This Year's Memorial Day Parade in Sidney will be combined with the annual SFCU Hometown Parade, for the 250th year old our country, organizer Anna Banks of SFCU explains:

people from all over the region who would like to participate can just show up at 8:00 AM on Monday Memorial Day.
The old Great American Supermarket & former adjacent stores have been removed & the New Stewart's Shops will be constructed, Chuck Marshall of Stewart's said that the store should be up & running fairly quickly:

The New Stewart's will include Amenities like a gas station, electric vehicle charging, in additional to the retail store inside, at the corner of West Main & Steiner Road in Sidney.
This Year's General Clinton Canoe Regatta will feature the competition among area singers, with the winners getting to sing on stage at this summer's biggest event in Sidney, according to organizer Ed Curley:

The competition will start at 1:00 pm in the Main Event Tent on Saturday at General Clinton Park in Banbridge during this years' General Clinton Canoe Regatta.
Delaware County Department of Public Works and Delaware County Government has closed the Downsville Covered Bridge, over the East Branch of the Delaware River to through traffic for the foreseeable future, Crews will be repairing structural deficiencies, the traveling public should use alternate routes.
Hartwick College has received a $10 million investment from Brent Nicklas, retired founder of Lexington Partners, a leading alternative investment firm. Hartwick College President James Mullen comments:

Mullen said that in recognition of this generosity, the School of Nursing will be named the Brent R. Nicklas School of Nursing at Hartwick College.

Over 4,800 bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral candidates will participate in Commencement ceremonies at SUNY Binghamton today through Saturday, on campus. All ceremonies will be streamed live via the Binghamton University's YouTube Channel.

The land has been cleared & construction will begin soon for the new Stewart's Shop on West Main Street & Steiner Road in Sidney, Stewart's Director of Real Estate Chuck Marshall told WCDO About the store:

Marshall said that the new Stewart's Shop in Sidney should be open for business this July.
The Chenango County Hazard Mitigation plan draft plan review will be held Wednesday online from 10:00 Am to 11:00 AM and 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The plan can be read at chenangocountyny.gov, following the meeting, the public review period will be for 30 days. The QR codes for each meeting can be found at the Chenango County Planning Department Facebook page.
On Saturday, May 2, an estimated 5,000 volunteers are expected to participate in I Love My Park Day, the state's largest single-day volunteer event, with projects taking place at more than 160 sites across New York. For more information and to view events go to ptny.org/events
The Butternut Valley Alliance is accepting artist submissions for the annual "On the Trail of Art" forest exhibition, to be held June 13-14 at General Jacob Morris State Forest. Artists are invited to submit weatherproof work for outdoor display along a forest trail transformed into an immersive gallery. Artists may also contribute work to BVA's online auction. 41 year old Frank Giacalone of Walton, pleaded guilty to Felony Driving While Intoxicated in Delaware County Court, The plea was entered as part of a negotiated disposition where it is anticipated that Giacalone will be sentenced to 1 to 3 years in state prison. State Police responded to the report of a vehicle hit a fire hydrant on Mead Street in the Village of Walton, then backed up and drove away. A Trooper observed a piece of the vehicle’s front bumper near the fire hydrant, found the vehicle matching the description, missing a portion of its front bumper, Giacalone failed field sobriety tests & was arrested, he'll be sentenced at a later date.
Delaware County DPW will be closing bridges to through traffic for inspections, including the Hamden Covered Bridge on May 11th & 12th, the Downsville Covered Bridge May 13th to May 15th, the Fitches Covered Bridge on May 16, through Monday, May 18, The traveling public should use alternate routes.
Golfers are invited to sharpen their swing and safeguard their season during ‘Improve Your Swing, Protect Your Game,” installment of UHS Chenango Memorial’s new sports medicine series. The event will take place at 6:00 tonight at Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich, presented by Physical therapist Allison O’Neill & Dr. Keith Cordischi. The program is free and open to the public.
