Former Major League Manager Buck Showalter, who managed both the Yankees & the Mets, will be the was announced as the keynote speaker at the 10th Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class today, The Hall of Fame ceremony is set for April 28 at the Double Tree Hotel in Binghamton, starting at 6:30 this evening.

18 year old Daziar Gadson of Binghamton was sentenced to 9 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision, for attempted murder, for her role in a 2024 drive-by shooting. On August 3, 2024, Binghamton Police responded to reports of gunfire near Conklin Avenue and Felters Road. Investigators determined that Gadson shot a 19-year-old male while the victim was refueling his vehicle.

A.M. NEWS TUESDAY 4-21-25

State Police were dispatched Sunday Morning to a fatal motor vehicle crash on East Afton Road in the town of Bainbridge. An investigation at the scene determined that the 17-year-old female occupant was operating an SUV when she went off the roadway into an embankment, crossed a creek, striking several trees and coming to rest on the opposite side of the creek. The investigation is on-going.

UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital is holding its first walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic today until 6:30 PM at the Awestruck Tap Room in the Sidney Industrial Park.  Today will be a 1st dose Moderna vaccine clinic; it will be followed up with a 2nd shot clinic for today's participants on Thursday May 27th, also at Awestruck in Sidney.  Walk-ins are welcome, anyone wishing to schedule a specific time can call Awestruck at 232-1143.

A.M. NEWS FRIDAY 4-30-21

State Troopers & local fire Departments responded to a bus fire in the northbound lanes on I-81 Thursday.  42 people were on the bus, 4 were injured; 1 person transported to Wilson Hospital for burns, 2 were taken to Binghamton General for smoke inhalation and 1 person was treated at scene.  Both northbound lanes were shut down for several hours just north of exit 7 Castle Creek, the highway was fully re-opened at about 6:20 PM.

Delaware County Public Health reported 8 new COVID cases Thursday, out of 585 tests, they are down to 70 active cases, 6 hospitalized & 152 quarantined.

that they have closed 14 upstate New York restaurants.  Several Broome County locations closed, their
Oneonta location at 377 Main Street is expected to close shortly, and other
locations that are closing are located in Syracuse, Rochester, and Oswego.  The Friendly’s at 561 Harry L Drive in
Johnson will remain open.

State Troopers arrested 21-year-old Kayla Vanderpool from
Adams for Driving while ability impaired by drugs, plus 14 other traffic
citations Thursday after a pursuit through multiple jurisdictions.  State Police were dispatched to a 911 call reporting
a wrong-way driver traveling west in the eastbound lanes of State Route 17 in
the city of Binghamton.   Vanderpool
continued through Vestal, she hit another vehicle, & the pursuit came to a
conclusion in Owego where Vanderpool struck a patrol vehicle and was taken into
custody.  Vanderpool was taken to
Binghamton General Hospital for minor injuries.
The investigation is still on-going.

The Sidney Central School Observatory will be open tonight, from 8:30-9:30PM. The featured attractions will be the waxing gibbous Moon, and rising Jupiter in the eastern sky. Several telescopes are available for viewing, including the main scope inside the dome. This event is open to the public, and admission is free. This session will be run by Sidney High faculty and students. The Observatory is located behind the high school building.
