The city of Oneonta announced their first meetings for 2017. City hall will be closed on Monday January 2nd, it will open on Tuesday for the Common council meeting at 7:00 PM, on the agenda for that meeting, the council has designated many items as surplus & up for sale, and the complete list is available at publicsurplus.com. Delaware Academy was placed on lockdown for about an hour Friday afternoon, after the Delhi Village Police were made aware of a post made on social media threatening violence against the school. Delhi Police arrested 18 year old Ben Lane of Delhi and 21 year old David Piskacek of Fleischmanns, they were charged with making a terroristic threat, they were arraigned in Delhi Town Court, and Lane was sent to Delaware County jail on $500 cash bail and Piskacek was jailed on $1,500 cash bail.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 29-year-old Heather Terry and 28-year-old Daniel Jamieson, both of Walton, on Friday, for criminal possession of controlled substance. Both are accused of possessing Heroin following a probation search of their Walton residence, both were arraigned & were remanded to the Delaware County Jail, Terry on $2,000 bail and Jamieson of $10,000 bail. Both will re appear at Walton Village Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 56-year-old Blair Williams of Toronto, Ontario Canada for forcible touching and unlawfully dealing with a child, in the village of Hancock. Williams is accused of forcibly touching a child less than 17 years old and also for giving the child alcoholic beverages. Williams was arraigned in the Village of Hancock court and was remanded to the Broome County jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond, pending court action at a later date.
Governor Cuomo today announced that the New York State Board for Historic Preservation has recommended the addition of 22 properties, to the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Sidney Village Police arrested 62 year old Michael Connors of Sidney Center, for Driving While Intoxicated, and driving with a BAC of .08 or higher, in the village of Sidney on September 9th. Connors faces court action on the charges at a later date.

Delaware County & State fire investigators have determined that Thursday fire at Village Pizzeria at 106 Main Street in Delhi was ruled accidental, and started in one of the restaurants deep fryers in the kitchen, it spread into the upper floors, and then to Stephen Antiques next door. The fire was called in at about 6:35 Thursday morning with 10 area fire departments responding, along with other assistance from the State Police, Delhi police, state DOT, Delaware County sheriff’s office & NYSEG.
Lawrence Harvey of Coventry was arrested by Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for 2nd degree menacing. Deputies & State Police responded to a dispute in the Town of Coventry where one of the participants was reported to be using a knife and a baseball bat. Harvey was subdued, arrested and was arraigned in the Town of Bainbridge Court, he will return to Town of Coventry Court at a later date.
State Police arrested 45 year old Audra Brendel-Hart of Bainbridge for aggravated harassment, after troopers responded to a report of threatening telephone calls being received at a home in Conklin. Brendel-Hart allegedly made over 10 telephone calls threatening to harm the victim with a baseball bat last Friday Night into Saturday morning. She was arraigned and released, she faces action in the Town of Conklin shortly.

Fire fighters from several area departments responded this morning to a structure fire on Main Street in Delhi. The fire began at about 6:30 this morning in the kitchen of Village Pizzeria at 106 Main Street, it eventually spread to an adjacent antiques store. Main Street has been closed off & the Delaware County Courthouse has cancelled all activity today due to a loss of electrical power. Delaware County Emergency Services department reported that fire fighters from Manpower and Apparatus from Delhi, Andes, Bloomville, Bovina, Franklin, Margaretville, Meridale, Oneonta, Pindars Corners, Sidney, Walton, & Wells Bridge responded, 1 firefighter fell on stairs & suffered minor injuries.

The NTSB, State Troopers, Forest Rangers, County Fire Coordinators and several area fire departments responded tot eh report of a small aircraft crash near German Hollow Road in the Town of Smithville. 3 passengers and 1 pilot were aboard the single-engine plane when it landed into a wooded area near a Buddhist temple. All four individuals who were suffering from shock and minor injuries were pulled from the wreckage by Monks of the temple, shortly before the aircraft burst into flames, destroying the plane. All 4 were taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing.

John Guzy of Bainbridge was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison, for the murder of 26-year-old Derek D. Prindle and attempted murder of Derek S. Prindle, the victim's father on October 27th, 2014, in front of the former Peak Fitness on State Route 7 in Bainbridge. Guzy was also ordered to pay restitution for funeral expenses for Prindle, among other related expenses, Guzy's attorney has filed a notice of appeal.

Law Enforcement Agencies in Otsego County have responded to a reported Bank Robbery at the NBT Bank Branch at 1 West Street in Edmeston at about 11:30 this morning. The Edmeston Central School District & Pathfinder Village were locked down and State Police & Otsego County Sheriff's deputies have been investigating. The Sidney Police Department arrested 43-year-old Jack Blanchard of Guilford for 2 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. The arrest is the result of a 2-month investigation into the sale of Cocaine in the Village of Sidney. Blanchard was arrested on an Arrest Warrant Sealed Indictment issued by Delaware County Court. He was sent to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await arraignment on the charges.
Congressman Chris Gibson announced the passage in the House of an amendment he authored in support of former Navy and Marine Corps personnel and other Veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange during their service aboard vessels off the coast of Vietnam and now have serious illnesses that are directly connected to that exposure. The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act ensures those Veterans is granted presumptive coverage for Agent Orange exposure. The House bill introduced by Congressman Gibson has 320 cosponsors from both parties, while the Senate version introduced by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has 41 bipartisan cosponsors.

The Sidney Police Department arrested 34 Year old Jodi Babcock of Unadilla, on a Sealed Indictment Warrant charging her with 2 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. Babcock was arrested at the Chenango County Correctional Facility where she is being held on another drug charge. Babcock is accused of selling heroin in the Village of Sidney on two occasions; she was remanded back to the Chenango County Correction Facility on $30,000 cash bail and $60,000 bond. The Sidney Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and Village of Sidney Police Department executed a “no knock” search warrant Wednesday at 104 Spreutels Lane in the Town of Guilford, following an investigation into the sales of cocaine and heroin in Chenango County and the Village of Sidney. Police Detectives located 280 packages of heroin, plus cocaine, digital scales, packaging material, and cash; they arrested Samuel Rivera for 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Nuisance, & 2 counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. Rivera was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail. The investigation is still continuing and more arrests are expected.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman received more than one thousand complaints regarding improprieties in the course of the Primary day elections. Schneiderman said that his office has opened an investigation into the voting problems reported by the New York City Board of Elections. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 2 Village of Deposit residents Tuesday on felony drug possession charges following the execution of a search warrant that led to the seizure of 205 bags of heroin, Xanax tablets and $200 Cash, Investigators charged 45 year old John Coe and 44 year old Debbie Moore, with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, Coe is expected to face additional charges at a later time relating to the alleged sale of heroin on previous occasions. Coe and Moore were arraigned and were remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $100,000 cash bail pending further court action.

Christopher Winkler of Unadilla has conceded the tied race for the Unadilla Village Board seat, to Jeff Jones. Both Jones & Winkler received the same number of votes for the seat in the March village election, leaving local officials looking for answers from county or state election law on how to handle the tie. The race could have been decided with another election, a drawing, or the concession of one of the candidates to the other.
57 year old John Guzy of Bainbridge was found guilty of 15 of 17 counts including 2nd degree murder, attempted murder in Chenango County Court Wednesday, by Judge Frank Revoir. Guzy was found guilty of shooting and killing 26-year-old Derek Prindle of Afton, in October 2014 on route 7 in Bainbridge. Guzy also shot & wounded Prindle’s father during a confrontation following a road rage incident that ended in front of Peak Fitness.
The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting on Today, the meeting will be held in the District Conference Room at 6:30 PM.

Village elections were held Tuesday across New York State. In the village of Unadilla, Paul Baldwin wins 1 trustee seat, the second seat, results were tied between Jeff Jones & Christopher Winkler, The Otsego County Board of elections will try to determine how to pick a winner for that seat. The Chenango County Sheriff's Office & Sherburne Police investigated incidents of criminal mischief and larceny, on March 8the & 9th. The investigation began with the report of a motor vehicle crash in the Town of Smyrna, the occupants of the vehicle left the scene, and the vehicle was stolen from Sherburne. Information led to the arrest of a 15 year old male & 17 year old Michael Wilson, of Sherburne. The pair is accused of stealing the vehicle; spray painting vehicles, school buildings, and residences & stealing items from vehicles. Both were charged for multiple counts of Grand Larceny, Petty Larceny, and Criminal Mischief, the amount of damage and stolen property is approximately $15,000.00 The 15 year old male was released on a juvenile appearance ticket and Michael Wilson is being arraigned in the Village of Sherburne Court. The investigation is continuing and the Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to call 337-1931 or 334-2000 option 1.
The village of Bainbridge Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting today at 4:30 PM at the village office at 33 West Main Street. The Purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the 2016-2017 Village Budget; the meeting is open to the public.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies, their K9 unit & members of State Parole conducted a “knock and talk” investigation Wednesday at 518 Cummings Road in the Town of Greene. Officers received information of methamphetamine being produced at the residence, they discovered liquid methamphetamine, & several ingredients and laboratory equipment used to manufacture the drug. 47-year-old Glenn O’Connor was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possessing the Precursors to Methamphetamine & for violating Parole. O’Connor was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility. State Police and Village of Greene Police Department assisted with the investigation.
