Disgraced & convicted former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver will not be heading to Federal Jail august 31st, after a judge ruled that he can remain free on bail while he appeals his conviction of corruption charges. Federal Judge Valerie Caproni, granted Silver’s request for bail, even though she presided over Silver's original trial, and stated that she believes that Silver is guilty of using his political power to increase his net worth, even as the definition for his crimes has changed in a recent US Supreme court ruling.

The sentencing of disgraced ex-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has been postponed until May 3rd in a Manhattan federal courtroom. Silver was found guilty by a federal jury in November on corruption charges, Last week, Silver’s defense lawyers asked Judge Valerie Caproni to move sentencing to May 3rd & to set a date to hear arguments related to revealing secret documents at Silver's sentencing.
