The State Health department reports the incidence of COVID 19 cases has remained steady, with the state positivity rate for those tested still slightly over 6%. Patient Hospitalizations have been slowly increasing, up to more than 2800, with almost 300 New Yorkers in an ICU & 116 on Ventilators, a 27% increase over a 7 day period. The total number of deaths in Hospitals & nursing homes is 58, 578 since the pandemic began.
Governor Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James today announced a major expansion in usage of New York State's Red Flag Law. Following an executive order and legislation signed by Governor Hochul, courts across the State have issued 1,908 Extreme Risk Protection Orders, more than doubling the number of orders issued since the law became effective in 2019. State Police have applied for 339 orders since the Buffalo Tops Supermarket shooting, that was more than 300% higher than the number of applications made last year, and courts have approved 86.5% of those applications.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 25 year old Ryan Decker of Walton Sunday, after Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at 72 miles per hour in a posted 55 mph speed zone. Decker was stopped & a check of his driver’s license revealed that his driving privileges were suspended in the State of New York. Decker was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, speeding along with other charges, he was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.
The Sidney Great American Food Store announced that they will be closing their doors soon, after many decades at their current Location. There will be a few changes in the coming weeks to many of the store's policies, more details will be released on the store's Facebook page.

State Police responded Saturday to the Canadarago Lake boat launch for a report of a missing kayaker. 47-year-old Frederick Mayock of Springfield, Massachusetts was last seen assembling a kayak at approximately 12:30 pm., his kayak and other items were later found unoccupied. State Police Helicopters & Divers responded, anyone who may see Mayock is asked to call State Police in Sidney at (607) 561-7400.
Oneonta Police & Emergency crews responded Friday night when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the James F. Lettis Highway, at about 6:45 PM. 54 year old Dale Clark was found in the roadway, he was struck by 1 vehicle, and was later declared deceased. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oneonta Police Department at 607-432-1111.

Famed "Star Trek" star & Author George Takei is scheduled to be a speaker at SUNY Oneonta today at 7:00 PM at the Alumni Field House. Takei is the author of “They Called Us Enemy”, which is a New York Times Best Seller, in which he describes his experiences of growing up in internment camps in the United States as a Japanese American during World War II.

open forum where town citizens asked question about the project directly to

announced that New York is holding Equifax accountable for the 2017 data breach
that exposed the sensitive financial and personal information of millions of
Americans, including 8.5 million New Yorkers.
Under the settlement, Equifax will pay a fine of $10 million to the
Department of Financial Services & $9.2 million to the Attorney General's
Office as part of $175 million to State Attorney Generals including New York,
and Equifax has committed up to $425 million to the consumer restitution fund.
American Red Cross Blood drives are scheduled today in
Walton & Oneonta. In Walton, a blood drive is being held from 12:00 Noon
until 5:00 PM, at the Watershed Agricultural Council, 44 West Street; In
Oneonta, a blood drive is scheduled from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Quality Inn on
State Highway 23. Donors of all blood types,
especially type O, are urged to make an appointment to donate using the Blood

Work is continuing on restoring water to the Hamlet of Mount
Upton, according to town of Guilford officials.

Fame Sunday at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown:
The inductions started with the induction of 2 starting
Pitchers, 1st up was Mike Mussina who played 18 years for the Baltimore Orioles
& The New York Yankees, who won 270 games without putting up some of the
gaudy statistics that other Hall of Famers did:

The 2nd starting pitcher inducted Sunday was the late Roy
Halladay, who died in a small plane crash in November 2017; on the baseball
field among his achievements, he authored only the 2nd no hitter in post season
baseball, his wife Brandy struggled through the speech, but believed her

Baseball Hall of Fame, 1st up was Harold Baines, who was known for his quiet

27 year old Amanda Lee Chandler of Oneonta.
Chandler was last seen about a week ago in the City of Oneonta and has
not had any contact with any family or friends, she is described as 5'5",
approximately 150 pounds, blue eyes, shoulder length brown hair with blonde
ends, she was last seen wearing a t-shirt, jeans and black sneakers. Anyone with information is asked to call
State Police at 432-3211.
39 Year Old Gary Nichols of Norwich was arrested officers
got a complaint of a trespasser going through a parked vehicle on Plymouth
Street. Residents chased the Nichols into a wooded area, Nichols allegedly
stabbed one of the people pursuing him, & biting another person. The
stabbing victim was hospitalized for 10 wounds to the head and torso. The biting
victim was treated and released from the hospital. Nichols was charged with 1st-degree assault,
3rd-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and petty larceny &
trespassing.
Joshua House is looking to add to their staff at their 4
Sidney locations; spokesman Dale Knowles told WCDO News that they are holding a
Job Fair today from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 at 10 Division street in Sidney:

Delaware County Sheriff’s Department Investigators and County Probation Officers searched a residence in the Town of Davenport in June, which resulted in the seizure of Marijuana, allegedly belonging to 20-year-old Rumael Soler, who was not home at the time. The Town of Davenport Court issued an Arrest Warrant for Soler, who was arrested Tuesday when he appeared in town of Davenport Court on an unrelated matter. Soler was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana, & Harassment in connection with a separate incident. Soler was arraigned in the Town of Davenport Court on both charges, and released on his own recognizance, to re-appear in that Court at a later time.
The Oneonta Police Department reminds area residents to make sure to be safe, with their homes & belongings. Police remind residents to lock up doors and windows of all vehicles and structures, Remove valuable items & cash from vehicles and never leave them in plain site, park in open well-lit areas with good visibility & Call the police if you witness suspicious activity.
