Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year old Brandon Hill of Oneonta after patrols responded to the report of a fight in progress on September 12th, at 954 State Highway 205 in the Town of Oneonta. Hill was charged with Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief & Disorderly Conduct, he was processed and was released on an appearance ticket, Deputies also arrested 34 year old Michelle Mead of Oneonta following the investigation into the fight & trespassing complaint, she was charged with Resisting Arrest & Obstruct Governmental Administration. Hill & Mead will appear in Town of Oneonta Court to answer to the charges on October 6th.


Officials with NYSEG remind area residents about checking for identification if someone shows up claiming to be a NYSEG representative. NYSEG employees carry a company-issued photo ID with a unique employee number, customers should always ask for ID before providing personal or account information, or granting access to property. The announcement follows the arrest of 29-year-old Nicholas Denmark of Ithaca for 3rd degree burglary after he claimed to be from the utility & allegedly stole items once inside a residence.


State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli released his annual report regarding municipalities in fiscal stress. DiNapoli said that the city of Poughkeepsie was the only one with Significant Fiscal Stress, North Tonawanda was in Moderate Fiscal Stress, 5 were listed as susceptible to fiscal stress, none of the area towns, villages or counties made the list this year.


Bassett Healthcare Network has been named to the Forbes list of Best-in-State Employers 2022. America’s Best-in-State Employers 2022 have been identified based on survey results from approximately 70,000 Americans working for American companies that have more than 500 employees. 1,380 employers were ranked among the top employers, including Bassett Healthcare Network. The ranking follows Bassett's $50 Million Dollar investment in pay increases for its workforce, following their dealing with the COVID 19 Pandemic for the last 2 ½ years.

Catholic Charities of Sidney and other local organizations will hold another Community Partnership Mass Food Distribution this Friday morning at the Sidney Fire Station on River Street. Catholic Charities spokesperson Penny McKnight told WCDO News that they need volunteers to assist on that day:

The National Weather Service investigators revealed that a tornado moved through the Walton area on Sunday September 25th. The tornado moved through between 6:38 and 6:41 pm. Tornado damage was located along Walton Mountain Road where trees fell in a convergent pattern, damage was also reported on Route 10 to an auto repair shop and the west branch of the Delaware River along South River Road. The Weather Service measured the tornado’s winds at EF0 to EF1.


The American Red Cross has scheduled blood donation opportunities today. One drive will be held in West Oneonta from 11:30 am. - 4:30 pm., at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 107 Balmoral Drive, another will be held at the DCMO BOCES on State Route 206 in Trout Creek, from 8:30 am. - 2:30 pm., Appointments can be made by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS


State Police responded on September 24th to the Oneonta Walmart after a report that a Samsung cell phone and wallet containing cash and cards were stolen. Both items were accidentally left in the women’s restroom, when the owner realized that they left the items behind, they returned to the restroom and could not find them. The cell phone and the wallet were later located inside the Grand Union in the town of Hartwick, the cash was not located. Chenango County Public Health reported 3 more COVID related deaths today, bringing their total to 72 since that pandemic began. Chenango County has 113 active cases, 411 quarantined & 7 Hospitalizations; the number of tests conducted is now over 100,000.


Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Thursday to a report of a vehicle partially blocking Windfall Road in the Town of Tompkins.   Deputies located the vehicle & later located and identified the vehicle’s driver as Robert Price of Lansing.   Price’s New York State driving privileges were suspended and he had 16 current suspensions for failure to pay fine, failure to appear or answer summonses and failure to pay child support, his vehicle was unregistered and was displaying incorrect license plates.  Price was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation,  operating an unregistered motor vehicle, displaying improper plates and improper parking, he will appear in the Town of Tompkins Court at a later date.

Amphenol Aerospace at 191 Delaware Ave Sidney is hosting a vaccination clinic on Monday, with the 2nd shot on Monday May 17th, for anyone 18 years or older that lives or works in New York State that wishes to obtain the Moderna vaccine. People can register by calling 607-643-3255; the deadline to sign up is 1:30 this afternoon.


National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum President Tim Mead announced that he will be resigning, effective mid-May.  Mead was named President in April 2019 following a 40-year career working for the Los Angeles Angels organization; he became the 7th president in the 82-year history of the organization, succeeding Jeff Idelson.

The State Labor Department announced that the state Economy Added 61,200 Private Sector Jobs in March.  The number of private sector jobs was over 7.4 Million; it was over 8.2 million before the pandemic.   New York State's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 8.9% to 8.5% in March.


Registration begins today for the 2021 Bainbridge Glow Run virtual event this year, to raise money for 1998 BG Graduate Michelle McCoy, who has been diagnosed with stage 3 Breast Cancer.   Local Cancer Survivor Heather Bucalos is once again organizing the Glow Run;

State Police at Norwich were dispatched Tuesday morning at about 10:00 AM to a reported domestic related incident involving 3 people at Fred's Inn in the town of Norwich.  An investigation revealed that 2 people were assaulted with a sharp object resulting in minor injuries; they were taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital & were treated and released.  The investigation is on-going and appears to be an isolated incident; Police are looking for 53 year old Jose Gonzalez of Norwich as a person of interest.


Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 50 year old David Lolik of Hartwick following a Domestic Dispute on March 22nd.   Lolik was charged with Criminal Contempt & Criminal Trespass; he was taken into custody and arraigned at the Otsego County Jail central arraignment where he was released on his own recognizance.


Delaware County Public Health reported 6 new COVID cases Thursday out of 684 tested, with 117 active cases, 233 mandatory quarantines & 19 hospitalized.


More than 50% of New Yorkers 18 years of age and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 1 in 3 in the same age group have been fully vaccinated. More than 12.5 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in New York State. 198,257 doses have been administered across the state's vast distribution network in the last 24 hours, and more than 1.5 million doses have been administered over the past seven days.
