An estimated 3000 people attended the Funeral of New York State Trooper Timothy Pratt today in South Glens Falls. Trooper Pratt was killed last week, while he was assisting a tractor-trailer driver stuck on a median in the town of Wilton, & was accidentally struck by a second vehicle driven by 59 year old Joel Duguay of Corinth. Trooper Pratt was a 30-year veteran of the State Police and also served in the United States Air Force for 7 years prior to becoming a New York State Trooper.
Governor Cuomo announced the availability of $45 million for counties to improve their emergency communications systems and upgrade technology. Each county and New York City can submit applications to fund projects involving infrastructure, equipment and technology upgrades. The grant is administered by the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Applications must be received via email by December 8th at Grant.Info@dhses.ny.gov.

The 2016 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be a Norway Spruce tree, that will be removed from the property of Angie & Greg Eichler at 72 Country Club Road in the town of Oneonta. The Tree will be cut down November 12th and will be taken to New York City November 12th, and will be lit up in Rockefeller Plaza November 30th, live on Network Television.
Norwich City Police, Fire fighters & EMT's responded to a 2 vehicle crash, into a house at 88 South Broad Street. 1 person was removed from the scene by ambulance, following the noontime accident. More details are expected to be released following the conclusion of the accident investigation.
Delaware County Deputies arrested 22-year-old Courtney Jennings of Walton Thursday on an arrest warrant for Menacing, Criminal Trespass & Endangering the Welfare of a Child, On Sunday, Deputies then arrested 45-year-old Donald Jennings of Hancock, for Menacing & Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Both were charged in connection with a recent altercation at a residence in the Town of Colchester. Both were arraigned & were released pending future court action.
Matthews Auto will host their 4th annual "Trunk or Treat" Halloween event today at their location at 175 East Main Street in Norwich, Spokesperson Kathy Breno Explains:

State Police announced today that State Trooper Timothy Pratt died this morning as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck by a vehicle on Ballard Road in the town of Wilton, at about 6:55 AM, while assisting the driver of a tractor trailer on Ballard Road, Trooper Pratt was struck by a passing car and critically injured. Trooper Pratt was airlifted to Albany Medical Center where he died from his injuries at approximately 9:30 a.m. Trooper Pratt became a member of the State Police in 1987, he was 55 years old. Funeral arrangements should be announced shortly. Police added that no charges will be filed against the driver of the 2nd vehicle.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that his office has reached separate $6 million settlements with DraftKings and FanDuel, resolving lawsuits alleging false and deceptive advertising practices by the companies. The agreements also require sweeping reforms to the companies' marketing, including clear disclosure of terms and conditions for marketing promotions, expected winnings, and expected performance in the online contests, as well as resources for players at risk for compulsive gaming disorders, including addiction. the companies will be required to maintain a webpage that provides information about the rate of success of users in its contests, including the percentage of winnings captured by the top 1%, 5% and 10% of players.
State Police arrested 32 year old Amber Roe of Oneonta, for operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs. Troopers stated that Roe drove herself to the State Police Oneonta Barracks to report a theft, Troopers determined that Roe was driving while impaired by drugs, she consented to a Blood Test & lab results are pending. Roe was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Oneonta Court on November 15, 2016.
The State Financial Services Department & the Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl today announced the arrest of 34-year-old Lawrence Woodards of Cooperstown, and 34-year-old Kevin Williamson of New York City, for allegedly stealing approximately $25,000 in tax proceeds from the Otsego County Treasurer's Office. Woodards is accused of stealing approximately $14,000 while employed as an account clerk typist in the Treasurer's Office. Williamson is accused of depositing the checks into his bank account and then mailing approximately half of the money back to Woodards. Bother were charged with 3rd degree Grand Larceny. They were arraigned in Town of Otsego Court and were both released on their own recognizance pending a November 16th hearing.
A Binghamton man who pleaded guilty to stabbing a man over an argument about chicken nuggets was sentenced to five years in prison on Tuesday. After being released from prison, Weaver also will be supervised for an additional five years. Weaver also will have to pay $75 in fees. Lamont Weaver pleaded guilty Sept. 7 in Broome County Court to a felony count of second-degree assault in connection with the May 28 stabbing of a 39-year-old man at a residence on Crandall Street in Binghamton.
74% of guns used in crimes in New York originated from other states, and 86% recovered handguns came from outside the state, according to a report Tuesday from state Atoortney General Eric Schneiderman. State law enforcement agencies recovered 52,915 firearms between 2010-2015. Only 6% Of Guns Were Recovered From The Original Purchaser. NY State of Health announced that open enrollment for New Yorkers seeking health insurance coverage in 2017, through Qualified Health Plans begins on November 1st. Open Enrollment runs through January 31, 2017.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office & State Police arrested 27 year old Kenneth Oefelein of Coventry on 2 counts of Criminal Mischief. Oefelein allegedly damaged property of the victim and did not allow her to call 911, during a domestic dispute on October 19th. Oefelein was arraigned in the Town of Coventry court and is being held on $5000 cash bail. Oefelein is to reappear in the Town of Coventry court at a later date.
The Sidney chamber Of Commerce & Community Bank, N.A. will hold their Business After Hours along with Coldwell Banker Timberland Properties today. The event will run from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
