Officials with Spiedie Fest announced that all events at Otsiningo Park today are canceled, due to the storms in the area, The Meet & Greet with Kurt Angle is going on until 6:00 PM at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena, followed by the concert with John Waite & Tommy DeCarlo. All activities at Otsiningo Park will begin again tomorrow at 6:00 AM.
Train Traffic Along the Mohawk River Corridor has come to a halt today, following a freight train derailment in the town of Amsterdam. State Route 5 has been closed down as well to allow for easy access by emergency personnel. the clean up is ongoing & they hope to have train travel running again as soon as possible.
Norwich Police Department arrested 42 year old Jaswinder Singh of Norwich for allegedly selling tobacco products to underage minors at his A&R Smoke Shop on North Broad Street. Singh was charged with unlawful dealing with a child. 42 year old Harminder Singh of Norwich was also charged , they face court action at a later date.
47 year old Daniel Greaves of Endicott was arrested by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force after they executed a narcotics search warrant in Endicott. Greaves was charged with a number of counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance plus criminal possession of a firearm, officers seized Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Tramadol Hydrochloride along with scales & packaging materials used for selling narcotics, along with a Shotgun & $620 in cash. Greaves was taken to Central Arraignment at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.
37 year old Michael Salamey of Frankfort appeared in Delaware County Court Wednesday & a 2 Count Indictment was unsealed Salamey was charged with Grand Larceny for allegedly stealing over $360,000, by entering into a contract to improve property in the Town of Roxbury. The Indictment said that the owner of the property paid Salamey the money to install a septic system, underground electric utilities, foundations, and small homes & that the work was not performed & her stopped communicating with the property owner. Salamey was released & a conference is scheduled in Delaware County Court on August 21st.

State Police arrested 36 year old Joseph VanLeuvan of Shandaken, for Grand Larceny and 16 counts of the Forgery, after Mountain Ridge Excavation and Construction reported that several checks were written out to VanLeuvan that they had not issued. VanLeuvan allegedly issued 16 checks to himself without authorization, totaling $15,000. VanLeauvan was already incarcerated in the Delaware County Jail for another matter, he was processed and was returned to the Delaware County Jail.

National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies will be held this weekend in Cooperstown. The festivities start with the Parade of Legends Cooperstown at 6:00 PM Saturday. The parade originates at Lake Street and Chestnut Street, proceeds down Chestnut Street toward Main Street and onto Main Street to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Parade of Legends will feature more than 4 dozen returning Hall of Famers as well as Class of 2023 members Fred McGriff and Scott Rolen. The Induction Weekend will conclude with the inductions of McGriff and Rolen Sunday at 1:30 at the Clark Sports Center.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand introduced the bipartisan Ban Stock Trading for Government Officials Act, so that the American voters know that their elected leaders are putting the public first & not using their power to line their own pockets:

State DEC Officers have charged an unidentified man in Roxbury for illegally shooting a bear at the Stratton Falls Campground in the town of Roxbury July 10th. DEC Officers found the dead bear hidden under a swimming pool in a backyard on the property, the man admitted to shooting the bear as it was walking by his home. The unidentified man was charged with shooting and killing a bear illegally, killing a bear out of season, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, the tickets are returnable to the Town of Roxbury Court.
The Delaware County IRT Military Medical program concluded on Wednesday, after 9 days of services offered for free at the Walton High School. The military was able to serve 1,079 patients, performing 7,181 procedures for a total cost savings to the community of $585,141.81. Delaware County Director of Planning & Watershed Affairs Director Shelly Johnson Bennett said that Delaware County will apply again in the future to bring these needed Medical, Dental, Vision & Veterinary services back to the County.
The Oneonta RC Flyers will have an open house Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM in Milford. The event will be held at the Milford BOCES Field, there will be demonstrations of a variety of radio controlled aircraft, more information is available at ONEONTARCFLYERS.Com.

43 year old Thomas Stanley of New Berlin appeared in Delaware County Court Thursday & was arraigned on a sealed indictment. The 6 count indictments was unsealed, the Indictment alleges that Stanley intended to sell the heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine that was discovered in the trunk of a car on April 30, 2023, in the Village of Sidney. After being arraigned, Stanley was released from custody under the supervision of the Delaware County Probation Department, each of the felonies carry a maximum 9-year sentence. The Village of Sidney Police arrested Stanley Thursday for 3 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 26 year old Patrick Proefriedt of Nineveh following a domestic dispute at 2208 State Route 41, where he shot his wife Eleanor Carey & their 3 week old baby daughter with a crossbow, killing the infant. Proefreidt left the scene put was apprehended about an hour later, Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar commented at a press conference this afternoon.

Sheriff Akshar said that there was a history of domestic violence with Proefriedt & his wife, and there was an active Stay Away Order of Protection in place. he was scheduled to be arraigned tonight at 8:00 PM.

Governor Hochul, & State Leaders today announced New York State's "ConnectALL" Office has been allocated more than $664 million in funding from the federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program. The allocation will be used primarily for providing fiber optic infrastructure to locations in New York that currently have no broadband service.
Oneonta Officials announced that a possible delay for opening the pool later this week. The pool was expected to be opened Wednesday, but equipment issues could delay that, more information is available by calling the Recreation Office at 607-432-0680.
About 2 dozen people have been stricken statewide with a food parasite illness recently, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The outbreak is from a parasite called Cyclospora that has recently sickened people across 22 states, with 30 hospitalized. Cyclospora usually spreads through Produce that has been contaminated with feces, symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, bloating, nausea and fatigue. The CDC traced an outbreak in Georgia and Alabama to a tainted batch of broccoli, but the latest cases could be from different sources in the other states reporting cases of the sickness.
