The Appellate Division of state Supreme Court has declared
that farm workers have the same right to unionize as all other workers in New
York State. State labor laws excluded
farm workers from collective bargaining rights, that was ruled unconstitutional
Thursday. The New York Farm Bureau said
that they will appeal to the state's highest court, the Court of Appeals.
Filmmaker Lori Bailey grew up in the Adirondacks & in
Oneonta, she directed the film “Garrow” about Adirondack Serial Killer Robert
Garrow, who was once the target of the biggest manhunt in state history when he
was killed in 1973; Bailey told WCDO News that her film will be shown this
weekend in Oneonta:

Mineville New York, so the story held a special interest for her & her

The 92nd Scripps National
Spelling Bee starting Sunday through next week & for the 3rd year in a row,
Bainbridge resident Melodie Loya will be participating. Loya placed 18th and 25th in her two
previous years of national competition, and made it to the final 41of last
year’s 516 spellers. The Scripps
national Spelling Bee will be held Sunday through next Friday at the Gaylord
National Resort & Convention Center in Fort Washington, Maryland.

increase patrols to combat drunk, impaired and reckless driving throughout

The STOP-DWI enforcement period runs through Monday night,
Governor Cuomo announced that temporary lane closures for road and bridge
construction projects on New York State highways will be suspended through
Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM, to accommodate increased travel throughout Memorial
Day weekend.
Binghamton Police arrested 19-year-old Jalil Butts of
Binghamton for 2nd-degree attempted murder, in connection with the shooting of
a woman in a car on St. Patrick's Day on Chenango Street. 19-year-old Antonio
Jones of Taftville, Connecticut was arrested last month in connection with the
same shooting, he was charged with attempted murder and assault.
A jury found 26 year old Danielle Agosto of Endicott guilty
Thursday for fracturing the skull of a toddler in her care. Agosto was found guilty of 2nd-degree assault
and endangering the welfare of a child, she was returned to jail & will be
sentenced June 21.

33 Year Old Kevin Wilcox of Harpursville has been indicted
on 15 counts in connection with an incident in Binghamton March 11th, where he
lost control of his vehicle & struck 16 year old Harper Stantz & 19
year old Britney Laserinko, while allegedly impaired by drugs. Stantz died from
the injuries sustained from the incident, Laserinko suffered multiple
fractures, and Wilcox will be arraigned on the indictment in Broome county
Court at a later date.
The Broome County Sheriff's Department responded Wednesday
afternoon to Otsiningo Park in the Town of Dickinson, for the report of an
armed robbery. 18 year old Zackary
Pound of Port Dickinson claimed he was held at gunpoint by unknown males and
forced into a vehicle, it was determined
that a robbery did not take place and the incident was actually an unsuccessful
marijuana drug deal. Pound was charged
with making a false written statement and processed at the Sheriff’s Office and
released. He is to appear in the Town of Dickinson Court on a later date to
answer the charge. The investigation is ongoing.
The 17th Annual Delaware County Relay For Life will be held
tomorrow at the County Fair Grounds in Walton starting at 11:00 AM. American Cancer Society Spokesperson Heather

39 year old Jason Phoenix of Walton was arrested by State
Troopers for DWI with a BAC that was almost twice the legal limit. Phoenix was stopped during a road check on
Lower Main Street in the town of Oneonta, Phoenix was arrested, and he was ordered
to appear in the town of Oneonta court on May 7th.
The Sidney Chamber of Commerce
& the Sidney Emergency Medical Services have announced that Jeff
Joyner, the CEO of Fox Hospital and the
Fox Tri Town Campus will be discussing the relationship with Sidney and the
surrounding area with Fox hospital, & the expected growth of FOX services,
on May 14th at 8:00 AM at Sidney Country Club.
The Sidney Chamber is asking for interested members to RSVP as soon as

Oneonta police arrested Gabriel Truitt Tuesday afternoon; he
was recently indicted on charges of arson and murder in connection with a
December 29th fire at 5 Walling Avenue that claimed the life of former
firefighter John Heller. Oneonta Police
obtained a search warrant for Truitt's Sister in Law residence, right next door
to the Police Station at 95 Main Street, he was found hiding in the basement,
and was taken into custody without incident.
Truitt was taken to the Otsego County jail, he faces arraignment this
morning.
22nd District Congressman Anthony Brindisi will hold his
April town hall at 6:00 pm at Stanford Gibson Primary School in Norwich. The
event is free and open to all members of the community.

measures to prevent STAR fraud and abuse, including a 6-year ban during which
those found to have knowingly provided false information on a STAR credit
application will be barred from receiving benefits. In 2013, Governor Cuomo enacted reforms to
the STAR exemption program to crack down on delinquent taxpayers, in 2015; the
NYS Tax Department was authorized to recoup STAR benefits from property owners who
unlawfully received those benefits in past years.

rollover. The trooper located Scott with

DWI. She was processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the
town of Masonville court on May 28th.

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting today in the District Conference Room at 6:30 PM. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:00 PM.
