State Police arrested 67 year old Eric Halstead of Candor, for Corrupting the Government & 3rd degree Grand Larceny, following an investigation by State Police with the Office of the State Comptroller. An investigation revealed that over several years while Halstead was Mayor of the Village of Candor, he withdrew over $23,000 dollars in cash from a Village account for personal use, Halstead replaced approximately $19-thousand dollars but still owes money to the Village of Candor. Halstead was arrested and Arraigned & he was released on his own recognizance and scheduled to appear in the Candor Town Court on August 5th.

State Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on County Highway 47 in the town of Oneonta. 37 year old Timothy White of Oneonta was in possession of long guns and a victim was fearful of White’s past actions that could lead to further harm. Delaware County District Attorney's office announced that 45 year old Timothy Bennett of Walton, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated by alcohol and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle, Wednesday. Bennet crashed his car in January on State Highway 10, in the Town of Walton. The investigation revealed that the Bennet was intoxicated by alcohol and had a BAC of .18 & had a suspended driver’s license, he was sentenced to a 3-year term of probation supervision, he must complete the impaired driver program and a victim impact panel, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, & he must install an ignition interlock device in any vehicle he owns, his license was revoked for a minimum of 1 year, and he was ordered to pay over $1600 in fines and surcharges.

Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the retirement of his Undersheriff Timothy Buckley, effective May 21nd. Sergeant Kim Smith, a 25-year member of the Sheriff’s Office, will be appointed the next Undersheriff of Delaware County. Undersheriff Buckley initiated his Law Enforcement Career in 1996 working for various municipal Police Departments in Delaware and Chenango Counties.

Troopers responded to a report of a robbery at gunpoint, their investigation revealed that 2 men known to the victim threatened, pistol whipped and stole items from him. Investigators arrested 42 year old Ryan Flood of Davenport, he was found to be in possession of an unregistered and loaded gun, he was charged with Robbery, & Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Police later arrested 34 year old Timothy White of Oneonta for Robbery, Both were arraigned and remanded to Delaware County jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 21 year old Timothy Reed of Johnson City for DWI following a personal injury motor vehicle accident on County Highway 23 in the Town of Walton. Deputies responded at about 2:30 AM on May 30th, to a 911 report of a motor vehicle accident on County Highway 23, near the intersection of Woodlawn Road, Reed was identified as the driver of the vehicle & charged, he faces court action at a later date.

Just after 4:30 p.m., Jason Johnson was taken into custody near a river bank off State Route 79 in Colesville.
EARLY AFTERNOON UPDATE:
Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies and State Police responded to East Windsor Road in Colesville to check on the welfare of an individual at 8:35 PM Wednesday night, . Law enforcement did exchange gunfire with Johnson, State Trooper Becky Seager was shot in the hip & was taken to Wilson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Multiple agencies are looking for 34 year old Jason Johnson this afternoon, he is described as a white male, 5’7 and 160 pounds with a Mohawk style haircut, he was last seen in the East Windsor Road area near Thorn Hill. He is considered armed and dangerous, It’s possible that Johnson may be operating a 1996 Ford F-250 pick-up truck, blue in color with the NY license plate HZV7759, Police said that the public should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.

The sentencing of former State Senator Tom Libous has been postponed until after Libous completes another round of Chemo Therapy.
