Governor Kathy Hochul has directed State Agencies to deploy additional assets to downstate regions devastated by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.  Governor Hochul said that the storm pounded the Hudson Valley, New York City & Long Island with More than 8 Inches of Rain, which led to Flash Floods, Power Outages and the shutdown of Mass Transit systems throughout the region.  The Governor said that President Biden has promised to send all resources necessary, with FEMA teams ready to respond shortly.


About $11.5 million dollars in federal funding will be distributed to fire departments across the State. The funding will be used to provide protective gear, training, and supplies to emergency personnel across more than ninety fire departments. This federal funding was administered through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant, Locally, in this round of funding, the Milford Fire department will receive over $40,000 in funding, and Richfield Springs will receive over $48,000.

The Sidney Rotary Club & the Cullman Child Development Center will hold a "Family of Heroes" Event for area Children on Sunday September 12th at the Sidney Veteran's Memorial Park, spokesman Larry Halbert explains:

Halbert said that the Event was scheduled in July & was postponed due to the weather, the event on the 12th runs from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.


Delaware County Probation Officers & Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 25 year old Joseph Hahn of Walton after discovering a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia within his residence.   Deputies charged Hahn with criminal possession of a controlled substance; he was released on an appearance ticket for Town of Walton Court at a later date.

The New York State Senate and Assembly have approved the extension of the eviction moratorium until January 15th; the vote was 38-19 in the Senate. 80-60 in the Assembly. The bill will head to Governor Kathy Hochul's desk to be signed.


Governor Kathy Hochul announced the start of the 2021 fall foliage season in New York State. To help travelers and foliage enthusiasts plan a fall getaway, I LOVE NY will begin issuing its weekly fall foliage reports on Wednesday, September 8, New this year, I LOVE NY is introducing an enhanced, interactive map that tracks weekly foliage change across the state throughout the season, the map is located on the I LOVE NY foliage website.


The State Health Department announced COVID 19 numbers for Tuesday.  Over 146,000 tests were Reported, with over 4600 testing positive, or 3.15% of all tested.  Patient Hospitalization continue to climb, to 2,285, ICU Patients went up slightly to 493; the number on ventilators is back up to 250.


The Appalachian Regional Commission announced today approval of a grant in the amount of $150,000 to the Rural Health Network of South Central New York for the GetThere Transportation to Employment Program.   The GetThere Transportation to Employment Program will provide short-term transportation assistance to individuals who are not able to afford the cost of transportation at the beginning of employment.

The State Health Department reports that 95% of Recent COVID Positive tests are linked to the Delta Variant. So far, More Than 23 Million Vaccine Shots have been delivered Statewide, with over 52,000 Vaccine Doses Administered Over the most recent 24 Hour period. Over 156,000 people were tested for COVID Tuesday. With over 4700, or just over 3% testing positive. 75 more New Yorkers were hospitalized bring the total close to 1900, over 380 patients are in ICU Beds, 157 are on ventilators. There were 20 COVID deaths reported.


New York State 1st Responders & Law Enforcement Agencies Are Gearing up For action that may be necessary due to the heavy downpours that may come from Tropical Storm Fred. The State Department of Transportation will be patrolling areas susceptible to flooding. State Police has instructed all Troopers to remain vigilant and closely monitor conditions for any problems. Additional personnel will be deployed to affected areas as needed, including in the Southern Tier, Central New York. All four-wheel drive vehicles and all specialty vehicles, including Utility Terrain Vehicles, are in-service. Utility companies are urged to be ready to respond for issues masticated with flash flooding as well as downed trees & power lines.


Governor Andrew Cuomo is now being investigated for alleged sexual harassment by the Manhattan & Westchester District Attorney's offices, in addition to the investigation already underway by the Albany County Sheriff’s Department. The findings of the State Assembly Impeachment investigation are being turned over to all who are investigating Cuomo's alleged improprieties.


Following the United States Department of Agriculture’s announcement that up to $500 million in American Rescue Plan emergency rural health care funding will be newly available, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is encouraging all eligible New York entities to apply ahead of the deadline. Applicants may apply for Impact Grants by October 12th, and Recovery Grants on a continual basis until funds are expended. The Appalachian Regional Commission announced approval of a grant today to the Rural Health Network for $150,000 for their "Get There" transportation to employment program. The program provides for assistance for those who are not able to purchase their own transportation, to get to & from work in the Southern Tier.
