Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 30-year-old Michael Vogel of Delhi, back on October 13th, Deputies received a 911 call for a suspicious vehicle located on Hoag Cross Road in the Town of Delhi, they found Vogel, who was found to have operated a motor vehicle with his driving privileges suspended, he was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and to have an active bench warrant out of the Village of Sidney for failure to appear. Vogel was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation among other charges, he was released & was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
The Delaware Valley Humane Society will be holding a variety of different fundraisers in the near future, after it was announced that they would not be a participant in the Staff Works Save A Life campaign like they did the last 3 years, Society Director Erin Insinga explains:

Morrison said that Reality Check Students will also be cleaning up cigarette butts in East & West Parks in Downtown Norwich on Saturday, which they plan to show to lawmakers to prove that smoking is still a significant problem in Chenango County, where 20% of the population is still smoking.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested of 41 year old Corey Maraglio of Davenport, on November 7th, Deputies received a complaint from a female reporting that her ex-boyfriend had disconnected the power supply to her residence in an attempt to unlawfully evict her in the Town of Davenport. Maraglio was charged with Unlawful Eviction, he was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Davenport Court at a later date to answer for said charge.
The CDC announced today that there have been a total of 28,999 cases of Monkey pox nationwide. New York State has 4144 of confirmed cases, about 14.2% of the cases currently. Locally vaccines can be obtained through the Broome & Otsego County Health Departments

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that more than $33 million in Community Development Block Grant funding has been awarded to dozens of municipalities for local infrastructure improvement and housing rehabilitation projects. The City of Oneonta will use more than $200,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to replace 30 water service laterals for low- to moderate-income households.
There will be 2 American Red Cross Blood Drives locally today. In Oneonta, a drive will be held from 12:00 Noon untl 5:00 PM on the SUNY Oneonta campus in Hunt Hall room 101C. Another drive will be held at the Walton O'Neill High School from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. 3 men were arrested for Criminal Mischief for allegedly
vandalizing the Oneonta Walmart on January 7th. Troopers were dispatched to
Walmart and Office Max for 3 suspicious males, after Employees from Walmart
told troopers that 3 men vandalized their Arts & Crafts area & then
attempted to enter Office Max. On
January 11th, State Police arrested 19 year old Devin Castillo of Walton
following a rollover accident in Sidney Center which also involved several
parked cars. An investigation revealed
that Castillo was arrested For DWI, he was implicated in the Walmart case,
police arrested Castillo, 21 year old Jamie Sophie of Unadilla, & 21 year
old Nathaniel Rubera of Unadilla, all 3 were released on appearance tickets for
Oneonta Court at a later date.
Members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Warrant Division
received a tip on the location of 31 year old Robert Kinzer, who had a warrant
for his arrest. Kinzer was involved in a
domestic incident in the Village of Deposit on January 1st, he fled the scene
before law enforcement arrived; Kinzer was charged with numerous felonies
including 1st degree burglary, 1st degree Robbery, Criminal Possession of a
Weapon, & Grand Larceny. Kinzer was
apprehended by Deputies when he visited his parole officer, he was taken to the
Broome County Central Arraignment, and he was released on his own recognizance.
The Village of Delhi Police Department arrested 25-year-old
Cheyenne Strong of Sidney for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal
Contempt and Harassment. Strong was
arraigned in the Delhi Town Court where she was released on her own
recognizance.
31 year old Christopher Bono of Norwich was indicted in
Chenango County Court on charges of 1st degree Burglary & Robbery. Bono is accused of robbing someone at
knifepoint on January 9th, and leading police in a car chase. Bono was ordered held on $100,000 cash bail
and remanded to the Chenango County jail pending additional court action.
The New York State Sheriff’s Association's members once
again voted to oppose legislative efforts to legalize the sale and possession
of recreational marijuana in New York State, Delaware County Sheriff Craig
Dumond comments:

This is the 2nd year in a row that the Sheriff's Association
voted against legalizing marijuana, as Statistics in states where Marijuana was
legalized, showed a significant increase
in marijuana-related traffic fatalities, an increase in aggressive violent
behavior associated with marijuana users & an increase in the sale on the
black market for marijuana.
Congressman Anthony Brindisi
announced the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is now taking
applications from local fire departments, through March 13th. Grant Money can be used for training,
equipment, vehicles, and other necessities for local fire departments. Last year, Congressman Brindisi secured more
than $2 million in Grant money for Fire departments, more information is

3 players and a labor leader who changed baseball's economic
model will receive the National Pastime’s highest honor in Cooperstown during
Hall of Fame Weekend on July 24-27th.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame’s 2020 Induction Ceremony will
feature Baseball Writers’ Association of America electees Derek Jeter and Larry
Walker along with Modern Baseball Era electees Union Leader Marvin Miller and
Ted Simmons. The Class of 2020 will be formally inducted during the event
beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 26 on the grounds of the Clark Sports
Center in Cooperstown,

Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond announced that an
inmate released from the Delaware County Correctional Facility on Tuesday
afternoon because of the new Bail Reform laws, was re-arrested and sent back to
the jail for 3rd degree Grand Larceny hours after his release. 21 year old Eusebio Jax-Mejia, who is an
MS-13 gang member, was initially arrested January 1 for Criminal Possession of
Stolen Property in Walton, for possessing a stolen vehicle from Dutchess County
and giving Walton Police Officers a false name, after his release Tuesday,
Jax-Mejia was arrested by State Police for allegedly stealing a vehicle from
the parking lot of the Delaware County Public Safety Building minutes after his
release from jail.
The Delaware Valley Humane Society wound up collecting over
$76,000 in December with their fundraising efforts with Staffworks. Shelter Director Erin Insinga told WCDO News
that the money will be used for their usual expenses, and they can now do other
much needed upgrades:

26 year old James Semidey was sentenced to prison Monday in
Otsego County Court, for his role in a May 2019 robbery & kidnapping of a
woman in Oneonta. Semidey pleaded guilty
to 3rd degree attempted robbery, he will serve 1 to 3 years in state prison, he
had also pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a controlled
substance & was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison, and both sentences will
run concurrently.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Tuesday to a
report of a utility truck overturned on State Highway 28 in the Town of
Meredith. A Sterling Well Drilling
Truck operated by 47-year-old Michael Lutz of Red Hook overturned & was
blocking both lanes. The investigation
revealed that while traveling around a curve, the truck exited the roadway,
re-entered the road, the truck skidded sideways and overturned. Lutz was not
injured, he was ticketed for unsafe lane change and failure to display a
license plate; He'll appear in Meredith Town Court at a later date.

police stated that 2 suspects have not yet been arrested, & the case is
still under investigation.
State Senator Jim Seward announced approval of legislation
to help increase safety for limousine passengers. The comprehensive package of bills is a
direct result of the limousine crash in 2018 in the Town of Schoharie:

Senator Seward co-sponsored 8 of the bills to ensure drivers
undergo drug and alcohol testing, create a state hotline for the public to
report safety concerns, and allow the commissioner of the DOT to immobilize or
impound a limousine with certain defects.
An agreement was reached to pass the bills by Governor Cuomo &
legislative leaders Tuesday.
Adirondack Films and Director Lori Bailey will hold an open
CASTING CALL Today for a new film project today at 2:00 to 8:00 PM at The

Property tax levy growth for school districts will be capped
at 1.81 % for the 2020-2021 fiscal year, according to State Comptroller Tom
DiNapoli. The cap affects the tax cap calculations
for 676 school districts as well as 10 cities; it still has the provision that
allows school districts to override the cap with 60% voter approval of their
budget.
City of Oneonta City Manager George Korthauer has submitted
his resignation to be effective February 7th.
Korthauer was hired in August 2017 to the position of City Manager. He
previously served as the City Manager of the lake resort city of Petoskey, Michigan
for 25 years.
