State Police arrested 36 year old Jennifer Warner of Port Crane for Grand Larceny, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Petty Larceny. Troopers were dispatched on July 22nd to the Cracker Barrel in Dickinson for the report of an employee’s vehicle stolen. The vehicle was located in a nearby parking lot; a wallet containing money and credit cards was reported missing. Warner is accused of walking into the restaurant and taking the victim’s keys. Warner was arrested and arraigned in the town of Dickinson Court & she was remanded to the Broome County Jail on cash bail pending future court action.
State Police arrested 44 year old Lynn Shearer of Windsor for Aggravated DWI with a reportable B.A.C of .19%. Troopers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Morgan Road in Binghamton. Troopers located Shearer; she was arrested & was released on appearance tickets for town of Binghamton Court on October 29th.
State Police responded to a fatal accident Saturday at approximately 8:20 p.m. on State Route 23 in the town of Oneonta. 45-year-old Katy Doughty of Walton was crossing State Route 23 near State Highway 28 when she was struck by a vehicle, the section of road is not lit and she was not crossing at a crosswalk. 2 people provided CPR, Oneonta EMS and Fire attempted to provide lifesaving measures but were unable to, Doughty was pronounced dead at the scene, she was transported to Lourdes Hospital for an autopsy. The accident remains under investigation, no tickets have been issued.
State Police arrested 20 year old Andrew Keil of Oneonta for Falsely Reporting an Incident and Making a Punishable False Written Statement. Troopers were dispatched to a report of a burglary at Keil’s residence, he reported that approximately $1,360 was taken, Investigators were able to determine that Keil lied to troopers and signed a statement about the incident and he was arrested. He was released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Oneonta Court on Tuesday.
State Police arrested 21 year old Alicia Randall of Edmeston for DWI, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer and Reckless Driving. A trooper on patrol on County Road 20 in Edmeston observed the vehicle Randall was operating to be traveling at a high rate of speed. When the trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, Randall passed another vehicle in a no passing zone then turned onto High Street before stopping, she was arrested and released an appearance tickets returnable to the town of Edmeston Court on October 29th.

The Chenango County District Attorney's Office reported that Kevin Roof of Binghamton pleaded guilty to a January 2017 burglary on Algerine Street in Afton. Roof will be sentenced to 8 1/2 years in prison, plus 5 years of post-release supervision. Roof pleaded guilty to the burglary, in which he was shot during the incident, he was taken to Wilson Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. James Fletcher of Greene was also arrested in connection to the incident, he pleaded guilty last year to attempted burglary and will be sentenced to 3 years in prison with 5 years of post-release supervision.
31-year-old Brett Poyer of Port Crane has been indicted by the Broome County grand jury, for allegedly manufacturing Methamphetamines last month. Last Friday, a Grand Jury charged Poyer with 2nd & 3rd degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 3 counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia. Poyer will be arraigned on the Grand Jury charges shortly in Broome County Court; 30-year-old Jodi Bickos of Port Crane was arrested with Poyer, her case is pending.
Cornell Cooperative Extension working with Cornell has been asked to host a Farmers’ Market Community Meeting at our Hamden office on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 9:30-11:30 am. The goal of this meeting is to create and/or strengthen relationships among individuals and groups that support farmers’ markets in Delaware County. State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's office audited the Walton Fire Department. The audit found that the Treasurer did not maintain complete accounting records of disbursements, receipts or cash balances, Bank accounts were not reconciled and were not reported to the membership. The Comptroller's office recommends that the Treasurer should make sure that all transactions are entered into the accounting records, that they should Prepare and review bank reconciliations and monthly financial reports, & they should Audit and approve bills prior to payment and document the approval in the meeting minutes or supporting documentation.
State Police have released an update regarding Friday's early morning fire that claimed the lives of 2 small children. Police responded to the structure fire at 498 Dehning Road, in the town of Davenport, 3 year old Kiley Sullivan & 1 year old Cody Sullivan died during the fire, and their father 44 year old Carmen Sullivan was taken to Upstate Medical in Syracuse for burn juries. State Fire Investigators are assisting with the investigation and a cause has not been determined yet. This investigation is continuing.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that a subject wanted on multiple warrants was staying at a motel in the Town of Dickinson. Deputies attempted to make contact, when the suspect apparently left through a window & observed 27 year old Daniel Santacroce driving out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed. He was taken into custody in Binghamton. Santacroce was found to be in unlawful possession of prescription pills, he did not possess a valid driver’s license as his driving privileges were suspended. Santacroce was wanted on Arrest Warrants from Johnson City & Vestal; he was arraigned and was remanded to the Broome County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
