The raccoon attacked a dog on Wednesday, 1 person came in contact with the raccoon while attempted the save the dog. The dog was up to date on its rabies vaccinations, and required a booster that evening. The next rabies clinic in Otsego County will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Neahwa Park in Oneonta.

Governor Cuomo today announced that $3 million is available to help New Yorkers suffering from serious health issues that are aggravated by extreme heat in order to purchase an air conditioner. Individuals can apply through HEAP at their local department of social services. To qualify, applicants must meet existing HEAP eligibility criteria and income guidelines, which vary by household size, and have at least one member of the household that suffers from a documented medical condition exacerbated by extreme heat. Applications will be accepted through August 31, or until funding runs out, the applications are available at otda.ny.gov.
