The State Preparedness Corps will conduct disaster preparedness training Today at the Sidney Public Library. The Training is free, There will 2 sessions, one from 3:00 to 4:30 PM for senior citizens & another for the general public from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The Tri County Senior Center & The Sidney United Way are co-sponsoring the Disaster Training, pre-registration is requested at 563-8065, or in person at the Senior Center in the SIdney Civic Center.

The New York State Preparedness Corps will conduct disaster preparedness training on Tuesday November 7th at the Sidney Public Library. The Training is free, & will cover how to prepare for a disaster, how to respond to one & how to recover as quickly as [possible. There will 2 sessions, one from 3:00 to 4:30 PM for senior citizens & another for the general public from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Oneonta Police Department reported that they have received complaints from a number of citizens indicating that they have received scam phone calls from an unknown person claiming to be a representative of a police department in Florida. The scammer claims that they are performing a donation drive and asks for money. Oneonta Police reminds area residents to contact & donate to reputable charities that are well known to conduct releif efforts for those affected by natural disasters.

The United Way of Delaware & Otsego Counties will kick off their 2017 Campaign today. The Board of Directors of the United Way will be at the B-Side Ballroom in the Clinton Plaza in Oneonta from 4:00 to 6:30 PM; they will also be announcing the recipient of the 2017 Cheri Albrecht Excellence Award at 5:15 pm.

The United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties announced the Technical Training for their 2018 funding cycle would be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oneonta. Those who would like to reserve a seat should call the United Way at 432-8006, Applications will be available beginning June 1st.

The annual Big Wheels Golf Tournament, held at the Delhi College Golf Course today. The event serves as a primary fundraiser for programs and services which provide assistance to Delaware County senior citizens. More information is available from the Delaware County Office for the Aging at 832-5750.

The Tri-Town Youth Club is moving from the Civic Center to the Sidney United Methodist Church starting Monday afternoon. Spokesperson Roni Haag explains:

Haag said that the hours for the club would be from 2:00 to 5:30 weekdays, starting Monday.

Students from across Chenango County will participate in an all county music festival Saturday January 21st at the Sherburne – Earlville High School. SE High School Band Director Jeff Manwaring explains:

The performance will begin at 4:00PM Saturday in the Sherburne – Earlville Auditorium, Admission is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for Senior Citizens and Students.
