Delaware County Deputies responded last July to an investigation in Town of Middletown involving a child, where it was determined that 36-year-old Ariel Devers of Middletown, had endangered the welfare of a child, in September an arrest warrant was issued for Devers by the Town of Middletown Court. On December 30th,Deputies were notified by the Delhi Police Department that Devers was in Delhi, they located, arrested and charged Devers on the warrant, Devers was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility for arraignment.
State Police arrested 26 year old Jason Alicea of New York for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, after a Trooper observed a speeding vehicle & initiated a traffic stop in Delhi. The Trooper learned that the vehicle was reported stolen to the New York City Police, Alicea was arrested, 2 dogs in the vehicle were turned over to a third party. Alicea was held at the Delaware County Jail for Arraignment.
U.S. Congressman Josh Riley announced the "Tractor Safety Act" which proposes to renew the National ROPS Rebate Program, which covers the cost of putting rollover protective structures on older tractors. The bill proposes to cap ROPS installations at $500, well below the usual cost, Riley's bill has bipartisan support, he hopes to see it pass into law shortly.
The Sidney Memorial Public Library is receiving a state grant to maintain accessibility in its building, by replacing an elevator, Sidney Library Director Patrick McGowan explains:

State Police arrested 25 year old Cagan Sodan of Greene after he was involved in a domestic dispute. State Police responded to a residence on English Lane in Greene, a Trooper encountered Sodan, who was uncooperative & attempted to grab the Trooper’s service weapon from its holster. The Trooper was able to restrain Sodan and take him into custody. Sodan did have an injury to his hand that he sustained from punching a window, prior to his encounter with the Trooper. The Trooper was not injured. Sodan has been charged with Attempted Robbery, Attempted Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief & Obstructing Governmental Administration, he was transported to the Chenango County Jail for Centralized Arraignment where he was remanded until his next court date on January 8, 2026.
Otsego County Office of Emergency Services reported that the Garrattsville Fire Department and nearby departments responded to a structure fire at 436 Texas Road in New Lisbon. The house was fully involved, & was a total loss, several cats & a guinea pig were believed to have died in the blaze. One tanker responding to the blaze rolled onto its side in adverse weather conditions, no injuries at the fire or the accident were reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 41 year old Joseph Jimenez of Walton for Assault, Menacing, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, following an incident December 10th in Walton. Deputies were dispatched to an assault where Jimenez is accused of engaging in a physical domestic with a tenant of the household in which Jimenez allegedly produced a bladed weapon, stabbing the victim multiple times. Deputies arrested Jimenez was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility where he was held pending arraignment.
Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 30 year old Richard Garreau of Norwich On January 1st, on an Arrest Warrant and for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Members of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic dispute in the Town of Norwich, Garreau left the scene, officers got a warrant for Garreau’s arrest, he returned to the scene and was taken into custody without incident, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl and was arraigned & was released on his own recognizance.

NYSEG reported hundreds of power outages today, after a storm with high winds whipped through the area at about 8:50 AM today. at one point about 3700 customers were with out power in the WCDO listening area, the number was down to about 540 by mid afternoon. Crews are working to repair the damaged areas as quickly as possible.
The Jason Michael Carroll Concert at the Sidney High School Auditorium will go on as scheduled this evening at 7:00 PM. Admission is free with the donation of an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots & Operation Merry Christmas, cash donations of $10 will also be accepted for admittance into the show.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched Saturday to a motor vehicle accident in Walton. 36-year-old Robert Wickham of Walton, had left the scene of the accident, Upon completion of the investigation, Deputies arrested Wickham for DWI, Driving with a BAC of .08 of 1% or more, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Fail to Keep Right and Speed not Reasonable and Prudent, among other charges, Wickham was released on appearance tickets was directed to appear in the Town of Walton Court at a later date.

45 year old Jeremiah Johnson was convicted on burglary charges in Broome County Court for Burglary. Johnson entered a dwelling with the intent to commit a crime around August 9th, in the Town of Union. During the incident and investigation, Johnson fled from Broome County Sheriff’s Office Deputies to prevent them from arresting him. Johnson will be sentenced to 8 years in Prison to be followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision.
The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 29 year old Charles Dieterich, he is wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Harpersfield Court, for 2nd degree assault, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree and resisting arrest. Dieterich is described as a male standing 6 feet tall with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information about Dieterich’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at (607) 832-5555 or submit a tip through the sheriff’s mobile application.
City of Oneonta Officials announced that Beginning next week (Monday–Wednesday), the contractor will install new street lighting in the area of the new roundabout at Main Street, Maple Street & The Lettis Highway. The following week, crews will complete electrical wiring and activate the lights. During this work, Main Street east from Grand Street and Lettis Highway south will be closed. There will also be short-term closures on Main Street west through the roundabout and Maple Street entering the roundabout. Posted detours will be in place, and all traffic will be restored once work is complete. Additional minor traffic disruptions are expected throughout January as rapid flashing beacons are installed at crosswalks and remaining signage is completed.

51 year old Timothy Hoose of Berkshire, was found guilty of Grand Larceny following a jury trial in Broome County Court. The conviction stems from criminal conduct between September 2023, and January 2024, in the Town of Windsor, where Hoose, doing business as H&H Contracting, entered into a construction contract with the victim to build a garage structure on the victim’s property, the victim paid a $15,000 down payment, Hoose illegally used over $3,000 of those funds for purposes unrelated to the project. Sentencing is scheduled for March 18, 2026, in Broome County Court, Hoose faces up to 7 years in State Prison.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 38 year old Christopher Decker of Unadilla, following the report of a domestic dispute. Decker was charged with Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, Unlawful Imprisonment, Endangering the Welfare of a Child & Harassment. Decker was being held at the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office pending Arraignment, he is scheduled to appear in Unadilla Town Court at a later date.

Governor Kathy Hochul has signed a law banning online sweepstakes casinos in New York, which are sites that let people play casino-like games with virtual coins that could be traded for cash or prizes. The new law not only outlaws these online casino-like games, it also prohibits companies that support them, like payment processors and advertisers. Penalties can reach up to $100,000 per violation. New York now joins New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Montana, and Nevada, in the ban of those online activities.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Strategic Response Group utilized drone technology and its K9 unit to track down 2 fleeing suspects on foot following a high-speed vehicle pursuit in Binghamton, Kirkwood and Windsor. On December 11, deputies observed a pickup with a loud exhaust and an obstructed license plate in Binghamton, and attempted a routine traffic stop, the Pickup failed to comply, and led deputies on the pursuit, reaching speeds of 100miles per hour before the driver drove through a field before getting stuck, the 2 suspects fled on foot through the woods. K9 Raven and a drone tracked the suspects through the woods, they arrested 63 year old Tod Archibald of Starlight, Pennsylvania and 42 year old Ryan Dirig of Long Eddy, Officer seized cocaine, crack cocaine and fentanyl from Dirig, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, Attempted Grand Larceny, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment, and a host of other charges, Archibald was charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration.

A Federal Court Jury returned a guilty verdict against ANTHONY WALLACE of the Bronx, for kidnapping a minor, coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sex, transportation of a minor across state lines to engage in illegal sex, and possession and production of child pornography. In March 2024, Wallace met a 15-year-old girl in Binghamton, he subjected the Minor Victim to escalating physical, sexual, and psychological abuse, forced her to disguise her appearance by dyeing her hair and wearing a mask, gave the Minor Victim methamphetamine and marijuana, & created child pornography of the Minor Victim, in Binghamton, which was found on his phone. Wallace later brought the victim across State Lines and then back to his Bronx apartment where he assaulted & raped her, she escaped the apartment & contacted police. Wallace faces multiple lengthy jail terms for the convictions.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced the award of more than $32 million to help local governments enhance safety on their roads by reducing instances of vehicles inadvertently straying from their lanes and lessening the severity of crashes. The funding is part of the State DOT's “Safe System” approach toward zero highway deaths and will support roadway improvements; Locally, in Otsego County, the Towns of Hartwick and Middlefield, will receive $700,000 to install guide rail on County Road 11. In New York State, 44 percent of crash fatalities occur when a vehicle departs from its lane.

A Windsor man is facing felony charges after attempting to break into a residence and being tracked down in the snow by Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies in the Town of Chenango. On Tuesday evening, Road Patrol responded to a burglar alarm on Russell Road, members noticed that the back door of the residence had been forced open, they eventually found footprints in the snow, they found 42 year old Scott Evanchof of Windsor wearing boots that matched the footprints, he admitted that he attempted to break into the residence & was charged with Burglary & Criminal Mischief, he was arraigned Following arraignment, Evanchof was remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility, where he is currently in custody.
Due to last Thursday night's cold temperatures, The Norwich BID announced that the 2025 Holiday Tree Lighting will be Tonight at 6:30 pm in West Park in downtown Norwich.

The New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, 3rd Judicial Department, has ordered a hearing on Gordon Mower Jr.'s motion to vacate his murder conviction, claiming that he received ineffective counsel when he was found guilty of killing his parents in 1996. The court found sufficient grounds to warrant a hearing on Mower's claims, the decision reverses a previous denial by the Otsego County Court. Mower was convicted of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life without parole.
The Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 42 year old Michael Fletcher & 36 year old Michelle Bremner, both of Westford, for numerous counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, plus Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia & False Personation following an investigation originating from a request for a welfare check on 3 children at a residence in the Town of Westford. Deputies located the defendants inside the residence, they provided false information in an attempt to hide their true identities as they were wanted on multiple active warrants, multiple items of drug paraphernalia were in plain view, and the Otsego County Child Protective Services were contacted for the children. Fletcher & Bremner were processed, arraigned & were remanded to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await further court proceedings. The investigation is on-going and additional charges are pending.
40 year old Jorge Cortina of Binghamton was sentenced to 8 years in State Prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision for his conviction of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & 3 to 6 years in State Prison for his conviction of Criminal Possession of a Weapon and 364 days in the Broome County Jail for Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, with the sentences to run concurrently. Cortina was stopped in September 2024 in a motor vehicle in Binghamton by members of the Broome County Sheriffs Strategic Response Group, he was found to possess methamphetamine, a pistol, and a digital scale to weigh narcotics, he was found guilty of the charges in July in Broome County Court.

Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an address in Walton to execute a bench warrant issued for 47 year old Luke Lupo, for his failure to appear in Court, 3 individuals were present, Lupo, 43-year-old John Whiteside Jr, and 45-year-old Melissa Knorr. Whiteside had active charges with Colchester Police for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Deputies observed drug paraphernalia, they applied for & received a search warrant, they uncovered Methamphetamine. Lupo, Whiteside, and Knorr were arrested, and were charged with 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Lupo was transported to the Delaware County Jail and held pending his arraignment, Whiteside was turned over to Colchester Police, he was held pending arraignment, Knorr was released on an appearance ticket.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Bryce Bauder of Norwich, following an investigation into a domestic dispute that occurred on October 19, in Norwich. Bauder was involved in a domestic dispute with a victim who had an active full stay-away order of protection against him. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Norwich Police Department located Bauder at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident and was charged with 2 Counts of Criminal Contempt, Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Aggravated Family Offense, Menacing, Reckless Endangerment & Burglary, he was arraigned and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $30,000 cash bail.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 2 Sherburne residents on multiple drug-related charges Friday in Sherburne. Deputies observed Jessica Baum, who was known to have an active warrant inside a vehicle, with Jason Wheeler, a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, packaging materials, and digital scales. Baum and Wheeler were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia & Conspiracy, they were arraigned, Baum was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Sherburne Village Court at a later date. Wheeler was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail and is also scheduled to appear in Sherburne Village Court at a later date.
State Police, State Senator Oberacker and Assemblyman Angelino will honor the memory of Trooper Jill Mattice, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, at 10:30 AM at State Police Oneonta barracks on Oneida Street, Oneonta. State Police will announce the dedication of a portion of State Route 23 as the “Trooper Jill Mattice Highway.” Following a brief ceremony, they will proceed to the memorial site in the Town of Morris for the unveiling of the new highway sign. Trooper Mattice lost her life on January 20, 2010, when her patrol vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 23 in the Town of Morris.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced the arrest of 51 year old David Gensler of Delhi, for Use of a Child less than 17 Years of Age in a Sexual Performance, Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors, Luring a Child into a Vehicle/Building to Commit a Crime, and Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors as a Sexually Motivated Felony. A felony preliminary hearing was held in the Town of Delhi Court on Monday, Gensler was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail, pending action of the Grand Jury. The investigation is ongoing, anyone with additional information should contact the State Police at 607-432-3211.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36 year old Cody Borawa of Afton for Criminal Contempt and Stalking, for allegedly attempting to contact and interact with the victim through fake social media accounts despite an active full stay away Order of Protection stemming from a similar arrest in February. Borawa was released on an appearance ticket for the above charges and is to appear in the Town of Afton Court at a later date.
State Police arrested 34 year old Christopher Moynihan of Clinton for threatening to kill House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Moynihan was pardoned for his role in the January 6th 2020 insurrection in Washington, Moynihan was arrested Saturday and charged with making a terroristic threat, he was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
A Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held today for the Delaware Valley Medical Neighborhood in Walton at 2:00 PM. The project calls for an $80 million, 4-story facility featuring medical services like primary care, specialty care, physical therapy, and lab services to a single location. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The Town of Colchester Police Department arrested 3 individuals following an investigation into a series of burglaries and larcenies. 21 year old Donavin Brock of Colchester was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Conspiracy, Criminal Mischief, & Aggravated Harassment, 18 year old Tenlei Wood of Walton, was charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, & Conspiracy and 40 year old Brooke Walley of Andes, was charged with Burglary, following the investigation by the Town of Colchester Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff's Office into multiple incidents involving stolen property, unlawful entry, and related crimes throughout the community. The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be pending, the State Police Forensic Identification Unit assisted in the processing of the crime scenes.
The Sidney Police Department has added K9 Chase, to the department, he is handled by Officer Royce Terry & he is a 1 year old Dutch Shepherd. Stephen Filan pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon, stemming from the illegal possession of an assault rifle and related firearm components. On May 19th, Binghamton Police responded to a report of Filan in possession of a firearm, he was uncooperative, officers secured a search warrant and an Extreme Risk Protection Order to search Filan’s residence, which resulted in the recovery of a loaded, operable assault rifle with a 25-round magazine holding 24 rounds. Sentencing is scheduled for January 15, 2026 in Broome County Court, Filan will be sentenced to 6 years in State Prison followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision.
State tax receipts totaled $59.9 billion through September, the middle of State Fiscal Year, $702.2 million higher than financial plan estimates from the Division of Budget, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 48 year old Brad McAdams of Downsville for DWI, on October 3rd. Deputies were patrolling in the Town of Colchester when they observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane, they also discovered that McAdams had a suspended driver’s license. Deputies conducted a traffic stop, McAdams was taken into custody, a vehicle search uncovered a large quantity of cocaine. McAdams was additionally charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and several violations, plus Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await Arraignment.
The State Division of Criminal Justice announced a Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert, for 86 year old Janice Short of Vestal. The State DEC announced the next round of the Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Grant program and the Municipal ZEV Rebate program are now open for applications. A total of $5 million will be available for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and $585,000 for municipalities to purchase electric vehicles for fleet use. A total of $5 million is available on a first-come, first-served basis to support the installation of Level 2 and Level 3 electric vehicle chargers, the DEC is accepting applications through February 27, 2026, more information is available at dec.ny.gov.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 2-car accident on County Highway 26, 20 year old Tonia Massaquoi of Oneonta was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to stop at the stop sign, she was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unsafe Speed, Failure to Yield the Right of Way, Fail to Stop at a Stop Sign and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device, she was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear at the Town of Hamden Court at a later date to answer the charges.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an assault in progress in the Town of Walton, Prior to arrival Deputies learned that the suspect 41-year-old Jeremy Stafford was wanted on a warrant from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found that Stafford engaged in a physical altercation in front of 2 children, he was charged with 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, he was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Walton Court at a later date, he was turned over to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office on their arrest warrant.
37 year old Donald Beetlestone of Binghamton pleaded guilty in Broome County Court to a sexually motivated felony of to Attempted Kidnapping, stemming from a violent attempted abduction of an 8-year-old child on August 1st, at the Price Chopper in Binghamton. Beetlestone assaulted the child and began dragging her through the store, in order to further assault her, the attack was interrupted by a store manager and shoppers. Beetlestone was subdued and restrained until Binghamton Police officers arrived and took him into custody. Beetlestone will receive a sentence of 10 years in state prison, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision, he will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release. Beetlestone is scheduled to be sentenced on January 14th in Broome County Court.

State Police arrested 28 year old Austin Darrow of New Milford, Pennsylvania, for Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle. On October 4th, a Trooper observed a sedan following a vehicle too close on I-81 and then fail to stop at a stop sign at 2 locations, when the Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the operator took off at a high rate of speed, into the state of Pennsylvania. With the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police, Troopers were able to locate Darrow, he turned himself in at the Binghamton Barracks and he was issued traffic tickets and an appearance ticket to the Kirkwood Town Court on November 5th.

A Groundbreaking Ceremony will be held on October 22nd for the Delaware Valley Medical Neighborhood in Walton at 2:00 PM. The project calls for an $80 million, 4-story facility featuring medical services like primary care, specialty care, physical therapy, and lab services to a single location. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

Norwich Police arrested 43 year old Donald Craw of Delhi, following a vehicle pursuit Saturday that began in downtown and ended in a field off Chenango County Road l0A. At approximately 11:30 pm. officers attempted to stop a Craw's motorcycle after observing multiple traffic violations, he failed to comply and led officers on a pursuit, where he ran stop signs, nearly struck another motorist, and reached speeds double the posted limit. Craw traveled across a field & abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to flee on foot, he was caught after a brief struggle, & was taken into custody, Police recovered a large quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl, along with drug packaging materials and a digital scale, he was wanted on multiple warrants, Craw was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Reckless Endangerment, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & Resisting Arrest, he was arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on no bail. Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 36 year old Gerald Walke of Walton for Promoting Prison Contraband. On August 23rd, Delaware County Corrections Division, reported that Walke received a prohibited item during visitation and intervened, The item was recovered and the visitor was removed from the facility. Walke was processed and issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the Town of Delhi Court at a later date to answer the charge.
On Friday, Delaware County Corrections Officers were conducting a search of 37 year-old Matthew McLean, of Delhi on unrelated Bail Jumping Charges, they located a crystal type substance folded into a one-dollar bill, which was revealed to be Methamphetamine. 19 year old Jayden Aviles of Maryland, New York, appeared in Delaware County Court & pleaded guilty to 1 count of Criminally Negligent Homicide, On September 29, 2024, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a 1 car MVA into a house on State Route 23 in the Town of Davenport, they determined that Aviles was the driver of the vehicle and appeared to be impaired by drugs, his vehicle had hit 2 individuals in the house, with one suffering injuries and the other passing as a result of the crash. Sentencing will be held on November 18th.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office concluded the death investigation in the Town of Conklin that has been ruled a murder-suicide stemming from an ongoing family dispute. On Friday, August 22nd, 65 year old Michael Shuta of Conklin was found deceased in Montrose, Pennsylvania, Shuta’s death was ruled a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Police in Pennsylvania and New York believe that Shuta shot his nephew, 41 year old Matthew Slavetskas of Conklin, who was found dead by Officers at his Brady Hill Road residence. Detectives reported that both pistols used in the murder and the suicide were registered to Shuta.
21 year old Joseph Vanblarcom of Middletown was sentenced in Delaware County Court last week to 1 year in prison for Grand Larceny. Vanblarcom admitted that he and 2 other individuals entered City of New York property and stole a DEP owned woodchipper. VanBlarcom was placed on interim probation after his conviction, but he violated his probation when he was arrested for DWI in Ulster County, which increased his sentence to jail time.

On Wednesday morning, detectives from the Norwich Police Department successfully concluded a drug investigation, resulting in the seizure of 64 grams of fentanyl—an amount capable of causing tens of thousands of fatal overdoses, as well as cocaine, Methamphetamine and a Stun Gun. 38 year old Leo Moore of Norwich, was charged with 12 felonies and 4 misdemeanors following the execution of an arrest warrant, the most serious charge is Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Detectives allege that the arrest closed an extensive investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine throughout the community. Moore was arraigned in Norwich City Court and is currently held without bail pending further court proceedings.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office Strategic Response Group observed a motorcycle Wednesday Night operating in Binghamton with improper plates, a traffic stop was attempted & the operator failed to comply and led deputies on a pursuit throughout the City. Eventually, the operator, 28 year old Brian Harrison of Binghamton lost control and attempted to flee on foot, he was apprehended & was found to possess a loaded handgun, as well as a quantity of Methamphetamine. Harrison was charged with Criminal Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and other similar charges, plus Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, he faces court action shortly.
24 year old Jarett Griffin of Walton appeared in Delaware County Court Tuesday, and was sentenced to 1 year of imprisonment for his conviction of Criminal Contempt. Griffin had previously pleaded guilty to Criminal Contempt on May 13, 2025, he had been issued a Stay Away Order of Protection from a protected party as a result of being arrested on stalking and harassment charges in May of 2024. In April Griffin made false accusations to that protected party’s employer in direct violation of the Court’s Order, he was indicted in Delaware County Court on April 24th.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced that temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on New York State highways will be suspended from 6:00 am. on Friday, August 29, to 6:00 am. on Tuesday, September 2, to ease travel throughout Labor Day weekend. Drivers should be aware some work may continue behind permanent concrete barriers or for emergency repairs. The Deposit and Hancock Central School Districts Boards of Education have voted to move forward with a merger feasibility study, to see if it would be advantageous to combine the 2 districts. The New York State Education Department will provide up to $100,000 to help pay for the study, which will Review district enrollment, staffing, facilities, finances, and programs, weigh the possible benefits and challenges of merging and Gather input from people from both districts. State Police and the Broome County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residential fire at a home on Broad Street in the town of Chenango, A 26-year-old female resident had been able to get herself and two children, ages five and two, out of the home, but was unable to get to a one-year-old due to the heavy thick smoke. Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies were able to get in through a window and get the one-year-old out of the home. The child was transported to Upstate Medical Center and passed away from the injuries sustained in the fire. Troopers are working with Broome County Fire Investigators to determine the cause of the fire.

Public Meeting #1 for the Otsego Lake Watershed Protection Plan will be held Today, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. at Glimmerglass State Park in the Lakeview Pavilion, at County Road 31, Cooperstown. The public meeting will provide an overview of the planning process and the desired outcome of the Watershed Protection Plan. A community survey will be launched during the public meeting and will be available for at least one month to gather additional input from the community. The Department of State provided funding to develop a Plan that identifies water quality threats and recommends local actions to safeguard the resource. Water quality in Otsego Lake is changing because of climate change, invasive species, and harmful inputs to the lake, the plan will identify causes of the degrading water quality and define specific actions to protect the lake and watershed.

Broome County Sheriff's Office released an Update regarding the death investigation in the area of Brady Hill Rd and Gregory Rd in the Town of Binghamton. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no immediate threat to the public or the surrounding neighborhood related to this case. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies were notified Saturday by the County Corrections Division, of a female visitor who secreted prohibited contraband and then passed it to an incarcerated individual during visitation. Corrections Officers supervising the visit, observed the female transfer the item to the incarcerated individual and immediately intervened. The prohibited item was recovered from the incarcerated individual, and the visitor, 21 year old Jubilee Klimas of Walton was located outside the facility by Deputies and was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband, she was processed and released on an appearance ticket for Town of Delhi Court on a later date.

State Police & the Broome County Humane Society responded to a residence in the town of Union, to remove animals living in poor conditions. State Police were at the residence on another matter when they discovered deplorable living conditions inside the home. 50 animals which included dogs, cats, guinea pigs and birds were removed from the home, they were surrendered to the Broome County Humane Society. 3 children under the age of 17 were living in the home, their mother, 50 year old Rayelene Lott was charged with 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, The investigation is on-going at this time.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 45 year old Brook Romano of the town of Maryland, for 2nd degree Escape following an incident at Bassett Medical Center. Romano was being treated for an injury obtained during an arrest on an unrelated incident, she is accused of attempting to escape the hospital but was brought back into custody without further incident, she will appear in Town of Otsego Court on the newest charge at a later date.

Sidney Police Department received a complaint Monday at about 8:45 pm of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on West Main Street. Officers learned that a juvenile was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk, attempted to cross the Sherman Ave intersection using the crosswalk. A vehicle on West Main Street made a turn onto Sherman Avenue at the same time the juvenile was crossing, the vehicle struck the juvenile and did not stop, traveling west on Sherman Ave and possibly turned right on Union Street. The Juvenile was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center where they were treated for their injuries and released. Sidney Police are asking the public's help in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in this incident, which is described as a white mid-sized sedan. Anyone in the area of the incident with security cameras is asked to check for possible video of the incident or suspect vehicle, Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the Sidney Police Department at 607 561-2301.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol responded Saturday to a report of a burglary on Boswell Hill Road in the Town of Union. The homeowner spotted 2 individuals with flashlights inside his house with his home security camera system and called 911. Deputies, with State Police, located the 2 suspects, they fled into a wooded area, but were apprehended. Arrested were 43 year old Matthew Ortloff of Chenango Forks, & 45 year old Jeremiah Johnson of Endicott. The pair were charged with Burglary, Conspiracy, Possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief, along with seve4ral other related charges, they were arraigned and remain in custody at the Broome County Correctional Facility.
Delaware County Department of Public Works has received reports from a Village of Walton resident that twice now an individual with a laminated “County Tag” has knocked on her door requesting access to her basement to check her water meters. The County does not have a water department, so we will never be asking to check water meters. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26 year old Cassandra Davi and 31 year old Taylor Micha, both of Edmeston, after Deputies observed a suspicious vehicle that was parked at a business in the Village of Sherburne for an extended amount of time. Davi and Micha were found to be in possession of fentanyl, packaging material, and scales, they were taken into custody and transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Both face charges, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminally using Drug Paraphernalia, Obstructing Governmental Administration & Loitering, both were arraigned and remanded to the Chenango County Jail on cash bail.

State Police responded to a fatal incident Thursday night at 1086 Castle Creek Road in the Town of Chenango. Troopers responded for a report of a stabbing, the initial investigation revealed that 50-year-old Harry Swan of Chenango, was involved in a physical altercation with 48-year-old Jeffrey Ryan of Binghamton. Ryan drove to the Swan's residence, where a confrontation ensued outside the home, with Ryan allegedly stabbing Swan, who went back inside the residence retrieved a knife and stabbed Ryan. Swan was pronounced deceased at the scene, Ryan was transported to Wilson Hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is continuing.
47 year old Richard Foster of Walton was indicted in Delaware County Court from 2 related assaults that in Walton. The indictment alleges that on August 1st, Foster assaulted 2 individuals in a parking lot, he was charged with 1st degree Assault, on Count 2 also for 1st degree Assault, Foster allegedly intended to disfigure another person, the last count charges Foster fro 3rd Degree Assault against a 2nd female individual who was attempting to intervene and stop Foster from continuing the attack. Foster is currently incarcerated at the Delaware County Jail on $15,000 cash or $25,0000 bond bail awaiting the arraignment on the indictment.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced a targeted enforcement initiative focusing on illegal ATV, UTV and motorcycle use, after they received reports of All-Terrain Vehicles and motorcycles being operated illegally on public roadways, but on railroad tracks, railroad rights-of- way and on private property without permission. The state’s Financial Plan shows a growing budget deficit with 3-year budget gap of $34.3 billion, as predicted similar to the Financial Crisis of 2009, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Local government sales tax collections totaled $11.9 billion in the first half of 2025, an increase of 3.7% compared to last year, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. 86% of counties experienced a year-over-year increase in first-half collections, with Hamilton County seeing the highest growth at 14.6%, followed by the counties of Delaware (12.9%), Orleans (12.1%) and Chenango (11.7%). Nearly 75% of cities outside of New York City that impose their own sales tax experienced growth in the first half, with Norwich having the largest increase at 19.3%.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced the subsequent arrest of 44 year old Brent Trimbell of Hobart following a child sex abuse investigation and initial arrest from June 17th, when he was charged with 1st degree Rape, 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse & 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, at that time Trimbell was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $300,000 cash bail or $600,000 secured bond. Investigators discovered that Trimbell sent at least 6 videos or images to a child of a pornographic nature, on Wednesday Trimbell was arrested on 6 more counts of Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor, at the Delaware County Correctional Facility following Trimbell’s release on bond from the initial charges. Trimbell was later arraigned by Town of Walton Justice Michael Rippa, where the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office argued for bail at $100,000 cash or $200,000 secured property bond on the additional charges, Justice Rippa set bail at $1.00 and Trimbell was released from custody. 26 year old Jacob Goodman of Warwick, pleaded guilty in Delaware County Court to Criminal Contempt and was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge. If Goodman violates any conditions during that one-year period, he may be re-sentenced to 1 year in jail. Goodman was arrested in March following a physical domestic in progress in the Village of Walton, it was determined he was in violation of a order of protection.

State Police arrested 62 year old Kenneth Friedlander of Oneonta for Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, Menacing and Resisting Arrest, after Troopers were dispatched to Oneida Village Mobile Home Park in the town of Oneonta. Friedlander is accused of attempting to set a trailer on fire with a paper bag that he set on fire, and threatening to kill people, he barricaded himself in a bedroom, when the Troopers made contact with him, he charged at the Troopers with a pair of scissors, he continued to resist arrest, even after a taser was deployed but was ultimately placed in handcuffs. Friedlander was processed and was transported to the Otsego County Jail for Central Arraignment.
On Tuesday the Broome County Sheriff’s Strategic Response Group executed a search warrant on Hickory Street in the Town of Triangle, they seized Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, narcotic Pills, over $40,000 in cash, plus Scales and Packaging Materials. 22 year old Kalysa Drury of Binghamton and 62 year old Randy Glezen of the Town of Triangle were each charged with multiple counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, both were arraigned remain in custody at the Broome County Correctional Facility. The total street value of narcotics is estimated at about $7,000.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced the start of phase 2 of the STAR program benefit season. Eligible homeowners in communities with school tax due dates in August or September will start receiving their STAR benefit in the coming weeks, most homeowners will receive a check between $350 and $600. The autopsy of Melina Frattolin was performed Monday, the preliminary results are that the 9 year old died from Asphyxia due to drowning & Homicide. State Police are asking for the public's help in gathering additional video evidence or eyewitness accounts of the Toyota Prius driven by 45 year old Luciano Frattolin as they traveled from July 11, until July 19, on the I-87 Northway between Exits 28 through exit 20 during the evening hours of July 19, the evidence can be sent by email to crimetip@troopers.ny.gov. NYSEG announced that a combination of hotter-than-average temperatures and rising electricity supply prices could result in a higher bill this summer. Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 39 year old Thomas Kopech of Norwich Friday on an active Arrest Warrant from Town of Plymouth Court from an incident on May 31st, where Kopech allegedly broke into a residence in the Town of Plymouth and assaulted the victims inside the home. Kopech then fled the scene before Deputies responded which resulted in the warrant of arrest. Kopech was arrested without incident and arraigned & was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail. Kopec is to appear in court on a later date. Kopech was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Aggravated Sexual Abuse, Criminal Obstruction of Breath/Blood Circulation & Unlawful Imprisonment.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 27 year old Derek Mead of Walton for with 1 count each of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Assault and Unlawful Imprisonment, following the investigation into a domestic dispute last Tuesday in the Village of Walton. Mead is accused of being involved in a physical domestic dispute with another person while a child was present. Mead was processed and was turned over to Delaware County Correctional Facility to await Arraignment.

Warren County 911 received a call from 45 year old Luciano Frattolin of Canada, reporting his 9-year-old daughter Melina Frattolin was missing, with a possible abduction, in Lake George. As the case progressed, law enforcement identified inconsistencies in the father’s account of events and the timeline he provided. The girl was found dead in Ticonderoga, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office has turned the investigation over to State Police. Luciano Frattolin, has been arrested and is currently being held at the Essex County Jail, Luciano Frattolin, the father of Melina Frattolin, was charged with second-degree murder and concealing of a corpse, The investigation is ongoing,
State Police are investigating the accidental death of a East Branch Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Jason McGlone Thursday night, who was responding to a report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole on State Highway 30 in the town of Hancock. A preliminary investigation determined that a low-hanging electrical wire was in contact with the top of the fire truck, when Assistant Chief McGlone exited the vehicle and made contact with the metal door and the ground, he was electrocuted and was pronounced deceased. The original crash involved a pickup truck operated by 54 year old Joseph Bellows of Downsville that veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail and utility pole. He was transported to Delaware Valley Hospital, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated & was issued appearance tickets for Hancock Town Court on September 8th, 2025. The investigation into the firefighter’s death remains ongoing.
Milford Fire Department and several other area Fire Departments responded Friday morning to a structure fire at the Milford Corner Store, 69 South Main Street. The fire spread to surrounding buildings, including a the retail building next door & 2 nearby residences; 2 Milford firefighters were able to rescue an occupant who was trapped on the 2nd floor of one of the involved residential buildings, the patient was treated & released at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown for smoke inhalation, 2 firefighters sustained minor injuries, and were evaluated at the scene & released.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 40 year old Damon Sobers of Oneonta for 2nd degree Assault, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Menacing and Harassment, following an investigation into a domestic dispute in the Town of Oneonta. Deputies were told that the victim had struck in the head with the butt of the gun and suffered a large laceration to the face and that Sobers may be in possession of a firearm. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute in the Town of Walton in May, 36-year-old Gerald Walke had engaged in a verbal domestic dispute and displayed a knife, while in the presence of two juveniles, the Town of Walton Court issued an Arrest Warrant, last week, Otsego County Sheriff’s Office located Walke, he was turned over to Delaware County Deputies & was charged with 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and 2 counts of Menacing, Walke was processed and turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await Arraignment.
State Police arrested 34 year old Kyle Packer of Oneonta on an arrest warrant for Burglary, Criminal Contempt, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration. On June 12, Packer was involved in a domestic dispute in Edmeston where he violated an order of protection, unlawfully entered a home and struck a victim & left prior to the Trooper’s arrival. Troopers located Packer on June 24 in the town of New Berlin, where he fled on tractor into a wooded area. A Trooper observed Packer Tuesday in the town of Columbia, he was taken into custody and was processed then transported to the Otsego County Jail for Arraignment.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies conducting a traffic stop Sunday, the driver was unable to provide a valid driver’s license, K9 Dexter & Deputies located methamphetamine and illegal fireworks. Deputies identified the operator as 42 year old Ryan Fletcher of Delhi, Deputies determined that Fletcher's privileges to operate a motor vehicle were suspended. Fletcher was charged with Unlawful Possession of Fireworks, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Criminal Impersonation & Aggravated Unlicensed Operator and various traffic violations, Fletcher was released on appearance tickets for Town of Delhi court at a later date.
The State Department of Transportation announced the exit 8 off-ramp from Interstate 88 West to State Route 206 in Bainbridge will be closed today for pavement repairs, from 8 am. to 2 pm. Robb said that for those without the internet, there will be a 2 week period in September to phone in for a registration period.
The 2026 property tax levy growth will be capped at 2% for local governments that operate on a calendar-based fiscal year, according to State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. This figure affects tax cap calculations for all counties, towns, and fire districts, as well as 44 cities and 13 villages. DiNapoli’s office calculated the 2026 inflation factor at 2.64%, The tax cap, limits annual tax levy increases to the lesser of the rate of inflation or 2% with certain exceptions. The law also includes a provision that allows municipalities to override the cap.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced the unsealing of an indictment that charged 44 year old Chad Walters of Unadilla, with 1st degree Rape, for allegedly forcibly raping a physically incapacitated female at the victim’s home in Sidney in 2024. The case was presented to a Grand Jury, a warrant for Walters arrest was issued, Sidney Police attempted to locate him, he was found in Texas, he was taken into custody, and was returned to New York by Sidney Police Detective Sergeant Dionne and Officer Wheeler. Walters was returned to Delaware County Court and the indictment was unsealed, Walters was arraigned on the rape charge & he was remanded to the custody of the Delaware County Sheriff on $50,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond.

State Police today announced that Troopers issued a total of 10,497 tickets statewide during the 4th of July STOP-DWI enforcement campaign, which ran from Thursday, July 3rd to Sunday, July 6th. Troopers arrested 210 people for DWI and investigated 716 crashes, including five fatal motor vehicle crashes, Troopers issued thousands of tickets for other traffic violations, including over 3500 for speeding, over 1000 for seat belt use, and 301 for failure to obey the Move Over Law. IN troop c there were 327 ticketed for speeding, 12 for distracted driving, 67 for violating seat belt laws & 46 for violating the move over law.
State Police arrested 26 year old Calvin Verny-Rasmussen of Cortland for crimes involving children. Verny-Rasmussen’s arrest stems from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that child sexual abuse material was being shared online. The Troop C Computer Crimes Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation further revealed that in addition to promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation, Verny-Rasmussen inappropriately touched a child under the age of 11, he was charged with Sexual Abuse, Promoting Sexual Performance of a Child, Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Verny-Rasmussen was processed and turned over to the Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Neal Morrison of Vestal pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in Broome County Court in exchange for a sentence of 8 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision. Morrison also pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Firearm, for which he will receive a sentence of 1½ to 3 years in State Prison. The charges stem from 2 separate incidents, on April 21, Vestal officers encountered Morrison exhibiting signs of erratic behavior, he was taken into custody under Mental Health Law for evaluation. While securing his residence, officers observed a shotgun under a blanket along with a glass smoking device and a pellet gun. In May, Endicott Police Department responded to an abandoned residence, Morrison was found sleeping behind a couch, and there was an active warrant for his arrest. A search revealed a firearm in a holster, Morrison will be sentenced on October 9th in Broome County Court.

On July 5, 2025, members of the Chenango County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to State Highway 80 in the Town of Sherburne for an unresponsive male on the shoulder of the road. Deputies located a deceased male who was later identified as 59-year-old Jeffery Maxson of Sherburne, who was walking on State Highway 80 Friday evening when he was struck by a vehicle that did not stop. The Detectives Division identified the vehicle with nearby security cameras, it was located and seized for further investigation. The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Chenango County Sheriff's Office at 607-334-2000.
Binghamton Police, State Police & Broome County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a head on crash in Binghamton yesterday at about 4:30 PM, where 2 people died and 1 person was injured in a 3 car crash in the Court Street construction zone. The drivers of a sedan and an SUV were pronounced dead at the scene, the driver of the 3rd vehicle was taken to Wilson Hospital, Police reported that it appeared a driver tried to pass a vehicle in the construction zone where no passing is permitted, causing the fatal crash. The investigation is continuing, the names of the deceased were not released pending family notification.

State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Detail in Chenango and Otsego Counties. All of the businesses except one were in compliance, which was Ye Olde Shanty on South Canal Street in Oxford, where a 73-year-old employee was issued an appearance ticket for Prohibited Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21. 10 other businesses were in compliance in Norwich, Oxford, Greene, Smithville Flats and Morris.
Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 56 year old Allan Pettit of Walton following an incident in the Town of Walton. On July 2nd, Deputies responded to a complaint of a man pointing a firearm at others in the Town of Walton, it was determined that Pettit had pointed a BB gun at the victims and threatened them with bodily harm. Deputies arrested and charged Pettit for 2 counts of Menacing, he was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the Walton Town Court at a later date.

State Police were dispatched on July 4th to Ridge Runner Road in Hancock for a report of an accident with fireworks. A preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that 2 males were on a pontoon boat on Somerset Lake setting off fireworks when numerous fireworks apparently ignited at the same time causing an explosion. One male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the other male succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal hit and run car vs. pedestrian accident on July 4, at about 8:45 pm on State Highway 80 near the Rogers Conservation Center in the Town of Sherburne. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43 year old Delbert Dewey of Sherburne for Burglary and 3rd Degree Grand Larceny in the Town of Sherburne. Dewey was found to be in possession of a stolen motorcycle, Deputies recently took a report of a stolen motorcycle in Sherburne, Deputies stopped to speak with Dewey at his residence, the motorcycle was at his residence, Dewey was located and taken into custody without incident & was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Sherburne Court at a later date.
West Colesville Fire Chief James Sitek suffered a medical emergency while responding to the fire, Friday Morning in Conklin. Sitek was transported to Wilson Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, he served as the West Colesville Fire Chief for 3 years. The Case is currently under investigation by the Broome County Fire Investigation Office, the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
Over 2,000 people attended the 3rd annual Southern Tier Music Fest in Sidney at the Airport Saturday. About 400 walk up tickets were purchased due to the perfect weather conditions, there was 7 hours of music featuring headliner Uncle Kracker, plus a Queen & an AC/DC tribute band, Alyssa Crosby from “The Voice” and the 9-1-1 Band, the day ended with a Fireworks Display, Organizer Ed Curley told WCDO News that the even was deemed a complete success.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded recently to a report of a trespass in progress in the Village of Walton, with a physical altercation had occurred while in the presence of a child, and personal property belonging to multiple individuals had been damaged throughout the incident. Deputies arrested and charged both 34-year-old Charles Boecke and 27-year-old Siara Mettler for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Mischief, they were both processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Walton court at a later date.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced Lactalis USA will invest more than $75 million to upgrade both its Walton and Buffalo facilities, enabling them to expand capacity and gain efficiencies. The projects in Delaware and Erie counties include the purchase of new equipment and upgrades that will allow the dairy manufacturer to retain more than 800 full time jobs and create more than 50 new jobs. The Walton plant produces Breakstone’s Sour Cream and Cottage Cheese. It will undergo a $15 million modernization, focusing on automating and expanding the cottage cheese and sour cream production lines, enhancing efficiency, capacity, and sustainability.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 33 year old Tyler Clark of Unadilla for Criminal Contempt, Harassment, Criminal Mischief & Trespassing following an investigation into a complaint in the Town of Unadilla. Clark is accused of entering the victim’s property, in violation of a valid order of protection, and intentionally caused damage to the Victim’s vehicle, he was subsequently arrested and held at the Otsego County Jail to await arraignment.
Assemblyman Joseph Angelino & State Senator Peter Oberacker and local officials honored Bronze Star Medal for Valor recipient SP4 Herman Anders Jr. by unveiling the highway that will bear his name. Specialist Anders took part in Operation Junction City and was a decorated soldier, earning honors such as the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and National Defense. The FBI has announced the indictment of 63 year old Henry Garcia of Vero Beach Florida for "Sending a potentially hazardous material" charge, by mailing a letter last year to the New York Attorney General's Office in Albany, containing what was believed to be a biological weapon. The suspicious white powder was not a hazardous substance, the charge filed against Garcia carries a maximum term of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

In the Delaware County Republican Primary for the Treasurer's race, Carli Pinner defeated Ronda Williams with 56% of the vote, in the Town of Colchester, Robert Hafele will be the Republican candidate for Colchester Town Supervisor, David Rubera win the nomination in the Hancock town Supervisors race, James Ellis wins the nod in the Meredith Town Supervisors race, In the town of Sidney Board race, the nominees will be Frank Selleck & Andrew Hinkley, and for the Walton town board, the nominees will be Luis Rodriguez-Betancourt and Kevin Armstrong. In Chenango County, Ronald Sherman & Joel Lawrence won the Republican Party Nomination for Afton Town Board.
State Police responded to a 2-vehicle crash on State Route 11 in the town of Kirkwood. Investigators reported that Denise Ellis of Binghamton, was making a left turn when she failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle traveling north on State Route 11, the 2nd vehcile driven by 73 year old Nora Gibson of Pennsylvania, rolled as a result of the collision. Ellis was transported to Wilson Medical Center, her passenger was not injured, Gibson and a 74-year-old occupant were both transported to Wilson Medical Center. Ellis was ticketed, all injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 1 Car Motor Vehicle Accident on County Highway 21 in the Town of Walton, they identified the driver as 75-year-old Erol Tural of Walton, Deputies charged Tural with, DWI and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, Moving from a Lane Unsafely, Speed not Reasonable & other charges, Tural was released on appearance tickets and traffic summonses and was directed to appear in the Town of Walton Court at a later date.

State Police arrested 32 year old Jason Hubbell of Cooperstown, for 2nd degree Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest. Troopers were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute in Roseboom, Hubbell allegedly kicked in the front door of a residence, broke a secondary door then drove his vehicle into the victim’s vehicle before leaving the area. Troopers were able to locate Hubbell in Middlefield where he resisted arrest. Hubbell was ultimately taken into custody and later transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
State Police arrested 29 year old Daniel Nelson of Bloomville for 2nd degree Assault, after Troopers responded to a residence in Cooperstown for a report of a domestic dispute on June 22. Troopers later learned that the other person was checked out at a local hospital and was treated for broken bones stemming from injuries sustained during the argument, Nelson was arrested and later transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment.
Commerce Chenango announced that they will hold an Open House at their new location at 19 East Main Street in Norwich, Today from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, those in attendance will get to see the plans for the Early Learning Center that will be located on the 1st floor of that building.
A.O. Fox Hospital will be conducting a routine water flow test of its fire sprinkler system today at approximately 6 pm. The test will last 1 to 2 Hours. A US Appeals Court today affirmed the dismissal of a case that sought to overturn New York State's Reproductive Health Care Act, which protects a woman's right to reproductive freedom. The dismissal of the case will allow women to seek an abortion in New York State, regardless of laws being passed against those rights in other states, or on the federal level.

Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 55 year old Yannel Rivera of Bristol Connecticut for Reckless Endangerment, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a motor vehicle, in the Town of Bainbridge on May 26th. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle Rivera was operating in the Town of Bainbridge, he failed to comply and led Deputies on a pursuit, he was eventually apprehended in Walton. Rivera was processed at the Chenango County Sheriff's Office and released on appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Bainbridge Court on a later date.
33 year old James Fulginiti of Oneonta, was arrested by the Otsego County Sheriff's Office for Unlawful Interference with Railroad/Train, Unlawful Propulsion of a Missile at Railroad Trains, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Menacing & Criminal Trespass, following a shots fired complaint on the Norfolk Southern Railway in the Town of Oneonta. On May 28th, Deputies were dispatched to railway near State Highway 7 and Corporate Drive in Oneonta, for the report of a man shooting a firearm at a train. Deputies located Fulginiti, he was taken into custody, he is accused of firing a BB Gun at the train conductor's window, breaking the glass, the conductor was not injured, he subject was transported back to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office, he was processed & was turned over to Otsego County Corrections for Arraignment.
