Sidney village police arrested 18-year-old Gage Leach of Norwich and 18-year-old Austin DeMuth of Oxford Saturday, following the report of a fire in a dugout at Ed Ray Field.  Both were charged with 4th degree attempted arson and endangering the welfare of a child, both face court action today.

Oneonta police arrested 23 year old Gable Bugel of Oneonta on a charge of third-degree arson. Bugel is accused of setting fire to a car that was parked in a lot off Roundhouse Road on May 13. The vehicle was destroyed. Last year, Bugel was charged with attempted arson in connection with an incident behind Community Bank on Main Street. In a separate case, 28 year old Therese Sandborn of Oneonta was charged with second-degree attempted arson for allegedly attempting to set her apartment on Luther Street on fire. Sandborn was arraigned in city court and set to Otsego County jail.

Police in Broome County arrested 32-year-old Christopher Stoudt of Towanda, Pennsylvania for allegedly starting a fire at All-Star Auto on the Vestal Parkway and then stealing a vehicle.   Stoudt was charged with 3rd -degree arson, 3rd degree burglary, & petty larceny, he was arraigned and was sent to the Broome County jail.

The Otsego county sheriff’s department arrested 3 county men for allegedly having a house set on fire in order to collect insurance money.  Charged in connection with the may 1st arson fire on county highway 11 in Hartwick, were 63 year old Claud Folds, 20 year old James Folds of Hartwick and 48 year old Adelbert Cleavelend of Cooperstown, for Arson, Conspiracy and insurance fraud, they were arraigned and were sent to jail on bail and later released on recognizance, pending later court appearances.

State Police released more details about the February 19th town of Walton arson, with 2 murders and a suicide.  Lieutenant Eric Dauber of the state police BCI unit said that police were summoned to the John Lockwood road residence to serve a warrant to Debra Sundstrom for failure to appear in court for  several counts of grand larceny, police heard 2 shots, where Sundstrom shot a dog and then her self, after setting the house on fire.  Lieutenant Dauber said that they went to question Randy Sundstrom at the family address at 1884 South River Road in Walton, only to find out that he had not been seen in 3 years, his body was found last Friday in the backyard there:

Lieutenant Dauber said that Dominick Bosco’s remains were found at the John Lockwood road residence, he was likely killed 1 to 3 days before the February 19th fire.  The investigation is continuing anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 561-7400.

State Police, Delaware County sheriff’s deputies & Walton Police responded on February 19th to a murder-suicide & arson at 294 John Lockwood Road in the Town of Walton.  After the fire was extinguished, 2 sets of remains were removed; one was identified as 47 year old Debra Sundstrom of 1884 South River Road in Walton, from suicide by a gunshot to the head.  On Friday, a 3rd set of human remains was located at 1884 South River Road, who was identified as 49 year old Randy Sundstrom, the husband of Debra Sundstrom, his death was ruled as a homicide, Randy Sundstrom’s death may have occurred during February of 2010. . The second set of human remains from the February 19th fire was identified as the homeowner-51 year old Dominick Bosco, the cause of his death is undetermined.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Police at 561-7400.  The investigation is continuing.

Dr. James Terzian conducted a post mortem examination of both sets of human remains, from Tuesday's fire in Walton,  one of the deceased has been identified as 48 year old Debra Sundstrom of Walton, with the cause of death being suicide and cause of death being a gunshot to the head.  Identification of the second set of human remains, as well as manner and cause of death is pending. The fire at the house on John Lockwood road Tuesday in Walton has been ruled as arson. The Investigation is continuing.

Binghamton Fire Department officials believe that the fire that destroyed the former Pa's Woodshed building last week was arson.  Officials have determined that at least 3 separate fires were started at about the same time inside the building on Montgomery Street last week.   The building had been vacant at the time of the fire; investigators will try to determine who may have started the fire that completely destroyed the structure.
