Chaquasja Veale of Norwich pleaded guilty today to 2nd degree Murder in Chenango County Court for the death of 44 year old Alisa Martin of Norwich. Veale was arrested last December, Martin was found deceased in her home at 89 North Broad Street last July.
State Police “Speed Week” enforcement crackdown starts today and runs through Sunday, June 9th. State Police will deploy additional patrols, as Speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one third of all fatal crashes in New York State. Troopers will be using both marked State Police vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement (CITE) vehicles as part of the operation. Last Year, State Troopers issued 20,952 total traffic tickets, including 10,478 for speeding, 516 for distracted driving, 375 for violations of the Move Over law, and arrested 172 people for drunk and impaired driving.
Delaware County Board of Elections reminds County voters that the Primary Elections will be held on June 25th. There will be Democratic Party Primaries in Roxbury for the Town Council, in the 102nd Assembly District, There will be no Republican primary elections in Delaware County on June 25th The last day to register for the primary is June 15th, the last day for the Board of Elections to receive early mail/absentee ballot applications online or by mail is June 15th. Early Voting, Saturday, June 15th through Sunday, June 23rd will be held at the Board of Elections Office 97 Main St, Suite 5, Delhi 607-832-5321
Binghamton Police are investigating a shooting outside "The Cave" Nightclub at 53 Chenango Street, early Sunday Morning. The unidentified 28 year old male was shot in the chest & was taken to an area hospital.

34 year old Dupray Jordan of Binghamton was sentenced in US District Court Thursday to 97 months in federal prison for possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Jordan admitted that he possessed methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as a loaded .38 caliber revolver in a Binghamton apartment on November 12, 2021. Jordan was already a convicted felon, having previously been convicted in New York state court for 2nd degree Assault, he was also sentenced to serve a post-incarceration term of supervised release of 3 years following his release from federal prison.
59 year old Michael Frascatore of Treadwell was sentenced in Federal Court last week to 18 months’ imprisonment after previously pleading guilty to failing to register and update his registration as a sex offender, and to violating the terms of his supervised release for a prior sex offense conviction. Frascatore admitted that he was a Level I sex offender in New York , he created an email address & had an unauthorized, internet-capable phone; and he communicating with minors online, including by sending explicit photos of himself to minors. Frascatore’s sentence includes 8 months’ imprisonment on the new criminal charge followed by a consecutive term of 10 months’ imprisonment on the supervised release violation. Frascatore will also serve 10 years on supervised release as part of his sentence.
Blood Supplies remain low and the American Red Cross will hold 2 blood drives today, 1 in SIDNEY from 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., at the A.O. Fox Tri-Town Campus, 43 Pearl St West, another will be in Worcester from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m., at the Worcester United Methodist Church, Appointments can be made at RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
State Department of Agriculture is issuing a consumer alert after elevated levels of lead were found in ground ginger and cinnamon powder manufactured by Badia Spices. The spices were sold at multiple retailers in New York state. Anyone who may have purchased these spices is advised not to consume them and to discard them immediately.

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that 33 year old Dupray Jordan of Binghamton entered a guilty plea in US District Court for possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with the intent to sell, possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, in connection with a warrant executed in November of 2021. Jordan faces up to 20 years in prison, a series of fines, when he is sentenced on May 8, 2024 in Syracuse.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Leroy Williams for unlawful dissemination or publication of an intimate image, a warrant has been issued for Williams’ arrest in the revenge porn case.
The State Court of Appeals ordered new Congressional maps be drawn for the 2024 election, the redistricting decision will ensure that all , district lines should be drawn by the Independent Redistricting Commission, and not by state lawmakers.
Bassett Healthcare Network will enter the new year with Staci Thompson taking over for Dr. Tommy Ibrahim, she told WCDO News that the recruitment efforts will continue in order to meet the goals of the organization:

The Bassett Healthcare Network board voted to appoint Thompson, who has been the Network’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, as Dr. Ibrahim’s successor, on an interim basis starting on January 1st.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies were contacted by members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office December 19th, that they had 59-year-old Eva Witteman in custody. Delaware County Deputies took Witteman into custody and transported her to the Delaware County Correctional Facility where she was arraigned & held without bail, an indictment was unsealed & she is accused of possessing methamphetamine following an investigation of an abandoned vehicle in February, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, she was was released on her own recognizance and directed to appear in court at a later date for these charges.
A Red Cross Blood drive is scheduled in Cooperstown today from 12:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Otsego County Office of Emergency Services, 140 County Highway 33W. Schedule an appointment by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
