The Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 38 year-old Zachary Lindow of Greene following an investigation into 2 separate incidents. Deputies responded Sunday to a reported domestic dispute in Greene, where Lindow allegedly subjected the victim to unwanted sexual contact and threats, he fled before deputies arrived, An arrest warrant was issued. On Monday deputies responded to a harassment complaint in Greene, also involving Lindow, he was located by the Broome County Sheriff's Office and he was turned over to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office and was charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Harassment, plus Sexual Abuse, 2 counts of Intimidating a Victim or Witness, he was was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He will appear in court at a later date.

Governor Hochul announced action to protect survivors of domestic violence, by selecting 5 counties including Delaware county to participate in a 2-year Coordinated Community Response Pilot Program. The effort will be led by the State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the initiative aims to help survivors access safety and support faster while ensuring accountability for offenders.

The Future for Oneonta Foundation announced a community challenge gift from Brian Wright, who has pledged to match donations—dollar for dollar—up to $125,000 to help complete the much-anticipated Wilber Park Splash Pad Project. The Chenango County Historical Society opens a new exhibit today from 4:30-6:00 PM. “Hometown Health” explores the healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry in Chenango County throughout the first half of the 20th century. An unvaccinated dog and 1 person were exposed to the rabid skunk, the dog had to be euthanized because it had not been vaccinated. The individual exposed to the skunk is receiving post exposure prophylaxis. State Police announced today that 22 year old Michael Andreev Jr. has been charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree murder & 1 count of criminal possession of a weapon, for allegedly stabbing his father, 67 year old Michael Andreev Sr. and 12-year-old sister, Sofia Trusova in Jordanville Sunday. State Police said that they found Andreev Jr. in the front yard of the family residence with a neck laceration Sunday, he was taken to a Syracuse Hospital for treatment, and he was discharged today & was taken into police custody, he was processed and was being held in the Herkimer County Jail without bail, the investigation is still ongoing.

Melissa Stagnaro has been named Executive Director of the Chenango Memorial Hospital Foundation; she succeeds Deb Cassavaugh, who retired this summer. Stagnaro joined the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital team in December of 2017 as Director of Fundraising & Business Development, she led the Chenango Medical Neighborhood Capital Campaign, which to date has raised in excess of $6 million, twice the campaign’s initial goal.

The State Health Department tested 96,359 New Yorkers for COVID 19 Monday, with 1393 new positives reported, the state total since March is over 466,900. Hospitalizations increased again to 705 statewide, there are 158 patients in ICU Beds & 72 are on Ventilators. There were 9 more deaths reported from the Virus Monday, the state death toll was up to 25,536.

There were 880 new cases diagnosed Thursday out of 89,722 tests, the number of positive tests since March is 442,791. The number of patients hospitalized for the virus was 474, with 120 in ICU beds & 54 on ventilators. There were 5 deaths Thursday, bringing the state Death Toll to 25,382.

State Police arrested 26 year old Steven Carpenter of Niagara Falls for Criminal Trespass, Resisting Arrest and Criminal Impersonation. Troopers were assisting the village of Sidney Police with an investigation at the Speedway on State Routes 7 and 8 in the town of Bainbridge, troopers spotted Carpenter on a bicycle, he ran inside the house of an unsuspecting homeowner then out a window, across the road and down an embankment and out of sight. Carpenter was ultimately located, he gave troopers a false name and date of birth, and he was wanted on a parole warrant from Steuben County. Carpenter was transported to the village of Sidney police department, He was then turned over to State Police where he was issued appearance tickets to the town of Bainbridge court, and he was then turned over to the Chenango County Jail and held without bail for the parole warrant.

Delaware County has received 5 new positive test results Monday for the Coronavirus, the County now has 53 confirmed positive cases, there are an additional 40 people under mandatory quarantine, 6 confirmed cases have been transferred out of the county to where the person resides. Of the 47 confirmed positive cases still in Delaware County 4 are isolated in a hospital, 28 are isolated and recovering safely at their homes, 3 people are deceased and 12 have fully recovered and are no longer in isolation.
Otsego County has released an update on the Coronavirus pandemic, they have 45 confirmed cases with 5 hospitalized, 19 have recovered and are off isolation & there have been 2 deaths. 49 people on mandatory quarantine, 3 people on precautionary quarantine 102 people have been released from quarantine.
Chenango County Public Health reported Tuesday 65 Positive cases of the Coronavirus, after getting 2 more positive tests. Chenango County reports 9 Hospitalizations, 22 Recoveries, there are 227 people under quarantine, and they have tested 361 people so far.

New York ranks among the top 5 states for children's health, according to the Kids Count Data Book released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. The report looks at recent trends that compare data from 2005 to 2012; New York showed improvement in all 8 categories of health and education for children. The number of children who didn't graduate from high school in 4 years fell from 33% in 1990 to 22% in 2012. The number of teen births dropped & the number of children in high-poverty areas remained stable at 17%. The number of children in single parent families rose by 24% from 1990 to 2012.
State Police at Norwich arrested 47-year-old Tom Connelly of New Berlin for 2nd degree Harassment following a dispute on South Main Street in New Berlin. An investigation determined he punched and shoved the victim during a dispute. Connelly was arraigned in Town of New Berlin Court and sent to the Chenango County Jail on $500.00 bail. An order of protection was issued by the court against Connelly.
The state labor department released unemployment statistics for the month of June. State wide, the rate dropped 1/10th the 6.6%, locally, Chenango county’s rate was at 5.6%, Delaware county at 6.3% & Otsego county’s rate was at 5.3% in June.
The State Association of Realtors released its June home sale information. Across the state, new listings were up 11% compared to June 2013. The number of sales was down 6%, median sale price down 3% and total number of homes for sale down 2%. Locally, in Broome County, new listings were up 19%, the number of sales was down 11%. In Delaware County, new listings were up 21%, the number of sales was down 13% & in Chenango County, new listings were up 305 and the number of sales closed was down 38%.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Environmental Conservation Police arrested 34-year-old David Button Jr. of Plymouth Saturday, after he was witnessed on a trail camera trespassing and possessing a rifle, on posted property on Bates Wilson Road. Button shot a deer with the rifle, removed the head, and left the body, he was located at his residence where the rifle and deer head were recovered, Button is a convicted felon and was not allowed to possess firearms. Button was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Trespassing, Hunting without a License, Hunting Deer with Rimfire Ammunition, and Unlawfully Killing Protected Wildlife.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old Micah Smith of the Town of Greene on charges of Criminal Possession of Marihuana. Smith was charged Saturday following a traffic stop in the Town of Greene for failing to stop at a stop sign. Smith was found to be in possession of Marihuana and scales, deputies then responded to Smith’s residence and located over an ounce of Marihuana. Smith was taken into custody and processed and released on appearance tickets for a later court date.

The Chenango county sheriffs department arrested 31 year old Andrew Whitney of Norwich for driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with .08, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, numerous equipment violations, and on arrest and bench warrants. Oneonta city police charged 22-year-old Marissa Hetzel with 2nd degree vehicular assault, leaving the scene of a person injury accident & DWI and several lesser charges, following the report of a bicyclist being hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning on the Lettis Highway.
