The General Clinton Canoe Regatta Committee decided that the annual event will continue to be held on the Friday Saturday & Sunday of the Memorial day weekend, Co-chairs Mike Kauffman & Chris Smith told WCDO News that Friday's schedule will be busy:

The 70 mile canoe races will be held on Sunday again this year & Monday will remain as a day off.
3 jurors have been dismissed in the Nauman Hussain Case in Schoharie County Court. Initially, 16 jurors were seated, 12 regular jurors and 4 alternates, The trial is down to 13 total jurors. 2 jurors were excused on Tuesday, 1 from breathing issues & 1 of them was allegedly high on Marijuana, after that Judge Peter Lynch told them he won’t tolerate jurors smoking marijuana before coming to court. Hussain is the owner of Prestige Limo, is charged with criminally negligent homicide and 2nd-degree manslaughter in connection with the 2018 crash of one of his Stretch Limos in Schoharie that killed 17 passengers, the driver and 2 people in a gas station in Schoharie,
School Budgets will be voted on next Tuesday May 16th statewide, Bainbridge Guilford Superintendent Tim Ryan told WCDO News that their proposed budget is 22.6 Million Dollars, with a 1.85% tax levy increase:

Ryan said that voting at the Greenlawn & Guilford school buildings will be from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 PM on Tuesday.
The Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 39 year old Leigh Murray of Patterson, New York, was sentenced on her conviction for Driving While Intoxicated, in Delaware County Court on Monday, Murray was sentenced to 6 months incarceration, to be followed by a 5-year term of felony probation supervision, she must complete a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with recommendations, her license was revoked, and she was ordered to pay fines and surcharges totaling $5,200, she must install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle she owns or operates.
Governor Kathy Hochul today issued an Executive Order to help provide aid to asylum seekers expected to arrive in New York as federal Title 42 immigration policy is set to expire on May 11. The Executive Order will provide the State with greater flexibility to procure the resources necessary for municipalities to support asylum seekers while also allowing the State to increase the number of National Guard service members providing logistical and operational support. The State continues to work with New York City on selecting appropriate sites within the city & not into the upstate counties, to shelter asylum seekers as they await legal work status.
The Delaware County DA's Office announced that 51 year old Terri Nocella of Downsville pleaded guilty to DWI in Delaware County Court. Nocella admitted to being intoxicated on October 18 2022 on the Case Hill Road in Franklin, she had a previous conviction for DWI. Nocella was sentenced to 5 years of felony probation supervision, she must complete a treatment program, her license was revoked & she was ordered to pay fines & surcharges of more than $2200, she muse install an interlock device on all of her vehicles.

The National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8:00 AM Wednesday.
Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 39 year old Leigh Murray of Patterson pleaded guilty to DWI in Delaware County Court. Murray admitted to driving at a high rate of speed on State Route 17 in Hancock after 2 to 3 vodkas in November of last year, she will be sentenced to 6 months in jail and 5 years of post release supervision at sentencing at a later date.
U.S. Senator Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced $5,196,000 in federal funding to develop and preserve affordable housing and invest in community development efforts throughout New York. The funding was allocated through NeighborWorks America, locally, Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, will receive $212,000 in funding.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of harassment occurring in the Village of Margaretville. During the course of the investigation, the complainant advised that 51-year-old Melissa Hull of Margaretville contacted her via telephone and made threats & came to her residence in a confrontational manner and made additional threats. Hull was arrested Friday, & an order of protection was also issued against Hull ordering her to stay away from the complainant. Hull was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
The New York State Department of Labor today released preliminary local area unemployment rates for January 2023. New York State's seasonally adjusted unemployment increased from 4.1% to 4.2% in January 2023. Locally Chenango County had 4.3% unemployment, Delaware County 5.1% and Otsego County also had 5.1% in January.

Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a State of Emergency, State Police are urging New Yorkers to avoid any unnecessary travel. High winds, rapidly falling heavy snow, and whiteout conditions, will make travel extremely dangerous.
NYSEG crews will continue to be out as the heavy wet snow is expected to adversely affecting trees & power lines. Earlier this morning, over 1500 Delaware COunty custoomers were without power, but that was rectified by about 8:00 AM. Columbia County is the hardest hit, with over 6,000 customers without power this afternoon.
The Norwich St. Baldrick’s Event will return to an In-Person Event on Saturday at the Norwich American Legion on Sheldon Street. More information is available on their website, stbaldricks.org/events/norwich2023.
