State Police arrested 27-year-old Denzil Kelly of Binghamton, for Identity Theft, Criminal Impersonation, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, & Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Interlock Device. Kelly had been driving a vehicle and was stopped for speeding on Place Road in the Town of Windsor in January. During this traffic stop, he is accused of impersonating another person to keep from being arrested. Kelly was driving with a suspended license and his vehicle did not have a court ordered ignition interlock device installed. Kelly was arraigned in the Town of Windsor Court and was remanded to the Broome County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Job Fair at SUNY Delhi on June 20th, Chamber President Ray Pucci told WCDO news that the Job Fair is also aimed at recent graduates looking to start careers:

The Job Fair will be held at SUNY Delhi's Farrell Hall, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

The corruption conviction of late State Senator Tom Libous of Binghamton has been vacated. Yesterday, the U.S. Second Circuit court ruled in the appeal of Libous & the corruption conviction was vacated and the fine was ordered returned. Libous was convicted in 2015 of lying to the FBI for allegedly using his political influence to get his son a job with a Westchester County law firm. In October 2015, Libous was sentenced to 6 months house arrest and a $50,000 fine, an appeal was filed in November 2015, and Libous died in May 2016 after a long battle with cancer.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded a fatal, 2 car head on collision on Bear Spring Mountain in the Town of Walton Saturday. Sheriff’s Deputies and the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit revealed that 43 year old Andrew Thompson of Tenafly, New Jersey, was driving on State Route 206 when a vehicle driven by 41 year old Joel Alves of Hopewell Junction crossed the center lines & collided head on with Thompson’s vehicle. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene, his wife 43-year-old Wendy Hoeben, and their 6-year-old son were transported to Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton, Hoeben was treated & released, and the child was transferred to Westchester Medical Center. Alves was also transported to Delaware Valley Hospital where he was also treated and released. Alves was driving with a suspended driver’s license and a suspended vehicle registration, the investigation is continuing & charges are anticipated.

The Sidney Rotary Club is funding a Recovery Coach Training Program at the Tri-Town Hospital today. The program implementation and content will be delivered by Mary Rosenthal, Executive Director of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council Delaware County and instructor, Jeannette Tolson. The Training begins today through this Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Governor Cuomo today announced that The 2017 Regional State of the State Addresses would take place in 6 different locations over the course of 3 days. Cuomo announced that on Monday, January 9 in state of the State speeches would be delivered in New York City and Buffalo, on Tuesday, January 10 in Westchester County and Long Island & on Wednesday, January 11 in Albany and Syracuse. Tickets are non-transferable and seating is limited at each of the locations, tickets can be requested at governor.ny.gov through this Friday at12:00 Noon, Guests will be notified of their selection by email by Sunday, January 8.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 30 year old Anthony Hebbard of Treadwell on charges of felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 1st degree, felony aggravated driving with a BAC of .18% or greater, felony DWI, operating a motor vehicle in violations of ignition interlock, leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle accident and moving from lane unsafely following  a report of a 1 car MVA on County Highway 14 in the Town of Franklin. Hebbard is accused of having a BAC of .21%, he will appear at Franklin Town Court at a later date.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 57-year-old David Hayes of Coventry, Connecticut for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Hayes is accused of driving a motor vehicle while having two active suspensions on his license. Hayes was additionally charged with driving with an out headlight and was released on traffic tickets returnable to Franklin Town Court at a later date.
