State Police announced the termination of Michael O’Flaherty, a former State Police Narcotics Investigator, after pleading guilty in a federal court to making false statements. O'Flaherty disclosed a Covert Investigation to his Former Confidential Informant, who was a Prolific Dealer of Fentanyl, and Then Lied to Federal Investigators About his Conduct. O’FLAHERTY of Poughkeepsie, could be sentenced to 5 years in prison.
The 28th Goodyear Lake Polar Bear Jump will be Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 12:30 pm, to raise money for about a dozen area children suffering from a variety of medical issues, organizer Brenda Waters explains:

Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar commented today on Wednesday night’s "shots fired" investigation in the Town of Dickinson:

Akshar said that the 4 people were trying to leave the area in an Uber and were taken into custody, and All four were arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility on $1,000 bail, they all posted bail and have been released. The Port Dickinson Police Department and the Broome County Sheriff's Office teamed up on the arrests and investigation.
State Police and local law enforcement agencies statewide are participating in the national enforcement initiative to eliminate impaired driving during this year’s Super Bowl celebrations. The campaign runs through Super Bowl Sunday, there will be increased patrols, sobriety checkpoints, police will target speeding, distracted driving and other reckless driving behaviors.
State Police arrested 21 year old Colby Gravelin for Grand Larceny, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Troopers observed a vehicle with vehicle and traffic infractions, a traffic stop was initiated, Gravelin failed a Field Sobriety Test, Gravelin was found to be in possession of suspected illegal drugs. Troopers learned that Gravelin was a suspect in a larceny from Home Depot in Oneonta in December, where he allegedly left the store with about $1700 in merchandise without paying for it, Gravelin was issued appearance tickets for the Oneonta City Court & Oneonta Town Court at later dates.
Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 49 year old Adam Lund of Columbus on an Arrest Warrant issued by the Town of New Berlin Court for Sex Offender Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of Address Change. Lund was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in the Town of Columbus Court. Lund was released on his own recognizance and will appear in the Town of New Berlin Court on a later date.

51 year old Shane Johnson of Grand Gorge was sentenced to 6 months in jail to be followed by 5 years of felony probation supervision for his conviction of Grand Larceny. On February 13, 2025, State Police responded to Mountainside Creamery in the Town of Roxbury regarding a report that several items had been stolen. Troopers discovered that the items had been sold for scrap by Johnson, he later admitted to stealing the items valued at over $3,000, Johnson was remanded to the Delaware County Correction Facility to begin serving his sentence, If he violates the terms of probation, he faces the possibility of being re-sentenced to 2 and 1/3 to 7 years in state prison.
Local Film-makers Joe Stillman & Jeri Wachter will be showing 5 of their Documentaries on uniquely American Stories today & Saturday at Foothills in Oneonta, Joe Stillman told WCDO News about the films:
