Norwich Police arrested 55-year-old John Stacy of Norwich for Possessing Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child & Failure to register as a Sex Offender. Stacy is accused of possessing pornographic materials containing children under the age of 16 & failing to notify authorities of his social media accounts within the required 10 day period for registered Level 2 sex offenders. Stacy was arraigned in Norwich City Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $50.000 cash bail pending court action on September 19th.
Chenango County Sheriff's Department arrested 18 year old Samantha Clipston of Norwich for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. Clipston was arraigned in the City of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. The arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation into the sale and possession of Heroin in the City of Norwich. The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the City of Norwich Police Department.

James Brower & Tobias Rundstrom-Wooding were indicted by a Chenango County Grand Jury Wednesday. The 2 are accused of raping & killing 11-year-old Jacelyn O'Connor on July 30th in their Town of Norwich trailer; they will be arraigned on the Grand Jury Charges next week.
The Sidney Rotary Club announced that Sidney Central School District Superintendent Bill Christensen will be presenting a program to Rotary Friday at St. Luke's Church, regarding updates at the District. Rotary District 7170 has received a Rotary Global grant to help with the local fight against heroin & Opioid abuse in 7 local counties, including Chenango, Delaware Otsego & Broome Counties. District Grant Committee Chairperson Lana Rouff told WCDO News what the money would be used for:

Rouff said that the money will also be used of an Internet program to target those who may be using Opioids and get them the help they need.
Today is the last day to sign up for free income tax preparation in Chenango County through the Colgate University Volunteer income tax assistance program. Residents who earned less than $54,000 may be eligible to participate, more information, can be made through Cornell Cooperative Extension at 99 Broad Street in Norwich, at 334-5841. The deadline to file state & federal income taxes is Tuesday April 18th this year.
