State Police will have 3 Car Seat Safety Checks this week, Technicians will be in Whitney Point Tuesday from 4 pm. – 7 pm. at 2612 Liberty Street, on Wednesday, from 4 pm. 7 pm. & Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Broome County Fair, at the Whitney Point Fairgrounds. Chenango Sheriff Office arrested 47 year old Andrew Harris of Plymouth for Obstructing Fire Fighting Operations, Reckless Endangerment of Property, Unlawful Imprisonment. Harris was arrested after deputies determined he would not let fire department personnel extinguish a house fire in the Town of Plymouth. Harris was found standing in his driveway in close proximity to a fully involved house fire, he aggressive yelled at emergency personnel and failed to obey lawful orders, Deputies also determined that Harris committed crimes the night before against his girlfriend during a domestic incident, he was arraigned & released on his own recognizance.

Binghamton Police confirmed that 31-year-old Connor Hickey was found dead in the Dorchester Park lake in Whitney Point. On Friday, detectives responded to Dorchester Park for a reported deceased man in the lake, they confirmed the man was Hickey, who was reported missing since March 15th.

Governor Cuomo announced his resignation yesterday, Kathy Hochul will take over as Governor on August 24th.

STATE POLICE reported that 57 year old James Jones of Louisiana was recovered from the Whitney Point Reservoir around 9:00 AM Tuesday, he was kayaking with another person when his kayak tipped over. His kayak was located but he did not resurface. The incident remains under investigation. Troopers were assisted by Broome County Sheriff’s, Chenango County Sheriff’s, Broome County Emergency Services, Broome County Technical Rescue Team, Whitney Point Fire, Harpursville Fire, West Windsor Fire, Chenango Bridge Fire, Vestal Fire, Killawog Fire, Lisle Fire, Greene Fire, Marathon Fire, Triangle Fire, Broome Ambulance, Greene Ambulance, Marathon Ambulance and Broome Security Division.

The 146th Broome County Fair has been scheduled for July 27th through August 1st at the fairgrounds in Whitney Point.  The 4-H Building and Cattle Barns are open to the public and all related events and shows are free, more information is available at broomecountyfairny.com.

State Police responded to a 2-person fatal crash in the town of German at Chenango County Road 2 near County Road 5 at about 2:10 Thursday Afternoon.  Police reported that a passerby saw marks in the roadway with trees and brush down, found a crashed vehicle & called 911.  A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle went off the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed; both occupants were ejected, and were removed from the scene to Lourdes Hospital for an autopsy.  The driver has been identified as 26 year old Matthew Monroe of Willet, the passenger was 26 year old Judah Harris of Whitney Point, the investigation is continuing.

2 teens are still missing from the Children’s Home of Wyoming Conference, State Troopers were dispatched to the home in the town of Fenton on August 11th, are still missing.  Andrew Wellman Jr. is a 16-year-old white male with brown hair and brown eyes, he is 5’8” and weighs approximately 165 pounds, and he was last seen wearing a white windbreaker, black pants and a red/white/blue bandanna.  Wellman has ties to the Endicott area.  14 year old Giovanni Spagnola is a 14-year-old light skinned black male with brown hair and brown eyes, he is 5’6” and weighs approximately 145 pounds, he was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue or black pants and a pink/purple bandana.  Spagnola has ties to the Auburn and Syracuse area. The Chobani Foundation announced the recipients of Their 1st Community Impact Fund, which will provide $100,000 in grant funds to 4 beneficiaries locally. The Sidney Central School District was awarded $21,000, to incorporate a food truck into its nutritional education program. The Catskill Development Foundation was awarded $28,150 for a food and agricultural entrepreneur training program at Delaware County FoodWorks+, The Oxford Academy and Central School District was granted $30,000 to fund the salaries of 25 students working for local businesses in the 10-month Career Pathways Program, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County received $20,850 to provide marketing assistance for farmers and managers of farmers markets looking to expand their businesses. Governor Cuomo’s office announced on Tuesday of their goal to create a program for regulated marijuana use next year. The governor’s office hosted the listening sessions throughout September and October to gauge community appetite for legalizing marijuana, A study by the New York City Comptroller’s office estimated that revenues from taxes on regulated marijuana sales could bring in $3.1 billion dollars for the state. In Colorado, marijuana retailers made $1.5 billion last year and collected $247 million in taxes.

New York Farm Bureau has released its annual "Circle of Friends," naming 160 New York State Legislators to the distinguished list. The award is an indication of the individual lawmaker's support of New York agriculture and Farm Bureau. The "Circle of Friends" honor is based upon each legislator's voting record on issues of agricultural importance as well as other evidence of legislative support, including sponsorship of bills that New York Farm Bureau has either supported or opposed during the most recent legislative session, State Senators Fred Akshar, Jim Seward & John Bonacic plus Assembly members Cliff Crouch, Bill Magee, Donna Lupardo & Gary Finch were all named to the Farm Bureaus “Circle of Friends" again this year.

Governor Andrew Cuomo's office has announced the start of a child care availability task force. The group is comprised of representatives from the child care provider community, the business community, unions that represent child care providers, representatives from several state agencies and local departments of social services will develop recommendations to make quality, affordable child care accessible across the state. The task force met for the first time on Wednesday.

Voters in the Unadilla Valley School district have until 8:00 tonight to vote on the district's proposed 10 million dollar capital improvement project. Voting is being held at the District Office Lobby.

The Food and Drug Administration announced today that Del Monte Foods has recalled more than 64,000 cases of "Fiesta Corn" seasoned with red and green peppers. So far there had been no reports of illness, Del Monte determined the cans had not been properly sterilized, leading to the risk of spoilage. State Police have located James Sitts, who was wanted on an arrest warrant out of the town of Oneonta Court for 2 counts of Grand Larceny. Sitts was located and arrested by City of Oneonta Police Officers on December 8, He was later transferred to the custody of State Police and was arraigned in the town of Oneonta Court where he was remanded to the Otsego Jail with no bail. His next court date is January 3rd.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies named Kevin Boles as the team's manager for the 2019 season. Boles joins the New York Mets organization after spending the last eleven seasons managing in the Boston Red Sox system.

The Broome County District Attorney’s office announced that 27 year old Thomas Sessions of Whitney Point was arraigned Wednesday in Broome County Court, in connection with a March 23rd attack that seriously injured a Lisle resident. Sessions was located earlier this month in Arizona and taken into custody. The grand jury indictment charges Sessions with attempted 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault, & attempted 1st & 2nd degree assault; he is accused of striking the victim in the head after knocking on the victim’s door & claiming to have a disabled vehicle.

US Postal Inspectors, State Police CNET, Homeland Security Investigators (HSI), Vestal Police Department and the Broome County Drug Task Force made a controlled delivery of a package containing approximately 250 grams of Ecstasy to a residence in Binghamton. Following the delivery, a search was conducted at the home of 32 year old Andrew Davis, A search of the residence leads to the recovery of the package, digital scales, cellphone, & other items, Davis was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail.

All 5 announced Major Party candidates for the 19th congressional district seat would participate in a forum on Tuesday at the Oneonta High School. The Otsego County Farm Bureau sponsors the forum; it will run from 7:30 to 9:00 PM. The republican candidates are John Faso, Andrew Heaney, and Bob Bishop; the democratic candidates are Zephyr Teachout, and Will Yandik. The event is free and open to the public.

Whitney Point schools will reopen Today; they were forced to close doors Monday after several school buses were vandalized at the Districts bus garage over the weekend. State police said that no arrests have been made & the investigation is continuing.

District officials announced that school is closed as there are not enough vehicles to collect the students this morning, the busses will be checked & out repaired today, surrounding district have offered to loan Whitney Point busses for Tuesday’s commute, officials hope to have classes open again Tuesday, & the state police are investigating.

State Police arrested 24-year-old Andrew Kaiser of Norwich for aggravated DWI, with a B.A.C. result of .19%. This arrest resulted from a traffic stop when Kaiser was seen driving with an inadequate muffler while on State Route 320, in the Town of Norwich. An investigation determined that he was driving while intoxicated. Kaiser was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Norwich court on May 19th.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that State Police, local and municipal law enforcement agencies will increase patrols to crack down on drunk driving and underage drinking this Halloween weekend. The special traffic enforcement detail will begin today and continue through Sunday. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, from 2009 to 2013, 43% of all people killed in motor vehicle crashes across the U.S. on Halloween night were in crashes involving a drunk driver. Motorists can expect to see a number of sobriety checkpoints and additional patrols. Troopers will also conduct a special enforcement detail to crack down on the sale of alcohol to minors.

Broome County Sheriff's deputies arrested 18 year old Brandon Pittsley of Whitney Point, for 2nd degree attempted assault, resisting arrest, and harassment. Pittsley is accused of punching a Deputy in the face, during an investigation into a reported domestic dispute. He was taken to the Broome County Jail without bail.

Democratic Gubernatorial Primary Candidate, Zephyr Teachout will appear this Wednesday at 5:15 PM in front of the Court House at 92 Court Street in downtown Binghamton.  Teachout is seeking to unseat Andrew Cuomo in the democratic primary on September 9th, she teaches law at Fordham University and apposes Hydraulic fracturing.

State Police arrested 50-year-old Jeff Winegard of Whitney Point for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers responded to a Broome County 911 report of a one-car accident on Hickory Street in Triangle. Winegard was issued tickets for Town of Triangle court September 3rd.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo will consider calling the state Legislature back to Albany if the federal government does not quickly dispatch relief funds to the severely flooded parts of upstate. Persistent rain in recent weeks caused rivers and streams throughout the state to overflow, flooding counties throughout the Albany area, central New York, the Southern Tier and the North Country. During a briefing on the damage in Herkimer County on Sunday, Cuomo said he would push for President Obama to declare the flooded sites “disaster areas,” which would allow for the distribution of emergency federal funds. If the federal government does not respond, he will convene a special session.

New York Senator Charles Schumer announced Monday that New York State will be a participant in the USDA Greek Yogurt Pilot Program. The USDA released a solicitation to purchase Greek yogurt for delivery to participating schools in the upcoming School Year. Schools in New York, Tennessee, Idaho, and Arizona will be participating in the program. Bids are due on July 22 and the FSA expects to evaluate the bids and make awards by the end of July.

State Senator Jim Seward Announced a 250 Thousand dollar state grant for medical equipment and to help complete renovations at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. The grant will assist in the purchase of wall mounted computers and scanners to be used in single occupance patient rooms.

The Village of Bainbridge Planning Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday night to consider a site plan review for 2-4 Whitney Way in Bainbridge, the location where a fire recently destroyed the Upturn Industries building. The Meeting will be held at 7pm inside the Bainbridge Village Clerk's Office. The meeting is open to the public.

The New York State Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting to discuss the replacement of the State Route 30 and 206 bridge over the East Branch Delaware River in the town of Colchester. The meeting will take place at the Downsville Fire Station this Wednesday at 7pm. The DOT said the bridge was constructed in 1953 and is nearing the end of it's service life.

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 31 year old Andrew Whitney of Norwich for driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with .08, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, numerous equipment violations, and on arrest and bench warrants.  Whitney is accused of operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated state; deputies also found that there was an active bench warrant from Town of Norwich Court for failure to appear for sentencing, and on an arrest warrant from City of Norwich for petty larceny and conspiracy.  Whitney was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on  $11,000 total cash bail pending action in both courts.
