A Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 4 Count Indictment against 36 year old William Weil of Bainbridge last week. Weil was indicted for Aggravated DWI, Felony DWI & Endangering the welfare of a child, for allegedly driving intoxicated with a child in his vehicle in Delhi on January 22nd, the DWI is a felony as Weil was convicted of DWI within the last 10 years. Weil faces action on the indictments shortly.

Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced an expansion of child care services at 11 SUNY community colleges in New York State. The services will include evenings and weekends, designed to align with the schedules of student-parents who are enrolled in high-demand programs. SUNY Broome is one of the Colleges participating in the program.

The federal trial of Peyton Gendron of Conklin will be held in Buffalo, Judge Lawrence Vilardo made the ruling last week. Gendron's attorneys were seeking to move the trial, out of Buffalo, citing concerns over the ability to get a fair trial. Gendron shot 10 Black people shopping at a Buffalo Tops Supermarket on May 14, 2022, he has already been convicted on state charges, he faces the death penalty on Federal charges, the next trial should start this summer.

The State DOT announced that I-88 westbound will be closed near Exit 8 in Bainbridge for pavement repairs, today from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Drivers should follow the posted detours, utilizing the off-ramp at Exit 8, then crossing State Route 206 to the ensuing on-ramp, back onto Interstate 88 westbound. The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton’s Board of Education announced that they have offered Heather Wilcox the position of Superintendent, at Monday night’s community forum presentations at the GMU Auditorium. Wilcox is a Gilbertsville native and GMU graduate who has spent the last 13 years with the school district, Pending the successful negotiation of a contract, the Board of Education will appoint Wilcox as GMU’s next superintendent during an upcoming Board meeting. Bainbridge Firefighters responded to a fire at 9 East Main Street Sunday morning. Occupants escaped without injuries, Fire fighters from Sidney, Afton, Masonville, Unadilla, Guilford, & Mt Upton also responded, Bainbridge Fire Fighters have returned for rekindles yesterday & again this morning, the fire is believed to have started in a garage and spread to the nearby residence.

Governor Hochul announced that over 40 New Vaccine & Booster Pop up sites will be up & running this week around the state. The State Health Department & the Governor's Office are partnering with local health departments and community partners to launch more sites over the coming weeks. The Chenango County Health Department announced a Drive-Through Rabies Clinic will be held tomorrow at General Clinton Park in Bainbridge. The clinic will run from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Pre-Registration is required at 337-1673, a $5 donation is requested.

Ability Impaired by Drugs & Failure to Keep Right. Troopers, who were leaving the Sidney
headquarters after training, observed Fletcher driving on State Route 7 in the
town of Unadilla failing to keep right, Fletcher was processed and was released
on appearance tickets to the town of Unadilla court on August 12th.

Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care is hosting a Caregiver Support Group at The AO Fox Hospital Tri-Town Campus in Sidney starting today. The group will meet 6 times to provide information and support for those who are taking care of seriously ill family members or friends. Caregivers will have an opportunity to identify concerns, discuss feelings, receive support from others, and locate community resources which may be helpful for their unique situations. The Capital Region Toys for Tots Foundation today announced its distribution plans for the 2018 holiday season, to deliver thousands of toys and winter coats to children in need throughout Upstate New York. The Toys for Tots Train schedule is December 1st, starting at 10:00 AM at the Binghamton Yard, it will then arrive in Bainbridge at 11:45 AM, then at 1:15 pm at the Gas Avenue Crossing, Oneonta, before heading for Cobleskill & Delanson. The train will continue on Sunday & finish its run in through the Capital region to Rouses Point.
As part of an initiative to be designated as a Clean Energy Community, the City of Oneonta has installed a ChargePoint Level 2 electric vehicle charging station in the Dietz Street parking lot. The Program is a NYSERDA initiative to reward communities for becoming more energy efficient. The charging station is equipped with two ports, allowing two vehicles to charge simultaneously. Initially, the City will not apply a fee for drivers to use this EV charging station. However, drivers must be a member of the ChargePoint network. 2 parking spaces, adjacent to the charging station in the Dietz Street Parking Lot, will be reserved for electric vehicles only.
