State Police arrested 59-year-old Carl Pritchard of Exeter
for overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper
sustenance and failure to provide appropriate shelter for dogs left
outside.  K. Pritchard was arrested after
Troopers responded to a complaint from a UPS driver who observed a dog whose
left leg appeared to be missing, The Susquehanna SPCA responded and a
veterinarian was contacted, who believed that Zoe had chewed off her own leg
after they observed bone fragments in her stomach, she also had previous
untreated injuries and scarred ear tips.
Zoe was transported to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine
for further care.  Pritchard surrender
Zoe due to his inability to pay for any vet bills, he is due to appear in the
town of Exeter court on December 4th.
Binghamton Rumble Ponies owner John Hughes today held a
press conference regarding the potential for Major League Baseball of shutting
down about 1/4 of the minor league teams in the country, including the Rumble
Ponies.  Hughes said that NYSEG Stadium
is greatly improved & fully compliant with existing standards:

Hughes said that another factor
in closing down teams is the proximity of the team to the Major League Franchise;
obviously Binghamton is within 200 miles of Citi Field in Queens.  So far no decisions have been made, no
meetings have been held regarding this proposal & the 2020 season will be
played as scheduled.

State Police arrested 2 Pennsylvania residents following a
drug bust in Chenango County that seized thousands of dollars’ worth of
drugs.  28 year old Jordan Melendez and
24 year old Kimberly Rivas were arrested Thursday following the execution of
search warrants at multiple locations in Chenango County.  Police seized 1.5 pounds of Crystal Meth,
pure Fentanyl, 20 pounds of marihuana, 4 handguns, 16 illegally possessed long
guns Scales, Packaging materials & $3,350.00 in cash. Melendez & Rivas
were charged with Criminal possession of a controlled substance & were
arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to Chenango County Jail
with no bail. The case remains under investigation, additional charges are
possible.
Sunday night, the Deposit Fire Department and Eastern Broome
Emergency Services were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident where the
vehicle involved had gone into a creek in the Town of Sanford. The sole
occupant of the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle and water prior to
our arrival. The occupant sustained injuries as a result of the accident and
was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Delaware County
Sheriff Deputies’ conducted a traffic stop on Warner Hill Road in the Town of
Meredith.  30 year old Natasha Reed of
Treadwell, she had a revoked Driver’s License for a total of 13 revocations and
suspensions. Reed was arrested for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor
vehicle, Obstructed License Plate, Failure to Notify the DMV of an address
change, she was released in her own recognizance pending future court action.

The Broome County District Attorney’s office says
Serina Madden pleaded guilty to 1st-degree manslaughter in Broome County Court,
in connection with the death of her disabled daughter, 10-year-old Belladonna
Loke in 2018 in the town of Colesville.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2020.
The Otsego County Board of Representatives has
approved $230,000 in emergency funding to go towards fixing the leaky roof at
the Otsego County Jail in Cooperstown.
The roof on the 30 year old Facility leaked on October 31st after heavy
downpours, 33 inmates were moved to the Delaware or Albany County Jails, they
will not return until January or February of next year.
A "Tribute to our Veterans" concert will
be held at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta This Saturday night;
the show is free to Veterans, according to Foothills Spokesman Bill Youngs:

16 year old Alexis Lotterman of Walton & 17 year old
Tatiana Febo of Downsville will have their 1st degree Burglary cases moved to
Otsego County Family Court, in connection with the murder of 53 year old
Kenneth Robinson in Worcester on October 10th.
15 year old Dylan Robinson, 16 year old Alexander Borggreen  15 year old Anais Soto & 32 year old
Nicolas Meridy are all charged with 2nd degree murder & 1st degree Burglary
for the Robinson Murder, all are being held pending future court action.
Governor Cuomo announced that New York's law raising the
minimum sales age from 18 to 21 for tobacco and electronic cigarette products
beginning November 13th.   The law seeks
to prevent cigarettes and vaping products from getting into the hands of our
youth, & creating an addiction to a deadly habit.   According to the State Department of Health,
almost 40% of 12th grade students and 27% of all high school age students are
now using e-cigarettes, and this increase is largely driven by flavored
e-liquids.   The State Police will
partner with the Department of Health to conduct undercover investigations
across the state, retailers found selling tobacco and vaping products to
underage individuals will face criminal penalties in addition to civil
penalties.
Sidney village police Arrested
21 year old Caleb Zuk of Sidney for Criminal possession of a controlled
substance, Criminal possessing a hypodermic instrument and Aggravated
unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle last Thursday.  Zuk was processed & face court action at
a later date.

Orlando Tercero has been found guilty of the Nicaraguan
charge of Femicide, for the murder of Haley Anderson IN Binghamton last
year.  Tercero was wanted in Broome
County for the murder of Hailey Anderson in his Binghamton Apartment, he fled
to his home country, where he was tried & found guilty of Anderson’s
murder.  He is expected to serve 25 to 35
years in jail in Nicaragua.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged
53-year-old Jason Babcock of Sidney for Driving While Ability Impaired by
Alcohol, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, following an
investigation by Delaware County Probation Officers, alleging that Babcock had
driven to his probation meeting in the Village of Delhi while under the
influence of alcohol. Babcock was released on an appearance ticket for Town of
Delhi Court at a later date.
Starting today, November 1st, 2019, New York State law
requires any child under the age of 2 to ride in a rear-facing car seat. Did
you know that many car seats are designed with greater height and weight limits
and can keep a child rear-facing, even beyond age 2? The American Academy of
Pediatrics suggests that the best way to keep your child safe is to keep them
rear-facing for as long as possible.
Artifacts from the Washington Nationals’ first-ever World
Series title are headed to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.  Artifacts donated by the Nationals include

Daylight Saving Time ends on
Sunday at 2:00 AM, as clocks will be turned back one hour.   The move means that it will get dark an hour
earlier at 5:19 PM Sunday, Standard time will be used through March 8th
2020  when clocks will “spring” forward
an hour to begin Daylight Saving Time.

Last Night’s storms left behind flooding, power outages
& closed roads.  In Chenango County,
State Highway 23 in Pharsalia is expected to be closed for an extended period
of time, Nyseg reported that about 1300 were without power in Otsego County,
about 1700 were out in Delaware County, about
800 in Chenango County and over 1100 in Broome County this afternoon.

Local Congressmen are split over the notion of pursuing
impeachment proceedings against President Trump.  19th District Congressman Antonio Delgado
released a statement over the weekend saying that it has become clear that the
president has placed his personal interests above the national security of our
nation by admitting to soliciting the Ukrainian president to investigate
potential Democratic President Nominee & former Vice President Joe Biden,
which Delgado said is an impeachable offense.
22nd District Congressman Anthony Brindisi stated that while the
allegations against the President regarding the call to the President of
Ukraine is troubling, he wants to first make sure that the impeachment is
Constitutional.
Funeral arrangements for Brooke Ketchum of Unadilla are
being handled by C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel at 21 Main Street in Sidney.   Ketchum died in an automobile accident in
the town of Otego Friday, Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 9 from
2:00 to 4:00 PM with the funeral immediately following at 4:00pm. The family
invites those in attendance to the Sidney VFW for a reception following
services; donations can be made to a memorial fund for her 2 daughters.
Governor Cuomo today signed
legislation prohibiting the performance or supervision of a pelvic exam on an
anesthetized or unconscious person without informed consent. The legislation
also makes it professional misconduct to perform unauthorized pelvic exams.
This legislation takes effect in 180 days.

Police arrested 64 year old Norman Fletcher of Bainbridge for Driving While
Ability Impaired by Drugs & Failure to Keep Right.  Troopers, who were leaving the Sidney
headquarters after training, observed Fletcher driving on State Route 7 in the
town of Unadilla failing to keep right, Fletcher was processed and was released
on appearance tickets to the town of Unadilla court on August 12th.
State
Police at Sidney arrested 36 year old Sabrina Hetrick of Guilford for DWI,
after Troopers responded to a 1-car accident on State Route 51 in the town of
Butternuts.  Hetrick was transported to
Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown of complaint of pain and was issued appearance
tickets to the town of Butternuts court on August 22nd.
State
Police and other police agencies joined forces on August 2nd in an effort to
get impaired drivers, unlicensed drivers and drugs off the roadways.  29 law enforcement members were involved in a
5-hour traffic saturation detail with troopers from Troops C, G and H, the
Delaware, Greene & Schoharie County Sheriff’s Departments, DEC Police, Park
Rangers, & the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  A total of 38 traffic summons were issued for
DWI, Leandra's Law, aggravated unlicensed operation, unregistered motor
vehicle, speeding, & 2 people were wanted on active warrants.
The
Community Foundation for South Central New York announced a new mini-grant
opportunity for qualified non-profit organizations in Broome, Tioga, Chenango,
Delaware and Otsego counties.   Proposals
may be submitted for projects that support, develop and/or expand the skill set
of young professionals in our region and/or increase their involvement in the

A
new Siena College Poll of registered New York voters found that the majority of
New Yorkers say Governor Cuomo has made the state a better place since he took
office in 2011, the poll also found that his favorability and job performance
ratings currently match record lows.  New
York voters said Cuomo has improved the state by a 51 to 39% margin,  but his favorability ratings of 43% negative
and 50% positive matches his lowest ratings, his job performance rating of 34%
positive and 64% negative is his lowest ever.
State
Police arrested 40 year old Rachel Rose of Otego for Aggravated DWI, with a BAC
of .22%, plus Imprudent Speed and Moving from a Lane Unsafely.  A trooper was dispatched by Otsego County 911
to the area of Country Club Road in the town of Oneonta for a report of a vehicle
off the road.  The trooper located Rose
and her vehicle which was stuck in a drainage ditch.  Rose was processed and released on appearance
tickets returnable to the town of Oneonta court on August 6, 2019.

State Police arrested 53 year old Michael Silver of Franklin for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury Accident and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, after a trooper was dispatched to a hit and run accident on State Route 357 in the town of Franklin.   As the trooper was responding the area, he observed Silver’s vehicle with heavy front end damage.  A traffic stop was initiated; Silver was impaired by drugs and had a suspended driver’s license.  Silver was released on appearance tickets to the town of Oneonta court tomorrow.  The operator of the other vehicle was taken to UHS Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton for arm pain and later released.

players for the annual Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament this weekend,

State Police arrested 28 year old Rosa Bautist-Pena of
Yonkers for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, after she arrived at the
State Police barracks in Oneonta to speak to a trooper on an unrelated
matter.  She was arraigned in the town of
Oneonta court where she was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $50 cash bail
or $250 property bond.  She will appear
in the town on Oneonta court on July 11th.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli announced that there is $16 billion waiting to be claimed and the Office returns over $1.5 million a day.   Anyone who thinks that New York State may have unclaimed funds can visit .osc.state.ny.us and search your name to find out if the state has money that belongs you.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 38-Year-Old Mary
Hubert of Unadilla, Sunday for DWI, following a civilian report of a driver
sleeping behind the wheel of a motor vehicle on Sheehan Road in the Town of
Meredith.  Hubert was also issued tickets
for Parking on a Public Highway, and Refusal to Take a Breath Screening Test;
she was released on tickets for the Town of Meredith Court at a later date.
Several area fire departments responded Friday to a fire at
a home in the town of Butternuts.  The
call came into Otsego County 911 at 7:14 p.m. Friday night from the residents,
who successfully escaped the house without injuries. Fire companies from Mt.
Upton, Gilbertsville, Unadilla, Wells Bridge and Morris all responded to the
scene, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce is accepting
nominations for our Celebration of Sustainable Success Awards.  Nominees should be a chamber member who
deserves recognition for the Quality of Life Award, which is given to a
business, involved in the community and has made Otsego County a better place
to live and work. The second award is the Environmental Stewardship Award which
is for businesses, industries or organizations that have implemented programs
or projects that have had a positive environmental impact on Otsego
County.  Nominations should be submitted
by 5:00 pm Thursday, July 18.  The
winners will be honored at the Summer Soiree on Thursday, August 22nd.
All of the absentee ballots in
Broome County have now been counted for the Republican Party Primary District
Attorney race.  Paul Batistti is named
the winner over Michael Korchak by slim margin, Batistti had a slim margin on
Primary Day June 25th, the counting of the absentee ballots today confirmed
Batistti's victory.

State Police arrested 38 year old Joshua Eckman of Oneonta
for Criminal Contempt, after a victim called troopers stating that Eckman
entered the victim’s residence and violated an order of protection. Eckman was
arraigned in the town of Oneonta court; he was released on his
recognizance.  On July 4th, Eckman was
arrested again on the same charge after he entered the victim’s home, he was
arrested and complained of alleged pain while being processed by State Police,
he was taken to Fox Hospital.  Once
cleared from the hospital, Eckman was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on
$1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond pending court action on July
11th.
State Police arrested 27 year old Brandon Hilts of
Burlington Flats for Unlawful Imprisonment, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing,
Criminal Mischief and 2 counts of Criminal Mischief.  Troopers were dispatched to a residence on
Arnold Road in the town of Burlington to check the welfare of a person who had
not responded to work.  Troopers found
Hilts and the victim, Hilts allegedly refused to let the victim leave the residence
after an argument by physically blocking two exit doors.  He’s also accused of choking the victim and
breaking 2 phones, making the victim unable to call for help.  Hilts was arrested & was arraigned &
remanded to the Otsego County Jail on no bail due to violating his parole.  The victim was issued an order of protection.
The Chenango County Department of Public Works Crews will
begin bridge rehabilitation work on 2 structures on County Road 32, in the Town
of Norwich today.  The work on these
projects will last into the fall; they will maintain two way traffic at each
bridge structure; however the traffic pattern at each structure shall change as
the projects progress.    Questions and

A joint investigation between the State Police at Otsego
County Sheriff’s Department has resulted in the arrest of 27 year old Kimberly
Steeley of Decatur.  Steeley was arrested
on a Grand Jury indictment and charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree Manslaughter,
following a June 2018 investigation into the deaths of her twin infant
children.  Steeley was arraigned at the
Otsego County Court and was remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $10,000 cash
bail or $100,000 bond.  A preliminary
hearing is scheduled for June 3, 2019.
40-year-old Chad Swartwood of Castle Creek was arrested
Friday for allegedly possessing child pornography & attempting to receive
of child pornography.  Swartwood is
accused of impersonating a teenage girl online to try to convince teenage boys
to send him sexually explicit photos of them.
Swartwood is ordered held on Friday in US District Court, he could face
25 to 110 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and a term of post-release
supervision and he will have to register as a sex offender.
The Sidney Chamber of Commerce & Sidney EMS is bringing
in Fox Hospital CEO Jeff Joyner to discuss the relationship of Sidney and the
surrounding area with Fox Hospital and the future growth of FOX services at the
Tri-Town Campus in Sidney.  The
discussion will begin at 8:00 AM Tuesday at Sidney Country Club
Governor Cuomo announced nearly $9 million will be awarded
to implement water quality protection projects on 24 farms across the state.
The funded projects will allow livestock farms to better manage and store
nutrients such as manure to protect groundwater and nearby waterways. This
program is part of the governor's $2.5 billion Clean Water Infrastructure Act
of 2017, which invests resources for drinking water, wastewater infrastructure,
and other water quality protections statewide.

State Senator Fred Akshar released the results of his latest
online surveys asking constituents to weigh in on current issues.  On legislation to allow undocumented
immigrants to obtain driver's licenses, 84% of residents opposed allowing
undocumented immigrants to obtain drivers licenses; 13% supported the measure
& 3% were undecided.  The survey
results on legislation to provide free college tuition for children of members
of our military who lost their lives in the line of duty, also known as Gold
Star Families, showed that 87% supported providing free college tuition
assistance to Gold Star Families 8% opposed it and 5% were undecided.
A very familiar Pro Racer will be returning to the 57th

State Police arrested 40 year old Curtis Cuttino & 46
year old Michael McVicker, both of York Pennsylvania for 2nd degree Murder
after a home invasion in Apalachin Thursday morning.  Troopers were dispatched to 5 Dorothy Road at
approximately 5:55 a.m., Thursday for a report of a shooting, troopers found 32
year old Brian Argro dead inside,   A
20-year-old female acquaintance was not harmed, she told troopers that 2 men
came to the house, knocked on the door & were let in by Argro, a scuffle
ensued, Shots were fired, Argro was killed & the suspects fled on
foot.  Tioga County Sheriff’s Deputies
located Cuttino on State Route 434, State Police and the Monticello Police
Department arrested McVicker later on Thursday, he was returned to
Binghamton.  Both suspects were later
remanded to the Tioga County Jail on without bail. Police are looking into how
Cuttino and McVicker arrived in Apalachin; anyone with information can contact
State Police at 561-7400.
A Manhattan judge has scheduled a court legal hearing this
afternoon that may help determine the fate of the Woodstock 50 festival in
Watkins Glen in August.  Organizers of
Woodstock 50 have filed a petition accusing the festival's financial backer
Dentsu Aegis Network of creating a "worldwide uproar" by announcing
that the concert was canceled, as well as misappropriating $18 million.  They're asking a judge to order Dentsu to
give back the funds, and to stop them from "disparaging Woodstock 50,
interfering with its contracts with performers and others, and undermining the
Festival."  Woodstock 50 had been
announced for August 16-18 in Watkins Glen.

State Police arrested 27 year old David Baldo of Oneonta for
Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled
Substance & Unlawful Possession of a Marihuana.  Baldo was stopped during a road check on
Lower Main Street in the town of Oneonta; Troopers were able to smell marijuana
and located a quantity of marijuana and pills.
Baldo was issued appearance tickets returnable to the town of Oneonta Court
on April 23, 2019 and released to a sober third party.
The State Department of Parks recreation & Historic

22 year old Cheyanne Moore of Norwich pleaded guilty in
Chenango County Court to 5th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Moore had been arrested following a raid on
her Norwich apartment last December, where police confiscated several narcotics.  Moore faces sentencing at a later date.

State Police at Oneonta arrested 25 year old Wayne Redmond of New Berlin for Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers responded to a car in a ditch on West Street in the town of Oneonta. Redmond was arraigned in the town of Oneonta court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.

Governor Cuomo today announced that the State Division of Consumer Protection has launched a data privacy consumer survey to give New Yorkers the opportunity to weigh in on data privacy issues and inform policymaking. The initiative follows the report that Facebook is secretly accessing personal information of users. The new survey asks respondents about the number of smart devices in each household, the operating systems being used, and whether they know how to access privacy settings on social media, apps and Internet browsers. The Chenango County Health Department announced that the next free rabies clinic will be held today in Guilford. The clinic will run from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at the Guilford town Barn, more information is available at 337-1673 or at co.chenango.ny.us.

Assemblyman Cliff Crouch announced today that the Assembly Minority had created a petition for constituents to sign urging the Assembly Majority to pass the Gold Star Families Education Bill to provide free college tuition and room and board to dependents of our military veterans who died in service to their country, th ebill failed to make it past a committee, but Governor Cuomo announced support for the Gold Star Families Program, and signed an Executive Order to establish it.

13 people in 7 states, including New York, have been sickened with salmonella since January; after consuming “Jensen Tuna" packaged in 1 pound bags or 20 pound boxes. The Center of Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday, The company has issued a recall for 3 lots; z266, z271, and z272. The US Food and Drug Administration said the recalled tuna was probably not sold directly to consumers in grocery stores but was likely "used in food dishes sold by restaurants or retailers." Symptoms of salmonella, which begin 12 to 72 hours after consumption of contaminated food, include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps. Most people recover on their own after four to seven days. The FDA and the CDC said an investigation is ongoing.

Lori Bailey is a filmmaker, who spent her childhood years in Mineville New York in the Adirondacks, and much of her life in Oneonta. She directed the film “Garrow” about Adirondack Serial Killer Robert Garrow, who was once the target of the biggest manhunt in state history when he was killed in 1973; Bailey talked to WCDO News about this film:

Bailey said that “Garrow” will be shown at the Goodrich Theater at the State university campus in Oneonta on Saturday May 25th at 7:00 PM and Sunday May 26th at 2:30 PM, it will then be available after that on DVD.
34-year-old Daniel Butash of Endwell was indicted on charges of DWI, assault, aggravated vehicular assault and reckless endangerment, in connection with an incident where he drove the wrong way on State route 17, & head on into a patrol vehicle driven by Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy Kristy Botsford on February 1st. Botsford sustained knee and ankle injuries, and is still recovering from her injuries.

State Police arrested 39 year old Jamie Varieur of Glens Falls for Attempted Assault on a Police Officer and attempted Criminal Mischief, Criminal Impersonation and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Varieur is accused of attacking a trooper while heading to arraignment. Troopers originally received a complaint in March 2019 that a woman’s license was suspended after she failed to answer to a speeding ticket; she claimed she had never been stopped by a trooper for speeding. The investigation revealed that in November 2018, a trooper observed Varieur speeding on I-88, & she turned herself in to State Police Monday, & allegedly assaulted the trooper transporting her to the town of Sidney for arraignment. Varieur was pepper sprayed and eventually complied with troopers. Varieur was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $4,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Job Expo at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown today. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, it is open to the public; more information is available at 432-4500.

Republican Congressional Candidate George Phillips will be kicking off an 8-county tour this week that will stretch into May. Roger Clough has officially resigned as Superintendent of the Walton School district, following an out of court settlement where Clough will receive 2 years pay, and possible charges of professional misconduct against him will be dropped will be dropped.  The Walton School Board has appointed Larry Thomas as the new Superintendent.
A "Go Fund Me" page has been set up for
Cooperstown Police Chief Mike Covert, who is suffering from a variety of Health
issues & had to take a leave of absence.
Covert faces expensive medical bills & will need a kidney
transplant, his health insurance had lapsed briefly, and the fund was set up,
it has raised almost $14,000 dollars through yesterday.
State Senator Jim Seward
welcomed J.P. Dewey from Sidney High School to Monday in Albany as part of the
annual “Music in our Schools Month” celebration.   Dewey performed as a member of the
prestigious All State Instrumental Jazz Ensemble. He is the first ever pianist
from the Sidney area to be selected to play with the 18 member group.  Choirs, orchestras and bands from across the
state travel to Albany throughout the month of March to perform in the
concourse of the Empire State Plaza as part of “Music in our Schools Month”.

Otsego County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 19 year old Skyler
Blass of Otego & 18 year old Treyton Hathaway of Oneonta on Felony drug
charges after traffic stop Friday.
Deputies were alerted to be on the lookout for a vehicle that fled the
scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Davenport.  Deputies observed the vehicle on State
Highway 23; it was stopped on East Street in the City of Oneonta.  Deputies seized 3 pounds of packaged
psychedelic mushrooms and 5 pounds of packaged marihuana in the vehicle.  Blass & Hathaway were arraigned,  Blass was remanded to the Otsego County Jail
on $20,000 Cash Bail / $50,000 bond, Hathaway was remanded on $10,000 Cash Bail
/ $20,000 Bond.  The motor vehicle
accident is still under investigation by the State Police.
The announcement of the City of Oneonta Downtown Improvement
awards will be made Today by Mayor Gary Herzig as part of his annual State of
the City address during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Oneonta Common
Council beginning at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held in the Foothills
Performing Arts Center’s Production Center on the first floor to accommodate
those wishing to attend.  As part of Oneonta’s
Downtown Revitalization Initiative, $2.3M was set aside to be provided to
downtown business and property owners for grants to update exterior signage and
building facades along with the development of quality upper floor housing. The
Mayor and Common Council had appointed a Project Selection Committee chaired by
former Mayor Kim Muller to review the more than 100 applications which were
received.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 25-year-old
Allen Conkling of Fish’s Eddy for 2 counts of Burglary & 2 counts of Petty
Larceny. Conkling is accused of entering a building at a Lumber Yard and
stealing various items on 2 separate occasions. Conkling was arraigned in the
Town of Colchester Court he was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional
Facility on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

State Police responded to a one-car fatal motor vehicle
accident on Odell Lake Road near Peters Road in the town of Harpersfield at
approximately 10:55 last night.  The only
occupant, the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was confirmed deceased by
emergency responders.  An investigation
reveals that the driver traveled off the roadway for an unknown reason and into
a large tree.  The roadway was closed for
approximately four hours. The investigation continues.
The Community Foundation for South Central New York
announced a grant opportunity for organizations serving Walton.  The Paul and Miriam Mattern Fund is now
accepting applications to enrich the cultural life and social well-being of
residents of the village and township of Walton, Applicants will be able to
complete and submit their applications to the Community Foundation on-line. The
deadline is March 18th, interested organizations should visit our website

Firefighters from Guilford, Oxford, Coventry &
Bainbridge responded to a fire this afternoon at 874 Shapley Road in the town
of Guilford.  The house was fully involved
