Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 26 year old Jacob Roman of Walton with 2 counts of Grand Larceny, and 1 count of Burglary, On October 18th, Deputies were dispatched to Benton Avenue in the Village of Walton for a reported Burglary in Progress where they located, identified and arrested Roman. On November 21st, Deputies located and arrested Roman on new charges after it was alleged that he had taken the victim’s credit card and made numerous purchases on the card which amounted to over $1,500 without authorization. Roman was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

Green admitted that he possessed, distributed, and conspired to distribute large quantities of fentanyl, heroin & Methamphetamine in and around Broome County, he also admitted to possessing 3 handguns and 2 AK-47 style weapons to further his drug-trafficking activities, while being prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous convictions, & conspiring to launder his drug-trafficking proceeds. Green was sentenced to a 19 year prison term, concurrent 3 and 5-year terms of post-release supervision, and a money judgment of over $185,000 of unrecovered proceeds from his drug trafficking. Co-conspirator Michael Jacobs of Endicott, was previously sentenced to 10 years and 10 months term of imprisonment & 5 years of post-release supervision.

21 year old Joziah Worthington was sentenced following his convictions after trial in Broome County Court, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd & 3rd Degree, to 9 years in a State Correctional Facility with 5 years of post-release supervision for 1 charge, and 7 years in prison with 3 years of post-release supervision for other charge, to run concurrently. Worthington was arrested by state Police in 2024 in Johnson City, for illegally possessing a firearm as well as a large capacity ammunition feeding device capable of accepting 31 rounds, loaded with 25 rounds, Worthington’s DNA being found on the firearm.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded on August 20th, to a 2 car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Sidney, in which one driver had reportedly left the scene. With the assistance of the Village of Sidney Police Department, the driver was identified as 38-year-old Joshua Crisell of Sidney, and the vehicle was located at a residence in Sidney. Deputies charged Crisell with Reckless Driving, driving to left of pavement markings, failure to keep right and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, Crisell was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Sidney Town Court at a later date.

State Police issued 109 tickets during a four-hour long Operation Hard Hat detail within a work zone on Interstate 81 in the town of Chenango Thursday. The detail was a combined effort with the State Police and the Broome County Sheriff’s Department, Crews from the DOT were repairing the bridge rail over Front Street. The area is a 55mph zone and just the left lane was closed, while two others were still open to accommodate traffic. Troopers charged 27 for using cell phones while driving, 36 for speeding, 27 for no seat belt, 19 other cvarious tickets were issued.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 50 year old Adam Zuk of Masonville for his non-compliance to Family Court Order of Protection. On August 18th, Deputies o served Zuk with a Delaware County Family Court Order of Protection, he was advised that he needed to vacate the property, Zuk failed to comply, he was charged with Criminal Contempt, he was processed, arraigned & was released on his own recognizance. On August 20th, Deputies were advised that Zuk had attempted to make telephone contact with the protected party, he was charged with Criminal Contempt, he was arraigned and was being held at the Delaware County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail and $10,000 bond.

Jeremiah Raub was found guilty by a Broome County Jury today for 1 count of 2nd-degree murder and 2 counts of 1st-degree arson, in connection with a 2011 Binghamton fire that killed 17 year old Jeffrey Aissa. 6 people escaped the blaze, Aissa died inside the house. The 1st trial for Raub ended when the jury could not reach a verdict, he will be sentenced at a later date in Broome County Court.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 48 year old Jason Fowlston of Sherburne for Overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals, after a report that he physically abused a dog in his home. A brief investigation uncovered evidence that Fowlston repeatedly kicked the dog, he was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Village of Sherburne Court at a later date.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded Saturday to a report of a burglary on Boswell Hill Road in the Town of Union. The homeowner spotted 2 individuals with flashlights inside his house with his home security camera system and called 911. Deputies, with State Police, located the 2 suspects, they fled into a wooded area, but were apprehended. Arrested were 43 year old Matthew Ortloff of Chenango Forks, & 45 year old Jeremiah Johnson of Endicott. The pair were charged with Burglary, Conspiracy, Possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief, along with seve4ral other related charges, they were arraigned and remain in custody at the Broome County Correctional Facility.
Delaware County Department of Public Works has received reports from a Village of Walton resident that twice now an individual with a laminated “County Tag” has knocked on her door requesting access to her basement to check her water meters. The County does not have a water department, so we will never be asking to check water meters. If you experience a similar situation, we encourage you to report it to your local village office and law enforcement.

On May 24th, Waddell and another individual, unlawfully entered the home of his ex-girlfriend on Morgan Road in Binghamton, which violated a No Contact Order of Protection, Waddell assaulted another man, causing physical injuries, When officers attempted to arrest him, Waddell also attacked a Binghamton Police Officer, injuring the officer, at the Broome County Jail on June 24th, Waddell made a recorded phone call to a protected party. Waddell will be sentenced to 6 1/2 years in State Prison, followed by 4 years of post-release supervision.

During the annual Colorscape Chenango festival on September 7th, the Chenango County Historical Society will again host a series of tours featuring historically significant community spaces. Norwich City officials announced Sunday that the Boil water was lifted, after announcing that E. coli bacteria was found in the City water supply late last week. E. coli bacteria were found in 1 out of 11 drinking water samples collected on August 6th, Coliform bacteria were found in 3 out of 11 drinking water samples collected. The State Department of Health considers any confirmed E. coli positive sample as a public health hazard and a violation of drinking water standards. After repeated sampling, the results meet the minimum standards for public water supplies, If residents experience some discoloring in the water, run the water until it clears. Any questions contact the Chenango County Health Department at 607-337-1673.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a bomb threat Tuesday at about 1:00 PM that was made to Community Bank on State Highway 23 in the Town of Norwich. The building which included Community Bank, a Mirabito Gas Station, and Dunkin Donuts were quickly evacuated. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and State Police responded and secured the scene, a State Police Explosives Detection Canine conducted a thorough search of the entire premises and did not locate any signs of any explosive devices, it was determined that there was no threat to the public and the businesses were back open at approximately 4:00 pm. The investigation to who made the threat is still ongoing.

52 year-old Terrell Heyward was sentenced to 21 years to life in prison today in Broome County Court. On January 11th, Heyward shot 54 year-old Sarah Hauer in the back of the head at the Woodburn Court apartment building on Exchange Street. The District Attorney's Office contended that Heyward was frustrated that his girlfriend, who was a friend of Hauer’s, wouldn’t see him. When Hauer told Heyward that his girlfriend was unavailable, he shot Hauer and fled these, leaving her to die.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 37 year old Mohamad Haidar of Decatur, following an investigation into repeated domestic violence. Haidar was charged with Predatory Sexual Assault, plus multiple counts of 1st degree & 3rd degree Rape, 1st & 3rd degree Criminal Sexual Act, Assault, Stalking, Labor Trafficking, unlawful inprisonment, Strangulation, Criminal possession of a weapon & Overdriving, torturing, failure to provide proper sustenance for animals. Investigators were contacted by victims who reported sustaining severe abuse for several years while living with Haidar, where they were forced to live at the residence and submit to extreme abuse which often resulted in serious physical injury. Haidar was taken in to custody without incident, a search warrant was executed & evidence was seized. The Susquehanna SPCA removed numerous animals. Haidar was processed and was lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility for Arraignment, the investigation is on-going and additional charges are pending. 35 year old Natasha Reed of Hamden was indicted on 2 counts by a Delaware County Grand Jury for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Reed allegedly possessed over 500 milligrams of cocaine, on November 26, 2024, Deputies conducted a traffic stop and found Reed to have a suspended license, officers seized cocaine and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle.

State Police, the FBI and the State Intelligence Center, have arrested 50 year old Edward Connors of Endicott for making racially motivated threats directed at federal government employees. State Police received information that Connors made multiple threatening social media posts targeting current and former federal employees who are African American, Connors was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident, He was processed and taken to the Broome County Jail for arraignment after being charged with Making a Terroristic Threat as a Hate Crime. This case remains under investigation, Anyone with additional information is asked to contact New York State Police at (607) 775-1241.
State Police, the FBI and the State Intelligence Center, have arrested 50 year old Edward Connors of Endicott for making racially motivated threats directed at federal government employees. State Police received information that Connors made multiple threatening social media posts targeting current and former federal employees who are African American, Connors was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident, He was processed and taken to the Broome County Jail for arraignment after being charged with Making a Terroristic Threat as a Hate Crime. Former Oneida County Corrections Officer Christopher Walrath was sentenced to 15 years in State Prison, in connection with the death of inmate Robert Brooks at the Marcy Correctional Facility last December. Walrath had pleaded guilty to Manslaughter as part of a plea bargain deal in Oneida County Court, the plea offer nullifies the original murder charge and results in a lesser prison term, instead of the potential 25 years to life.

Officers seized ammunition, a 12-gauge shotgun, $7,340 in cash from suspected drug proceeds, plus cocaine & Items used for packaging, cutting and weighing narcotics, Califano of Binghamton was brought to the Binghamton Police Department for processing.

Broome County Sheriff’s Road Patrol responded Thursday night to a dispute near the Speedway gas station on Route 12 in the Town of Chenango, deputies located a motorcycle still running, which had struck a fence and became disabled. Witnesses reported that the driver left the scene and was hiding nearby, Deputies located 46 year old David Osborn of Frankfort, he was transported to UHS Wilson Hospital for treatment of his injures, failed a sobriety test, he became uncooperative with hospital staff and Officers, Osborn had a suspended driver’s license, no motorcycle license and multiple outstanding warrants, the motorcycle was stolen from Binghamton. Osborn was charged with DWI, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & 7 traffic violations, he was ordered to appear in Town of Chenango Court following his discharge from medical care.
The State Health Department reported the 1st cases of the West Nile virus has been reported in Onondaga County. The individual is an elderly adult from Cicero, who was hospitalized but has since been discharged and is recovering. Additionally, the first Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus detection in mosquitoes this season has also been reported in Cicero. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 27 year old Derek Mead of Walton for with 1 count each of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Assault and Unlawful Imprisonment, following the investigation into a domestic dispute last Tuesday in the Village of Walton. Mead is accused of being involved in a physical domestic dispute with another person while a child was present. Early Tuesday morning, deputies responded to report of a burglary on Colesville Road in the Town of Kirkwood. Upon arrival, they found a man, later identified as the property owner, standing near a pickup truck and pointing a handgun at another man, who was dressed in dark clothing and wearing what appeared to be a mask. Both the property owner and the other man complied with verbal commands from law enforcement, they determined that the property owner discovered a masked man, confronted him & pointed his legally registered handgun at him and called 911. Multiple buildings and a vehicle were damaged and broken into, Wyckoff possessed a screwdriver, pliers and methamphetamine. Wyckoff faces court action shortly.

63 year old Daniel Schultz of Margaretville was sentenced to 6 months in the Delaware County Correctional Facility to be followed by 3 years of a conditional discharge for the crime of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child in the Vehicle, commonly known as Leandra’s Law. On August 10, 2024, a State Trooper observed a pickup truck operated by Daniel Schultz, Schultz’s license had previously been revoked, a traffic stop was initiated, Schultz stopped the vehicle, a passenger quickly exited the truck, who was under the age of 16. Schultz failed sobriety testing & was charged with several crimes, Schultz pleaded guilty, Schultz was sentenced in Delaware County Court last week, his license was revoked, and if he obtains a license, he will need to install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle he owns or operates. If he violates any condition of his conditional discharge, he could be re-sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in state prison.
The City of Oneonta announced a Traffic Alert regarding the Lettis Highway Lane Closures. On September 4, 2024, deputies executed a search warrant in Walton on suspicion of drug trafficking. A forcible entry was made, and deputies arrested Pankiewicz, among other suspects. During the search, methamphetamine, fentanyl, packaging materials, scales, and a rifle were seized. If Pankiewicz fails to abide by the terms of his probation, he faces up to 2 1/2 years in state prison.
29 year old Tyler Long of Sidney was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison in Delaware County Court this week, for failing to abide by the terms of the Sex Offender Registry. Long had previously pleaded guilty to Failure to Register an Internet Account. Last July, the Delaware County Probation advised Sidney Police Department that Long had 6 separate unregistered email accounts that he failed to report to the Probation Department, Long’s probation supervision was terminated, and Long was sentenced to a prison term of 1 to 3 years.
Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Sunday to a weapons complaint in the Town of Maine. Deputies located a female victim bleeding from her neck and proceeded with medical aid until Emergency Medical Services transported her to UHS Wilson hospital. 27 year old Shamirah Hauer of Port Crane, had been assisting the victim with putting in hair extensions for nearly an hour before she began to strike the victim with her fists and a pair of scissors, a 3rd party stopped the assault, Hauer left the scene, the male witness called 911. Vestal Police and State Police assisted & Hauer was taken into custody without further incident, she was charged with 1st degree Assault,m she was arraigned & was being held at the Broome County Correctional Facility.

Broome County District Attorney's Office announced that 21 year old Lavar McDaniel was sentenced in Broome County Court to 8 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post release supervision, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The prison sentence will be followed by 3 years of post-release supervision, on July 4, 2024, he Binghamton Police observed a vehicle with all the brake lights activated and the engine running, they found McDaniel slumped over the steering wheel, he was also wanted on an active arrest warrant, a search of the vehicle revealed a digital scale, narcotics, a firearm, and a firearm magazine. 2 years were added to McDaniels sentence following a assault of another inmate in the Broome County Correctional Facility.

An Endicott man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into illegal cigarette sales in the Village of Endicott by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force. On February 14th, the Broome County SIU executed a search warrant at Crown Fried Chicken, in Endicott, they seized 3,204 pack of Untaxed Cigarettes, $1,936 in US Currency, 69 year old Jamshaid Ahmad of Endicott was charged with Criminal Tax Fraud, Possession/Transport for Sale of Unstamped/ Unlawfully Stamped Cigarettes, the seized cigarettes represent approximately $17,141.40 in evaded New York State taxes.
