at Sidney arrested 21 year old Michael Brady of Long Beach and 20 year old Jeremiah O’Brien of Wantagh for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on Interstate 88 in Sidney, Both were issued Appearance Tickets returnable in the Town of Sidney Court on February 14th.


Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a one-car motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Highway 17.  24 year old  Sarah Stenuf of East Syracuse was traveling east when her vehicle left the roadway and struck the guide rail, she was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris to be evaluated and was released.


State Police at Sidney arrested 30-year-old John Barriger of Walton, for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop in Masonville, Barriger was issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Masonville Court on February 19th.


NYSEG is beginning a new round of stray voltage testing their service area, it involves hundreds of thousands of pieces of equipment from transmission, distribution, streetlight poles and traffic signals to substation fences, pad-mounted transformers and manhole covers.  Stray voltage is an electric current in the earth, or in ground water, resulting from the grounding of electrical equipment or an electrical distribution system. This testing is required by the New York State Public Service Commission.
