State Police at Binghamton responded to a 2-vehicle crash involving an SUV and motorcycle on Hunt Hill Road in the town of Fenton Thursday. The preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV was traveling north on Hunt Hill Road when the operator was making a left turn into a driveway, the motorcycle was traveling south when the 2 vehicles collided, the motorcycle became engulfed in flames, The operator of the motorcycle did not survive. The SUV operator did not report any injuries. The roadway was closed during the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.

Governor Hochul announced that $6 million in State support included in the recently passed budget, will allow for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to commit to a five-year lease extension at Mirabito Stadium. The new deal will see the team remain in Binghamton through the 2035 season, state money will be used for stadium improvements, it will be complemented by $1.2 million in City and team investments, and $12 million in planned City and federal investments for the stadium district enhancements.

The City of Norwich is pursuing all avenues to try to find a new supermarket chain to move into a key downtown location that unexpected lost a large supermarket, Norwich Mayor Robert Jeffrey told WCDO news that the incomes of residents in that area of the City makes acquiring a new store difficult:

The City of Norwich Police Department arrested 33 year old Chad Potter of Sherburne, following a multi-agency investigation into interference with public safety communications. The investigation began in March of 2021, when it was alleged that Potter unlawfully transmitted over a law enforcement radio frequencies on multiple occasions, interfering with police, fire, and EMS operations throughout Chenango County. Potter broadcast false statements, including one transmission of "shots fired, shots fired," Potter was interviewed and admitted to transmitting over the law enforcement frequency and making the false statements, & having flashing lights on his vehicle, he was charged with 2 counts of Obstruction of Governmental Administration & Making a Terroristic Threat. Potter faces court action at a later date.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies will host their annual Meet the Ponies event at the Holiday Inn Downtown Binghamton Tonight at 5 pm at the Holiday Inn Downtown Binghamton. The event will begin with an autograph session at 5 pm and at 6:45 pm. the program will continue with an introduction of the 2026 coaching staff and players. Mirabito Cares announce the launch of its March 2026 Round Up at the Register campaign, a month-long community giving initiative dedicated to improving access to pediatric healthcare for children and families across Mirabito’s service areas. From March 2 through March 31, customers at all 112 Mirabito Convenience Store locations will be invited to round up their in-store purchases to the nearest dollar. Proceeds from the campaign will benefit Friends of Bassett supporting School-Based Health Program and the Upstate Foundation supporting vital patient care, education and research at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Broome County will host the New York State Public High School Athletic Association baseball championships through 2029. The Games Will Be Played at such venues as Union- Endicott High School, Mirabito Stadium and Binghamton University for semifinal and championship match-ups.

The State Division of Criminal Justice Services announced that 34 year old Chelsea Nicholson of Oneonta is missing, she is described as a white female, 5' 7", 220 pounds with brown hair & Green eyes, she is considered an endangered adult who may be in need of medical attention. She was last seen driving a 2013 red Kia SUV with New York license plate LGJ-4364 on Franklin Street in the city of Oneonta, at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies announced the full 2026 Promotional Schedule for the 2026 season today. There will be 15 giveaways, 12 firework shows, 7 specialty jerseys, 3 appearances and a newly introduced drone show. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 49 year old Kunga Gyamtso following an investigation of a sexual assault that occurred in the Town of Hartwick. Gyamtso is accused of subjecting a female victim to unwanted forcible sexual acts at his residence in the Town of Hartwick. Evidence was presented to the Otsego County Grand Jury which handed down an indictment for the arrest, for Rape & Criminal Sexual Act, Gyamtso was arraigned in the Otsego County Court and remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $40,000 cash bail or $400,000 partially secured bond. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Vestal Police Department. .

Sidney Police Department received a complaint Thursday of an unresponsive male seated in a vehicle blocking the automatic car wash at the Mirabito gas station on West Main Street. The Sidney Police Department K9 Unit responded and made contact with the individual. During the investigation, a quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl was located inside the vehicle. Police arrested Jason Gray of Bainbridge for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Stimulant with Intent to Sell, Gray was processed and was transported to Delaware County Central Arraignment Court.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office released the autopsy findings following the death of Chelsey Davis of Port Dickinson that occurred shortly after entering the Broome County Correctional Facility on October 8th. Davis’ cause of death was listed as “Chronic Alcohol Use with Hepatic Cirrhosis,” with contributing factors listed as “hemorrhaging pancreas and heart disease. The toxicology report found no alcohol or controlled substances in her system at the time of her death. Davis was remanded to the Correctional Facility by the Town of Chenango Court., after booking procedures, she received a full medical and substance abuse screening with Correctional Facility medical staff before being housed in the Medical Unit. Over the next several hours, Davis was seen by medical staff 2 additional times, she was not exhibiting any issues, 20 minutes after the third visit with medical staff, Davis experienced a medical emergency, staff administered CPR and a Defibrillator but were unable to revive her.

A Delaware County Grand Jury returned an 8 Count Indictment against 61 year old Edward Batka of Fleischmanns, for several counts of 1st degree Rape, plus Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Unlawful Imprisonment, Unlawful Dealing with a Child on Friday. Batka was arraigned in Delaware County Court, Due to the severity of the offenses, the District Attorney’s Office requested that Batka be remanded without bail.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies invite fans to Mirabito Stadium for a ceremony celebrating the team's 2025 Eastern League Championship Thursday at 2:30 pm. Admission is free to the public. Coaches and players will be honored on the field following their Eastern League Championship Series victory over the Erie Seawolves, winning 8-2. It's the franchise's fourth Eastern League title in its 33-year franchise history and the first since 2014.

State Police arrested 47 year old Kelly Crandall of Oxford for Grand Larceny, after an investigation determined that while working at Mirabito on State Route 12 in the town of Norwich, Crandall stole over $2,000 from store deposits and an ATM machine. Crandall was arrested at her residence and was processed & she was released on an appearance ticket to the Norwich Town Court on October 16th.

Mirabito Cares, which is the community engagement arm of Mirabito Energy Products, announced that $75,000 has been raised to benefit Folds of Honor, which is an organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military service members and first responders. Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a bomb threat Tuesday at about 1:00 PM that was made to Community Bank on State Highway 23 in the Town of Norwich. The building which included Community Bank, a Mirabito Gas Station, and Dunkin Donuts were quickly evacuated. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and State Police responded and secured the scene, a State Police Explosives Detection Canine conducted a thorough search of the entire premises and did not locate any signs of any explosive devices, it was determined that there was no threat to the public and the businesses were back open at approximately 4:00 pm. The investigation to who made the threat is still ongoing.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies game tonight has been postponed due to the thunderstorms in the region, the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday at Mirabito Stadium.

Troopers from the Troop “C” Traffic Incident Management Unit partnered with the DOT for an Operation Hard Hat enforcement detail on I-86/State Route 17 east where crews were completing bridge work in the town of Vestal. State Police issued 54 total citations, 20 for using cellphones, 16 for speeding, 11 for no seat-belt, 2 for improper child restraints.

During these investigations, businesses are checked utilizing a Trooper in plain clothes and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or provide a false date of birth.

Due to inclement weather, Wednesday's Rumble Ponies game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Mirabito Stadium has been suspended with the score 2-2 entering the top of the sixth inning. The suspended game will resume on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The regularly scheduled game Thursday night will begin approximately 40 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended game. Fans can exchange their tickets to Wednesday's game for any remaining Rumble Ponies home game this season.
