Corey Burnett of Bainbridge will be participating in the
Lucas Oil Motocross Championship tomorrow at Unadilla Motocross on State Route
8 in New Berlin, Burnett told WCDO Sports Director Nate Lull about his decision
to go back to the 250 class after racing in the 450 in previous years:

Burnett said that he will meet up with fans right near the
State route 8 entrance at 8:00 AM prior to racing.


The Summer Concert Season at the Anderson Center at the

Catholic Charities in Sidney is once again offering free
backpacks to local children in need for the 2019-202 school year, Spokesperson

Delaware County Office for the Aging will hold their 6th
annual Senior Fun Day on Wednesday August 21st, from 9:30 Am to 3:00 PM, at
Camp Shankitunk in Delhi.  Reservations

The Greater Afton Area Chamber of Commerce is holding their
Sunday Summer Concert Series; This Sunday will feature "Searching For
Meaning" outside of the Afton Free Library.  More information about the Sunday Summer

The Bainbridge Old Time Band will continue with their series
of summer concerts tonight.  The Concerts
are held at the Bainbridge Village Green Park at 7:00 PM.  the last show of the series will be August
29th, in the event of inclement weather, the shows are moved inside to the Town
hall Theater.


The Afton VFW at 187 Main Street will host a Free Arts and
Crafts Morning for ages 4 years old thru - 4th grade level, Saturday at 10:00

Caveman Construction will host a car show Saturday at Fortin
park in Oneonta.  All proceeds will go
for local women suffering with Ovarian Cancer that are being cared for by

About 1000 NYSEG customers were without power at about 6:00
this morning, following yesterday's storms.
About 550 customers were without power, at about 11:00 AM, the number
was down to 100 by midafternoon, crews are working to restore power as soon as
possible.


Governor Cuomo signed legislation creating a Class E felony
for staged motor vehicle accidents when a person intentionally causes a motor
vehicle collision with the intent to commit a fraudulent insurance act. This
measure also creates a class D felony for when a person commits the same crime
and causes serious physical injury to another individual who was not a
participant in the crime.  The
legislation is named after Alice Ross, who was killed when her vehicle was
struck by another vehicle, which was the result of an intentional attempt to
commit auto insurance fraud by the other driver who planned to file insurance
claims and receive a substantial settlement as a result of the crash.

Ernest Franklin of Guilford was sentenced in Chenango County
Court Monday, to 21 years to life in state prison, for the murder of his
adopted and disabled teen son Jeffrey, and starting a fire at the family home
to cover it up, in February of 2017.
Franklin planned the murder with his wife, Heather Franklin, who
accepted a guilty plea to manslaughter; she has not been sentenced for her role
in the murder.


The Greater Chenango Cares event, with Military Medical
personnel performing medical dental & Veterinary services, will begin at
the Norwich High School this Thursday through July 20th.  The Chenango United Way is coordinating

Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig announced that Oneonta Attorney
Donald Schwartz has been appointed a part time City Judge.  Schwartz fills the position vacated by the
retirement of Judge Richard McVinney, he was sworn in by Mayor Herzig Monday
afternoon.


The Sidney Elks Lodge will hold their Annual "Looking

Delhi Telephone Company is expanding broadband services into
previously unserved or underserved areas, with Internet, Cable TV including HD

Miller said that DTC
Representatives will be hosting a Meet & Greet with the Sidney center Fire
Department Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00 PM, as their services are available in
Sidney Center.

State Police arrested 36 year old Joshua Brown of West
Monroe, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While
Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers responded to County Road 32 in the town of
North Norwich for a 1-car accident, they located the vehicle in a corn field
with Brown behind the wheel.  Brown was
transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital for an evaluation.  An investigation yielded suspected
concentrated cannabis, LSD, mushrooms and Marihuana wax.  Brown was arraigned in the town of Norwich
court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000
property bond.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 26 year old
Alexander Dietrich of Hawley, Pennsylvania for DWI and Driving with a BAC
greater that 0.08%. The arrest occurred during the course of an investigation
of a reported one car motor vehicle accident on State Highway 17 in the Town of
Hancock.  Dietrich was arraigned in the
Town of Hancock Court and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional
Facility on $500 cash bail or $1,000 dollars secured bond pending future court
action.


Otsego County Sheriff’s Department arrested of a Town of
Laurens man found to be in possession of contraband in the Otsego County
Correctional Facility.  20 year old
Dakota Coffey was charged with Introduction of Dangerous Contraband After he
was found in possession of a vape pen containing THC oil hidden on his person
while being processed into the Otsego County Jail and it was located later by
staff after a search of his housing unit.
Coffey was arraigned in the Town of Hartwick Court where he was released
on his own recognizance.

The Binghamton Police Department arrested 59 year old Jerry
Hopkins of Binghamton, for 2nd degree Arson, for allegedly setting fire at the
Dixie 2000 Rooming House at 106 Henry Street Monday Morning.  Police stated that the 1st floor office was
broken into & a liquid accelerant was ignited, which led to an explosion
& significant damage.  The fire was
extinguished by the buildings sprinkler system, no injuries were reported. The
investigation is ongoing, anyone with information is asked to call Binghamton Police
at 772-7080.


Securities industry profits in 2018 were 11% higher than the
previous year, but the average bonus paid to industry employees declined by
almost 17%, according to an estimate released by State Comptroller Tom
DiNapoli.  Despite increased market
volatility, and the worst December for the Dow Jones Industrial Average since
1931, the industry had an 11% growth in pretax profits for the broker/dealer
operations of New York Stock Exchange member firms.  Profits totaled $27.3 billion in 2018, up
from $24.5 billion in 2017, Employment in the securities industry increased to
181,300 jobs, the highest level in a decade.


Governor Cuomo announced available assistance for farmers
impacted by extreme rainfall and wet weather conditions last summer. Last week,
the federal government declared 12 counties across the state as natural
disaster areas. With these designations, farmers in the impacted areas may be
eligible for assistance, including emergency loans, from the United States Department
of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.

More than 500 fire departments across New York have already
signed up for the 9th Annual Recruit NY Weekend (April 27 – 28). Recruit NY is
a cornerstone campaign of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York,
with the goal of increasing membership in the State’s volunteer fire
service.  During the weekend, volunteer
fire departments will open their doors and provide the public with a glimpse of
what it means to be a volunteer firefighter.

Broome County DA Steven Cornwell announced that a Broome
County Grand Jury handed up a 5-count indictment against 45 year old Wilfredo
Pica-Torres of Binghamton, for 2nd-degree murder, attempted Murder & 1st
& 2nd degree arson in connection with incident on Walnut Street in
Binghamton in February.  Pica-Torres is
accused of intentionally setting a fire to a building at 109 Walnut Street in
Binghamton on February 9th, which led to the death of Victor Banayan.


Osteoporosis will be the next topic that will be discussed
by Melissa Tworkowsky of UHS Orthopedics of Norwich, at Bohemian Moon at 103 W.
Main Street in Norwich this evening.  The
program is part of UHS Chenango Memorial's 2019 Women's Health Series, held
