Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 48 year old Brad McAdams of Downsville for DWI, on October 3rd. Deputies were patrolling in the Town of Colchester when they observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane, they also discovered that McAdams had a suspended driver’s license. Deputies conducted a traffic stop, McAdams was taken into custody, a vehicle search uncovered a large quantity of cocaine. McAdams was additionally charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and several violations, plus Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await Arraignment.
The State Division of Criminal Justice announced a Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert, for 86 year old Janice Short of Vestal. Janice is described as a white woman, 5' 2", 145 pounds with black hair & Blue eyes, she was last seen on Tracy Creek Road in Vestal at about 5:45 PM Tuesday, wearing a White Knit Cap, Purple winter jacket, Blue jeans, White Sneakers, anyone with information should call 607-754-2111 or 911.
The State DEC announced the next round of the Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Grant program and the Municipal ZEV Rebate program are now open for applications. A total of $5 million will be available for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and $585,000 for municipalities to purchase electric vehicles for fleet use. A total of $5 million is available on a first-come, first-served basis to support the installation of Level 2 and Level 3 electric vehicle chargers, the DEC is accepting applications through February 27, 2026, more information is available at dec.ny.gov.
The Sidney American Legion announced that they will hold their annual Halloween Kids Party on Friday October 31st, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. There will be snacks, a costume contest & games for the kids.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 2-car accident on County Highway 26, 20 year old Tonia Massaquoi of Oneonta was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to stop at the stop sign, she was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unsafe Speed, Failure to Yield the Right of Way, Fail to Stop at a Stop Sign and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device, she was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Hamden Court at a later date to answer the charges.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an assault in progress in the Town of Walton, Prior to arrival Deputies learned that the suspect 41-year-old Jeremy Stafford was wanted on a warrant from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found that Stafford engaged in a physical altercation in front of 2 children, he was charged with 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, he was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Walton Court at a later date, he was turned over to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office on their arrest warrant.
37 year old Donald Beetlestone of Binghamton pleaded guilty in Broome County Court to a sexually motivated felony of to Attempted Kidnapping, stemming from a violent attempted abduction of an 8-year-old child on August 1st, at the Price Chopper in Binghamton. Beetlestone assaulted the child and began dragging her through the store, in order to further assault her, the attack was interrupted by a store manager and shoppers. Beetlestone was subdued and restrained until Binghamton Police officers arrived and took him into custody. Beetlestone will receive a sentence of 10 years in state prison, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision, he will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release. Beetlestone is scheduled to be sentenced on January 14th in Broome County Court.

State Police, the FBI and the State Intelligence Center, have arrested 50 year old Edward Connors of Endicott for making racially motivated threats directed at federal government employees. State Police received information that Connors made multiple threatening social media posts targeting current and former federal employees who are African American, Connors was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident, He was processed and taken to the Broome County Jail for arraignment after being charged with Making a Terroristic Threat as a Hate Crime. This case remains under investigation, Anyone with additional information is asked to contact New York State Police at (607) 775-1241.
Former Oneida County Corrections Officer Christopher Walrath was sentenced to 15 years in State Prison, in connection with the death of inmate Robert Brooks at the Marcy Correctional Facility last December. Walrath had pleaded guilty to Manslaughter as part of a plea bargain deal in Oneida County Court, the plea offer nullifies the original murder charge and results in a lesser prison term, instead of the potential 25 years to life.
Binghamton Police charged 37 year-old Donald Beetlestone with attempted kidnapping, assault, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, he is accused of striking a young girl with a bottle in a Binghamton Price Chopper on Glenwood Avenue Friday evening and attempted to forcibly remove her from the store. Police reported that a female employee heard the struggle and intervened in an attempt to stop Beetlestone, a male customer physically restrained Beetlestone until police arrived. The unidentified 8 year old victim girl suffered a gash on her forehead as a result of the assault, Beetlestone is being held pending future court action.

New York State has issued Air Quality Alert for area counties until midnight tonight, due to smoke from Canadian wildfires, The State Health Department reported that anyone sensitive to pollutants should limit their exposure to the outdoors until the Air Quality improves.
The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a search warrant in Binghamton Thursday, at 54 Rotary Avenue, they arrested Felix Califano on a variety of drug charges. Officers seized ammunition, a 12-gauge shotgun, $7,340 in cash from suspected drug proceeds, plus cocaine & Items used for packaging, cutting and weighing narcotics, Califano of Binghamton was brought to the Binghamton Police Department for processing.
State Police and local EMS responded to a 2 vehicle crash Thursday evening at about 7:00 PM, at State Highway 8 and State Highway 7 in the town of Bainbridge. an SUV driven by 79 year old John Kessler of Afton went through a steady red light into the path of a tractor trailer driven by 61 year old Neal Jorgensen of Guilford, he was unable to avoid striking the SUV. Kessler was taken to Wilson Medical Center, while Jorgensen was brought to AO Fox Hospital Tri-Town in Sidney. Injuries were not life threatening.
Former 19th District Congressman Marc Molinaro was confirmed by the US Senate as Federal Transit Administrator. Molinaro served one term in Congress, from 2022 until 2024, representing New York's 19th Congressional District, he was then defeated by Democrat Josh Riley in November of last year.
State Police announced that Trooper Anna Aulino of the Troop C Margaretville barracks, was released from the hospital Friday, her vehicle was was struck by a vehicle head-on in Delhi on July 11th as she was driving home after her shift, she suffered serious injuries. 71-year-old Roger Hadley of Andes was operating a pick-up truck when he crossed over the double solid yellow line into Trooper Aulino's personal vehicle, he was pronounced deceased on scene.
