Money raised from the Down Home Fall Fest will go to the Sidney Center Improvement Group.

Another American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Saturday in Oneonta, as blood is needed following the recent hurricanes in the Southern States. The drive will be held Saturday from 10 am. - 3 pm., at the Southside Mall Oneonta YMCA, Appointments can be made at RedCrossBlood.org, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App.

Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 29 year old Eugene Buzie of Unadilla for multiple sex offense charges following an investigation. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announces the addition of charges in to the investigation involving Buzie, On July 19th he was arrested by investigators for multiple sex offense related charges. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the defendant did request, receive and possess a sexual performance by a child through online sources & was charged additionally with Possession of Sexual Performance by a child, Buzie was still incarcerated on the previous charges, he was produced from the Oneida County Correctional Facility to be processed on the new charge, at the Otsego County Correctional Facility and he was returned to the Oneida County Correctional Facility with an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Unadilla Court at a later date.

Unadilla Fall Fest 2024 will be held this Sunday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Under the big tent at Covered Bridge Farm Market, 331 Covered Bridge Road, Unadilla, there will be more than 50 vendors, plus live music, food trucks, corn maze, kids activities, pumpkins, admission is free.

The Covered Bridge Farm Market Fall Festival will be held on Sunday in Unadilla, Organizer Luke Johnson explains:

Johnson said that last year's event drew about 2000 people to the festival on Covered Bridge Road in Unadilla.

This Saturday will be the 1st Annual Historic Unadilla Auto Rally, 6th Annual Catskill Conquest Auto Rally & the 1916 Resurrected Unadilla Auto Club event in downtown Unadilla, organizer Brian Danforth explains:

The event will run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, food & entertainment is also scheduled.

The 35th Annual Apple Fest will be held on from 9:00 AM to 4:00PM on Saturday, on the Ball-flats in Greene. The annual event is sponsored by the United Methodist Church of Greene, the event will include apple related demonstrations & crafters, More information is available at fairsandfestivals.net.

The Spiedie Fest moves to the fall this year, with a full line up of musical acts at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton October 8th through the 10th, Organizer Dave Pessagno told WCDO News who they have lined up:

State Police arrested 22 year old Jessica Winans of Unadilla for the felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle as well as Driving While Intoxicated, following an accident on September 6th.  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that struck a tree on Plankenhorn Road in the town of Sidney.  Winans was the only person in the vehicle, she was transported to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City for the treatment of injuries to the face & ankle, and she was issued appearance tickets to the Sidney Town Court on September 23rd.

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Governor Kathy Hochul has proposed legislation that would allow National Guard members to qualify as veterans under New York State law. Governor Hochul has also issued a Citation honoring members of the New York National Guard for their service during and after the events 9/11.  Over 6,700 New York State National Guard members were called to serve in response to and recovery from the attack on September 11th 2001.

State Police responded to Betty Beavers Gas Mart on County
Road 48 in the town of Otego early this morning for a report of a vehicle that
crashed into a concrete wall.   Troopers
reported that an unidentified 27-year-old woman from Unadilla was operating a
2015 Kia at a high rate of speed on State Highway 991J, she traveled through
the intersection of County Road 48, through the parking lot of Betty Beavers
Gas Mart and into the wall.  Troopers
pulled the woman out of the vehicle and life saving measures were performed by
Otego EMS personnel but were unsuccessful.
The body was transported to Lourdes Hospital for an autopsy & the
investigation is continuing.

The Sidney Chamber of Commerce announced their 1st Fall
Festival to be tomorrow, Chamber President Teri Schunk comments:

Schunk said that the event will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
along Main & Division Streets in Downtown Sidney, followed by a Tom &
Doug Cruise in at 3:00 PM.

Fire Investigators are trying to determine what started a fire in a trailer at the Sidney Unadilla Trailer Park on State Route 7 Thursday afternoon. The fire was called in at about 1:00 PM Thursday, the 1st trailer was fully involved when fire fighters arrived, 3 occupants escaped without injury, a neighboring trailer suffered some minor damage. Fire fighters from Unadilla, Sidney, Otego & Wells Bridge responded, no injuries were reported.

The State DEC announced that they are considering enacting quarantine on movement into the state of landscaping debris and similar items, in order to avoid an infestation with the destructive Spotted Lanternfly. The insect is known to attach itself to yard waste, wooden crates, fruit, produce and even lawn tractors, tarps & grills. Deliveries from the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware & Virginia may be affected. More information is available at dec.ny.gov.

Hartwick College’s True Blue Weekend begins today through this Sunday on the College campus in Oneonta. True Blue Weekend will feature the 27th Annual Golf Classic at The SUNY Delhi; the Golden Jubilee Reunion; the Fall Fest at Pine Lake; On Saturday, Hartwick football plays SUNY-Brockport at 2:00 PM at Wright Stadium. The weekend wraps up on Sunday with the annual memorial gathering in the Shineman Chapel House, more information is available at 431-4064.
