The Afton Girl Scouts & Cobra Industries are continuing
to collect donations for Military Care Packages to be sent to troops overseas

A.O. Fox Hospital announced that they will hold a
ribbon-cutting ceremony to open its new Food “Farmacy” program on Monday,
January 6th in Sidney, spokesperson Sarah Buttice explains:

Fox will be partnering with a number of local businesses and
food pantries for supplies, the physical Food Farmacy will be located at A.O.
Fox Hospital’s Tri-Town Campus, 43 Pearl Street West in Sidney.


Delaware County Sheriff Deputies responded December 8th to a
1 car accident in the Town of Kortright.
22 year old Zachary Keenan of Delancey was the operator of the vehicle,
he was charged with DWI, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a BAC of greater than
.08%, failure to keep right and operating a motor vehicle with no seat
belt.  Keenan was taken to O'Connor
Hospital in Delhi & was treated & released, he is due to appear in Town
of Kortright Court at a later date to answer the charges.


Governor Cuomo today unveiled the 4th proposal of his 2020
State of the State agenda; closing the rape intoxication loophole. Current Law
does not adequately protect victims of sexual offenses who could not consent to
sexual activity due to voluntary intoxication.
Under current law, a person is deemed incapable of consent when he or
she is mentally incapacitated, but it states mental incapacitation occurs when
a person involuntarily ingests drugs or alcohol. The exclusion of
incapacitation due to the voluntary ingestion of drugs or alcohol limits the
ability to fully prosecute sexual assaults.


State Supreme Court Judge Richard Rich Jr. has denied a
motion ordering a recount in the Broome County District Attorney race, which
allows the Board of Elections to certify that Libertarian Michael Korchak will
be the Next Broome County District Attorney.
Korchak now officials defeats Republican candidate Paul Battisti by 55
votes.


Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 27 year-old
Jonathan Ferrer of Geneva, Saturday, following a routine Traffic stop.  Ferrer was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed
Operation of a motor vehicle & Speeding at 79 miles per hour in a 55 mph
zone. Ferrer was released on tickets and is to appear in Town of Colchester
Court at a later date.


Area Congressman Antonio Delgado
& Anthony Brindisi both announced that they will vote in Favor of
Impeachment of President Trump.  Brindisi
released a statement saying that while he appreciates that President Trump has
signed into law bills that Brindisi authored, but he said that the President
broke the law by trying to block the testimony of key subpoenaed witnesses that
had direct knowledge of the administration’s actions.

Governor Cuomo unveiled the 2nd proposal of his 2020 State
of the State agenda: legislation banning fentanyl analogs, which is a deadly
synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, by making
them subject to the same criminal sale or possession penalties as other
controlled substances. The legislation will give the State Health Commissioner
the power to ban any new fentanyl analogs that have been added to the federal
schedule of controlled substances, The Governor will also propose a series of
actions to expand access to medication assisted treatment for opioid use
disorder in hard to reach communities.


The next Meeting of the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce is
this morning.  The meeting will begin at

The Delaware County Fair Board has voted to prohibit its
vendors from displaying Confederate flags and related merchandise at the 2019
fair, but will not forbid their sale, according to Delaware County Sheriff
Craig Dumond.    The policy is the same
as last year; however, Confederate merchandise was on full display at that
fair, this year, Sheriff DuMond said the no-display policy will be
"aggressively enforced."  The
fair board's decision follows the efforts of “Fair for All” to end the sale and
display of the Confederate flag at the fair which they view as a symbol of
white supremacy & hatred which should not be at a county fair.


The State Senate and Assembly voted to exempt nursing
mothers from jury duty.  The legislation
would permit women to delay jury duty up to 2 years if they are breastfeeding a
baby, The bill now goes to Governor Cuomo,
who is expected to sign the measure into law.


The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office and NYS State Police
escorted runners in the annual New York "Run for the Fallen" Saturday
State Route 20 through Otsego County.
The annual New York "Run for the Fallen" spans more than 170
miles and honors New York military service members who died as a result of
serving the War on Terror.


Greater Chenango Cares is once again coming to Norwich with
free medical, dental, vision and veterinary services provided to the community
by military medical personnel.  Elizabeth

first 2 Chenango Cares events provided over 2 million dollars’ worth of
services to over 5 thousand patients, while readying military personnel for any
possible deployment for their medical services This year’s event will be held
at Norwich High School from July 11th through the 20th.


Don Clayton Memorial Trailside
Concert Series returns to Sidney on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in July &
August.  The series will begin with the
Sidney Community Band performing on July 10th under the pavilion at Keith Clark

The State DEC is asking the public to report moose
sightings, to assist a multi-year research project.  Moose sightings increase in the spring with
the rising temperatures and melting snow.
In 2018, a total of 220 moose observations were reported to DEC, a
noticeable increase from the 163 reports in 2017, Most moose sightings occur
within the Adirondacks, but neighboring states Connecticut and Massachusetts
also have moose populations, resulting in observations in the southeast portion
of New York.


Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested 43-year-old
Lisa Myers of Delancey, for Strangulation, Endangering the Welfare of a Child
& 3rd Degree Assault. Myers was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court, and
released on her own recognizance, to re-appear in that Court at a later time
for further Court action.


For more than 25 years, the Youth Apprenticeship Program has
been an integral part of The Raymond Corporation’s commitment to science,
technology, engineering and mathematics education, as well as played a large
role in building the workforce of the future. Working with high schools
throughout the Southern Tier of New York area, this program provides a
hands-on, experiential approach to learning for junior and senior high school
students.   This year, Raymond celebrates
six graduates from its Youth Apprenticeship Program from Greene, Chenango

The City of Oneonta has been awarded funds from the State
Office of Community Renewal for a Microenterprise Business Assistance Program.
Grant awards will assist new and existing businesses throughout the City.  Eligible businesses must have 5 or fewer
employees and owners, and create jobs for persons meeting low-to-moderate
income limits. The funding is being offered in 2 rounds, the Round 1 deadline
is 4:00 pm on Friday, July 5th; the 2nd Round deadline is 4:00 pm on Friday,

Delaware County Sheriff's
Deputies, State Police and the Stamford Fire Department and Emergency Squad
responded to a 911 report of a fatal hit-and-run vehicle-pedestrian accident on
State Highway 10 in the Village of Stamford.
The Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, 24 year-old
Shannon German of Stamford was lying in the roadway when she was struck by a
tractor trailer that continued traveling north following the collision.  State Highway 10 was subsequently closed to
traffic for several hours for the investigation.  The tractor trailer and driver was located in
the Schenectady area by State Police, who has been identified as 50-year-old
Peter Baldauf of Delancey, who did not see German lying in the roadway and
unknowingly struck her.  Baldauf has not
been charged in relation to the accident.

been named to participate in the budget conference committees, now that both
houses of the legislature have passed their budget bills:

The budget is due on April 1st,
the state budget office stated that the Senate budget would add 3.5 billion
dollars to the deficit, the assembly bill adds unnecessary spending & added
taxes to pay for it.


A town of Norwich resident was
arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for 2nd degree Assault.  20 year old Kyle Nowalk was arrested
following an investigation into an incident in the Chenango County Jail for
allegedly caused physical injury to a victim within the detention
facility.  Nowalk will appear in the Town
of Norwich Court at a later date.


A Town of Norwich resident was
arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Aggravated Unlicensed
Operation of a Motor Vehicle.  46 year
old Leon Lamb was arrested following a traffic stop on County Road 32 in the
Town of Norwich, Lamb was allegedly operating a motor vehicle with a suspended
license, and he was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the
Chenango County Correctional Facility on $1,000 cash bail. Lamb is to appear in
the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.


Officials with Social Security
report that a scam reported in January is still continuing.  The scam includes a phone call from someone
claiming to be from Social Security or another agency, thee calls can even
display the Social Security national customer service number, on the caller
ID.  The scammer states that Social
Security does not have all of your personal information on file, or needs
additional information so the agency can increase benefit payments, or that
Social Security will terminate your benefits if they do not confirm your
information; none of These calls are from Social Security. Officials stated
that if you receive these calls, do not give personal information, hang up
& report the call to the Office of the Inspector General at 1-800-269-0271.


State Police and local law
enforcement will conduct a special targeted enforcement detail this St.
Patrick's Day weekend to deter drinking and driving. The traffic enforcement
detail begins today and runs through Monday. Drivers can expect a number of
sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, underage drinking and sales to
minors details during the campaign. State Police will also be ticketing
distracted drivers who use handheld electronic devices.   During the 2018 St. Patrick's Day weekend
enforcement effort, Troopers made 243 arrests for DWI and issued nearly 13,000
tickets.


The Rotary Club of Sidney will
be hosting a fundraiser Saturday for the Howard & Catherine Lynch

The Greater Afton Area Chamber
of Commerce will host their Annual Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser at 4:00 pm
Saturday outside of Afton Central School during Afton Sertoma's Goofy Golf
event.   Proceeds from the drop benefit
the Greater Afton Area Chamber of Commerce, "Payne's Cranes," will be
