Governor Cuomo today announced the next steps for the $15
minimum wage phase-in will take effect December 31st, following a report by the
Division of the Budget that found the decline in New York's unemployment rate
to record lows indicates that recent minimum wage increases have been absorbed
with little to no impacts in every region.
The minimum wage will rise $15.00 an hour in New York City & to
$11.80 on December 31st for the upstate Counties.


Raymond Corporation of Greene contributed to more than 150
nonprofit and educational organizations, spanning a variety of causes and efforts
this year, with monetary contributions, forklift donations and voluntary
participation of Raymond associates’ time.
Raymond also opened its doors to the public for several community and
educational events throughout 2019 to encourage the growth of the manufacturing
industry.  Raymond officials said that
they will continue to partner with local organizations in the coming years through
charity events that sponsor local community sports programs, high school
activities and arts programs.

The American Red Cross will hold
a Blood Drive in Sidney Next week.  The Blood
drive will be held on Monday at the AO Fox Hospital Tri-Town Campus from 1:30
to 6:30 PM, appointments are requested at 1-800-red cross or redcrossblood.org.

Fenimore Art Museum will host an opening reception today for
a showing of photographs of animals, taken at the Susquehanna Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, SPCA Spokesperson Alexis Izzo explains:

The exhibit, titled “Second Chances: Susquehanna SPCA,” The
opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 PM today in the museum’s
Community Gallery and is free and open to the public, the exhibit will be open
through the end of the month.


The Sidney Elks Lodge will hold a free Dinner this Saturday
for area veterans, service members & their families, lodge spokesman Mark

The State Office for the Aging encourages older New Yorkers
with Medicare to review and make any needed changes to their health plans and
prescription drug coverage for the upcoming year before the Medicare open
enrollment period ends on December 7, 2019. Plan changes take effect January 1,
2020.  Medicare health and prescription
drug plans can make changes each year to costs, coverage, and what providers
and pharmacies are in their networks.


Democrat Jim Barber of Middleburgh will challenge State
Senator James Seward for the Senate next year. Barber announced he will hold a
campaign launch event on Saturday, December 14th.  Barber’s public service includes 7 years as
the New York State Executive Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s
Farm Service Agency and 2 years in the State Department of Agriculture and
Markets as a Special Assistant to the Commissioner. Seward was first elected to
the state senate in 1986.
