The Spring Into Summer ticket sale will run from Thursday, June 18, through Monday, June 22, giving people their final chance to buy tickets for $6. Admission is still free for children under 12 and seniors 65 and older. The fair will open Aug. 26 and continue through Labor Day, with all concerts included in the admission price, Tickets are available at etix.com.

Flanagan Research Center on the CCHS museum campus, located at 43 Rexford St. The goals for these conversations are to coordinate festival logistics and determine what additional planning needs to be accomplished for hosting a successful program. “America’s Potluck & Turtle Island” welcomes the participation of libraries, arts organizations, historical societies, and other community organizations in this historic community event. Governor Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday that over $2 billion in tax relief checks will be sent out to nearly three million New York homeowners as part of the state's School Tax Relief (STAR) program. Hochul says most homeowners who are eligible for STAR credit will receive a check between $350 and $600. Seniors who are eligible will receive a check between $700 and $1,500.

Binghamton Police Department arrested 53 year old Stanley DeGroat of Binghamton and 47 year old Brett White of Binghamton, following a shooting. DeGroat was charged with Attempted murder, Criminal possession of a weapon, Criminal contempt & 4 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, White was charged with 8 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, following an incident Sunday, where DeGroat fired a shot that grazed the victim's hand, he fled the scene on a bicycle, he was located & taken into custody. Search warrants were obtained & executed at 2 locations, Officers found several rifles, shotguns, and 2 illegally possessed handguns, which led to White's arrest. Both face court action shortly, more charges may be forthcoming.

State Police announced that the missing person investigation involving 47 year old Lance Bogart of the Town of Tioga has concluded, as he was located deceased today in a creek near his residence. Bogart was reported missing 4 days ago, search efforts were conducted by State Police, including K9 units, drones and assistance from partner agencies, including DEC Forest Rangers. At this time, there is no indication of criminal activity. The investigation remains ongoing.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a complaint for a violation of a Delaware County Family Court Order of Protection. Deputies arrested 39-year-old Jonathan Gutliph of Hamden, he had violated the Order shortly after being served, he was charged with Criminal Contempt & was processed at the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to the Correctional Facility where he was arraigned and held on bail.

The FBI announced that they are now offering a $5 million reward for information regarding the murder of Shakeel Khan, outside his restaurant in Johnson City On March 30, 2019. Khan was shot and killed by a masked gunman outside his restaurant, on Riverside Drive, as he was closing up for the day.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 51 year old Thendara Hartwell of Plymouth for Making a Terroristic Threat and Falsely Reporting an Incident. On August 5th, the County's 911 Center received a call from Community Bank in Norwich stating that they received a bomb threat from an anonymous phone number. The Sheriff’s Office responded & evacuated multiple businesses, a State Police Explosives Detection Canine and bomb technician conducted a search of the entire premises and did not locate any signs of explosive devices & the businesses re-opened. After an investigation and execution of a search warrant, it was found that Hartwell made the threatening phone call from a blocked phone number and caused public alarm and inconvenience. Hartwell was taken into custody today & was arraigned & she was
remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $1,250 bail.

On January 30th, Johnson City Police responded to 22 Sanford Street for a report of shots fired, Santiago-Pepin approached the residence, produced a handgun, and fired at the building multiple times, officers apprehended Santiago-Pepin after a brief chase on foot, Police found that he possessed a 2nd weapon.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 38 year old Justin Quakenbush of Oneonta Monday for Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer and Reckless Endangerment. Deputies arrested Quackenbush following a report of a stolen vehicle, Deputies were able to locate the stolen vehicle in the City of Norwich, they initiated a traffic stop and Quackenbush failed to comply and led Deputies on a pursuit through the City and into the Town of New Berlin. Quackenbush stopped in South New Berlin where he was taken into custody, he was transported back to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office for processing and was arraigned & he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Police arrested 34 year old Zachary England of Norwich, for 1 count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, 18 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, plus Tampering with Physical Evidence among other charges, England was found in possession of $1,800 in cash upon arrest, along with fentanyl and methamphetamine. England was arraigned and was held without bail due to prior felony convictions, the investigation remains ongoing.

Sidney Police Department responded to a domestic dispute Saturday at a residence on West Main Street, where a man was destroying property. Officers located 45 year old Arthur Cotten in the garage, he began dousing the floor and the garage with gasoline, Officers attempted to stop him, he was able to ignite the gas can with a lighter, Officers were able to physically restrain Cotten and pull him and themselves away from the fire, which was quickly extinguished. Cotten was charged with Aggravated family offense, Reckless endangerment, Attempted Arson, Criminal possession of a weapon, Attempted Assault, Criminal mischief, Resisting arrest, Menacing and Obstruction of governmental administration, Cotten was arraigned at the Delaware County Central Arraignment court where he was released on $1000 cash bail to appear back in court at a later date.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers located a 9mm handgun & methamphetamine, Theill was charged with Criminal Possession Of A Weapon, & Criminal Possession Of Controlled Substance With Intent To Sell & Criminal Nuisance, he was processed and arraigned & was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $50,000 Bail. State Police and local law enforcement will conduct special traffic enforcement during Columbus Day weekend to combat speeding and impaired driving. State Police remind motorists to Obey the speed limit, designate a sober driver, or plan for a ride share to get home safely, always wear seat-belts and do not drive distracted. The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office has released more information regarding a fatal accident on Sunday, at about 1:00 AM. Patrols responded to Bailey Hollow Road in Newark Valley after reports of a crash, where the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The driver of the car was an unidentified 17-year-old, the driver & 3 passengers were taken to Wilson Hospital, 18 year old Connor VanZile of Newark Valley, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.

The Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta announced that the Paula Cole Concert scheduled for this Friday Night has been canceled. The State Police are continuing the special enforcement initiative to crack down on impaired and reckless driving this holiday season. The enforcement campaign is part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiative and runs from Wednesday, December 13, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024. Drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints, Troopers will be watching for distracted drivers, vehicle occupants who are not properly buckled up, and drivers violating the “Move Over Law,” State Police will also conduct underage drinker enforcement details statewide. During last year’s crackdown, State Police arrested 453 people for DWI and issued 32,934 tickets, including 11,305 tickets for speeding, 912 for distracted driving, and 316 for the “Move Over Law.”

Norwich Firefighters responded early Thursday Morning to 137 Horstman Lane for a reported structure fire in a mobile home, they located a fire in the ceiling and roof area of the structure. Crews quickly extinguished the fire containing it to the room of origin along with ensuring all occupants were clear of the structure. Firefighters from New Berlin & North Norwich also responded, the cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported & all occupants safely evacuated without injuries.

37-year-old Justin Knapp was found guilty in Broome County Court for Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Tampering with Physical Evidence. On January 14, Knapp possessed an illegal .22 caliber pistol. While investigating an incident in the Town of Lisle, State Police attempted to stop a vehicle in which Knapp was a passenger in Newark Valley. The vehicle refused to stop, and a pursuit began, the car crashed, & Knapp was seen tossing something out of the window. With the help of a canine, troopers recovered the pistol later that day. Knapp faces sentencing at a later date.

Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 47 year old Russell Ellis of Hancock, was convicted of 3rd degree Assault, for assaulting a woman during an argument in Deposit in July. State Police responded to the incident and took Ellis into custody, he was later remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility. Ellis appeared in Hancock Village Court and pleaded guilty to Assault and was sentenced to time served and a 1-year conditional discharge, the Court also issued an Order of Protection in favor of the victim, he was ordered to pay a fine of $500, a surcharge of $205, a DNA fee of $50.00 and to provide a DNA sample for inclusion in the State DNA database.

Daniel Erickson of Greene pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday morning to Luring a Child and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Erickson he former middle school principal in the Johnson City School District, He is accused of communicating with a Johnson City High School student in an attempt to entice the student to perform sexual acts and attempting to meet her with the intention of having sexual relations with her. Erickson was arrested on July 7th, he resigned his position as principal.
State Police at Troop C announced that 71 year old Donald Eldred of Oxford was found safe, after being reported missing by a family member who had tried to contact him.

Broome County Sheriff's Deputies responded Tuesday to a report of a physical injury domestic dispute in the Town of Binghamton, they found a female victim with lacerations, 38 year old Adam Gurney of Binghamton, was arrested, after deputies found that he had a full Stay Away Order of Protection against him, he also had an outstanding arrest warrant through the Town of Vestal, for violating an order of protection. Gurney was charged with Criminal Contempt, Aggravated Family Offense, Criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, he was arraigned and has remained in custody of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.

The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 50 year old Ashraf Moussa of Schuyler Lake on 9 counts of possession of a forged instrument. Moussa is accused of utilizing forged documents and licenses to buy and sell vehicles for profit. A search warrant was executed at the defendant's residence where numerous other forged documents were located and seized, he is being held in the Otsego County Correctional Facility pending Court action.

State Police arrested an Otsego County juvenile for Making a Terroristic Threat. State Police reported that on Tuesday approximately 40 illegitimate phone calls were made to Otsego County 911 between 7:00 & 9:00 PM, some of the calls threatened the 911 center and members of Law Enforcement. An investigation led troopers to a residence in the city of Oneonta where troopers interviewed an adult and a juvenile. The juvenile was arrested and issued a Family Court Appearance ticket. Investigators determined there are no other suspects involved.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 38 year old Ashley McLean of South Kortright following a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Meredith on last Sunday, on State Highway 28 in the Town of Meredith. Deputies reported that the driver left the scene after running off the roadway, striking a guide rail & abandoning the vehicle a short distance away. McLean is accused of driving with a suspended license & was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation & 5 other traffic infractions; she was released & was ordered to appear in the Town of Meredith Court at a later date.

State Senator Jim Seward announced a $1 million state grant to help fund major renovations and improvements at historic Damaschke Field in Oneonta. The $1 million capital grant secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program will be used to demolish the park's grandstand and rehabilitate the space to provide a family-friendly recreational area.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies, Walton Village Police, New York State Police, & several local Emergency Squads responded Thursday to a head-on collision, with 5 victims and 1 entrapment, on County Highway 21 near the intersection of Russell Road in the Town of Walton. The Investigation by Sheriff's Deputies determined that 42 year old Jeremy Shaw of Walton was driving a pickup truck when he crossed over the center line and struck a SUV head on driven by 43 year old Michael Franzese of Pearl River. Franzese was transported to Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton with head and facial injuries and was later transferred to UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, 41 year old Diane Franzese, 12 year old Anthony Franzese and 10 year old Angelina Franzese were also transported to Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton, they suffered various injuries and were treated and released. Jeremy Shaw sustained injuries to his head and lower extremities, as well as possible internal injuries, and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center. The cause of this accident remains under investigation.

State Police responded Wednesday night to a 2-vehicle collision on State Route 206, in the town of Bainbridge. A 2002 Mitsubishi operated by 18-year-old Maleek Smith of Staatsburg crossed into the opposite lane into the path of a Chevrolet SUV driven by 53-year-old Joseph Artuso of Syracuse. Smith was eventually air lifted to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, where he was pronounced deceased due to accident related trauma. Artuso and his two passengers were transported to Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney, NY where were treated for minor injuries and released. The investigation is continuing.
State Police and local law enforcement will participate in the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign beginning today. Through Saturday, December 30th. State Police will also be conducting an enforcement period over New Year's Eve, from Sunday, December 31st to Monday, January 1st. Police will set up DWI checkpoints and patrols, Troopers will be watching for distracted drivers, vehicle occupants who are not properly buckled up, and drivers violating the "Move Over Law," & they will also conduct underage drinker enforcement details statewide.
Planning is already underway for the 50th anniversary celebration of the 1969 Woodstock concert, and the Regional Economic Development Council awards includes $690,000 for the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, located on the site of the original Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The three-day concert held in August 1969 drew more than 400,000 rock music fans to Max Yasgur's farm in the town of Bethel. Bethel Woods will use the state funding for the 2019 anniversary event, they are also planning the event as a 3-day festival.

Governor Cuomo today unveiled the 3rd proposal of the 2018 State of the State: to invest $100 million to launch the 3rd round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative which is aimed at transforming communities with a variety of economic development projects. The downtown areas will be selected by the state's Regional Economic Development Councils. Locally, in the 1st round, the City of Oneonta won a $10 million dollar award through the Mohawk Valley Regional Development Council; they are currently in the process of the downtown upgrades funded through that award.
Downsville Central School District officials reported that 6 students suffered minor injuries & were taken to area hospital as a precautionary measure, after a crash Thursday morning. Investigators believe that a truck lost control while making a turn on Route 30 in the town of Hancock, and hit a district school bus carrying 31 students. The investigation is being conducted by the Delaware County Sheriff's department.

Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir made only a mild adjustment to the bail of Ernest Franklin of Guilford this week. Franklin's cash bail remained the same at $125,000, bond was reduced from $250,000 to $200,000 Thursday, Franklin is accused of planning the murder of his special needs son Jeffrey Franklin & setting fire to the family home to cover up the murder. Heather Franklin is currently out on bail; both will be tried separately next year, according to Chenango County DA Joe McBride.

Norwich Police arrested 55-year-old John Stacy of Norwich for Possessing Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child & Failure to register as a Sex Offender. Stacy is accused of possessing pornographic materials containing children under the age of 16 & failing to notify authorities of his social media accounts within the required 10 day period for registered Level 2 sex offenders. Stacy was arraigned in Norwich City Court & was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $50.000 cash bail pending court action on September 19th.

Over the past year the Music Hall has produced more than 2 dozen major concerts, including by REO Speedwagon, Kansas, and Third Eye Blind, among others. The Maine-Endwell Little League World Series team will be honored at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown this weekend. The Maine-Endwell team was the champions of Little League World Series in August, Team members and coaches will visit the Hall of Fame on Sunday, for a special 1:00 PM ceremony hosted by Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson.
