A Delaware County Grand Jury returned a 4 Count Indictment against 36 year old William Weil of Bainbridge last week. Weil was indicted for Aggravated DWI, Felony DWI & Endangering the welfare of a child, for allegedly driving intoxicated with a child in his vehicle in Delhi on January 22nd, the DWI is a felony as Weil was convicted of DWI within the last 10 years. Weil faces action on the indictments shortly.
Recruit New York will be held on the weekend of April 18th & 19th this year, Fire Departments & Emergency squads will hold open house events and try to recruit more people to join their local volunteer fire department of emergency squad. NYSEG reported this morning that about 600 customers were without power this morning, following windy conditions Sunday & overnight. The highest number of outages were in the Downsville & Andes areas, crews had restored power by late this morning.

Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced an expansion of child care services at 11 SUNY community colleges in New York State. The services will include evenings and weekends, designed to align with the schedules of student-parents who are enrolled in high-demand programs. SUNY Broome is one of the Colleges participating in the program.

The federal trial of Peyton Gendron of Conklin will be held in Buffalo, Judge Lawrence Vilardo made the ruling last week. Gendron's attorneys were seeking to move the trial, out of Buffalo, citing concerns over the ability to get a fair trial. Gendron shot 10 Black people shopping at a Buffalo Tops Supermarket on May 14, 2022, he has already been convicted on state charges, he faces the death penalty on Federal charges, the next trial should start this summer.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 35 year old Warren McKee of Milford for Dissemination of Indecent Material to Minors, following an investigation in to a report of a suspect engaging in sexual online communications with a subject he believed to be a juvenile. Investigation revealed that McKee utilized text messaging and instant messaging from a social media platform to solicit sex from the juvenile. McKee was located at his residence and taken in to custody without incident, he was processed and issued an Appearance Ticket returnable to the Town of Milford Court at a later date.
Thousands of unlawful vape and marijuana products were seized from a Conklin gas station as part of a compliance check by the Broome County Health Department. On March 9, members of the Sheriff’s Office and the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force assisted the Broome County Health Department with a flavored nicotine vape compliance check at the “One Dream” Sunoco gas station located at 976 Conklin Rd in the Town of Conklin, they seized approximately 4,000 unlawful flavored nicotine vapes along with THC products, The business does not possess a valid license to dispense THC products. The unlawful flavored vapes are not taxed. In 2019, New York raised the legal age to purchase tobacco and vape products to 21, and in 2020 the state banned the sale of flavored vaping products, other than tobacco flavor. The compliance check was generated via a tip from the Susquehanna Valley Central School District.
The State DEC & Area Fire Departments announced that the annual Burn Ban is in effect now to May 14th this year. Open Burning of brush or debris is prohibited during that time-frame, to prevent wildfires & grass fires during the traditional driest time of the year.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office arrested 2 people on a variety of felony charge. On December 15th, deputies responded to a burglary complaint in the Town of Binghamton, they found fresh footprints in the snow, signs of a break-in and smoke billowing from inside the house due to an active fire. State Police & Binghamton Fire Department responded, Deputies followed footprints and found evidence of stolen items, they used a drone to & located 37 year old Anthony Storti of Conklin, who was found to be in possession of narcotics, the investigation uncovered that Storti had been in the residence, left a vape behind and he set a fire inside. 24 year old Allyson Russell of Endicott, was identified as an accomplice in the burglary and arson. Both were charged with a host of felonies including Burglary, Arson criminal possession of a weapon, Grand Larceny & criminal possession of a controlled substance, they face court action shortly.
Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested 44 year old Luis Calixto of Norwich, following a complaint from a local business regarding a larceny in progress. Calixto allegedly removed items from their packaging and attempted to conceal them and attempted to avoid store personnel and law enforcement. Deputies discovered that Calixto was in possession of small wax envelopes containing a white powder-like substance, as well as a small canister containing a white crystal-like substance, he was processed and arraigned and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail on charges of Burglary, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Mischief and Tampering with Physical Evidence
Trout Creek Fire Department responded at about 11:20 Tuesday morning for a tractor trailer into a house. Nobody was home at the residence and that the driver of the truck was not injured. Masonville Volunteer Fire Department, State DOT, State Police, Delaware County Sheriff's Office, NYSEG and a code enforcement officer also responded, State Highway 206 was closed, All units were back in service around 3:30 PM.

Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced today the 3rd set of criminal indictments against 51 year old David Gensler of Delhi, Gensler was arraigned in Delaware County Court & the indictment was unsealed, the 3rd indictment is the result of a joint investigation by the Village of Delhi Police and the State Police. Previously, Gensler was indicted for Sexual Abuse, Attempted Sexual Abuse, Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors, Luring a Child, Rape, Stalking & Unlawful Imprisonment. The New Indictments charges him with Falsely Reporting of an Incident, Offering a False Instrument for Filing, Tampering with Physical Evidence, & Conspiracy in order to falsely report a crime against another party. Gensler was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility without bail, pending trial in this matter.
22 year old Matthew Bartosik of Conklin was sentenced today to 50 years in jail for the January 3rd killing of his uncle, Michael Lewis, following a family argument. Bartosik shot his uncle several times, resulting in his death, he also shot his cousin, who survived the incident. When police arrived and tried to enter the house, Bartosik shot at the troopers and deputies. Bartosik was eventually apprehended and took a plea deal and was convicted for 2nd degree murder, 4 counts of attempted murder, 3 counts of attempted murder of a police officer, plus criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon & 1st degree assault.

State Police arrested 43 year old Todd Seamon of Hartwick for 1st Degree Burglary, after Troopers were dispatched to a report of a burglary on State Route 28 in Schuyler Lake where a victim was assaulted. An investigation revealed that after an on-going dispute, Seamon forced entry into a 77-year-old's home and struck the victim multiple times causing injuries. The victim was transported to Bassett Hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers located Seamon and he was arrested and processed. Seamon was transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 3 people following a traffic stop for a driver known to not have a valid driver's license. 24 year old Deanna Eignor of Hobart was stopped, her & a passenger, 26-year-old Schoen Stocks of Jefferson were found to have fentanyl, scales and packaging materials in the vehicle. Eignor & Stocks were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, and Eignor was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation & other traffic violations, she had been released on her own recognizance on unrelated charges, & was additionally charged with Criminal Contempt. 28-year-old Wesley Eignor of Hobart was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle after he arrived on the scene & did not have a valid license. Deanna Eignor was held on $5,000 bail, Stocks & Wesley Eignor were released on appearance tickets.

The City of Norwich is one of this year’s Preserve New York grantees, they will receive $20,000 to fund the Broad Street-Main Street Historic District Nomination. The City's district includes 21 contiguous buildings located between Main Street at the northern boundary to Hayes Street at the southern boundary. The Designation will update information from previously prepared National Register Nominations and encourage owners to invest in preserving and improving their historic buildings.

19 year old Jayden Aviles of Maryland, New York, appeared in Delaware County Court & pleaded guilty to 1 count of Criminally Negligent Homicide, On September 29, 2024, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a 1 car MVA into a house on State Route 23 in the Town of Davenport, they determined that Aviles was the driver of the vehicle and appeared to be impaired by drugs, his vehicle had hit 2 individuals in the house, with one suffering injuries and the other passing as a result of the crash. Sentencing will be held on November 18th.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office concluded the death investigation in the Town of Conklin that has been ruled a murder-suicide stemming from an ongoing family dispute. On Friday, August 22nd, 65 year old Michael Shuta of Conklin was found deceased in Montrose, Pennsylvania, Shuta’s death was ruled a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Police in Pennsylvania and New York believe that Shuta shot his nephew, 41 year old Matthew Slavetskas of Conklin, who was found dead by Officers at his Brady Hill Road residence. Detectives reported that both pistols used in the murder and the suicide were registered to Shuta.
21 year old Joseph Vanblarcom of Middletown was sentenced in Delaware County Court last week to 1 year in prison for Grand Larceny. Vanblarcom admitted that he and 2 other individuals entered City of New York property and stole a DEP owned woodchipper. VanBlarcom was placed on interim probation after his conviction, but he violated his probation when he was arrested for DWI in Ulster County, which increased his sentence to jail time.

Governor Kathy Hochul today directed flags on all State government buildings to be flown at half-staff in honor of West Colesville Fire Chief James Sitek, who passed away on July 6 in the line of duty, while responding to a fire in Conklin. Flags will be at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, July 10.
An Audit by the State Comptroller's Office found that the state Department of Health is not adequately overseeing adult care facilities, they failed to conduct timely inspections and lacked documentation to show critical problems were corrected. 18% of allegations had no evidence they were investigated. a few did not have evidence of any plans for an investigation at all. The Binghamton Police Department have released the names of the 2 people who died in a 3 car wreck Monday afternoon at the Court Street construction site in the City's East End. The deceased operator of a Sedan was 49 year old Safwan Aziz of Binghamton, the deceased operator of the SUV was 71 year old Rafael Cuadra of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania , the unidentified driver of the 3rd vehicle suffered only minor injuries.
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that more than $36 million has been awarded to 48 projects across New York State through the County Infrastructure Grant Program. Locally, The City of Norwich was awarded $1 Million Dollars to build 20 new housing units on Plymouth Street to serve residents 62 years old and older, as well as individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness. Funding for this project will allow for infrastructure expansions required to service these homes, including a new sanitary sewer, water supply system, and storm-water system, as well as streets, curbs, and sidewalks.
The Town of New Berlin announced a ROAD CLOSURE today, on Homesville Hill Road. Motorists in the area are advised to use County 34 as an alternate route. The repairs will go on between 6:00 am. to 3:00 pm. today. Also, Unadilla officials announced that Kilkenny Street from Clifton Street to Village line will be closed from 6:15 am to approximately 2:00 pm today.

State Police were dispatched on July 4th to Ridge Runner Road in Hancock for a report of an accident with fireworks. A preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that 2 males were on a pontoon boat on Somerset Lake setting off fireworks when numerous fireworks apparently ignited at the same time causing an explosion. One male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the other male succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

Deputies on patrol and came upon a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 28. Tabler was found to be intoxicated & was processed and released on an Appearance Tickets for Exeter Town Court at a later date.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal hit and run car vs. pedestrian accident on July 4, at about 8:45 pm on State Highway 80 near the Rogers Conservation Center in the Town of Sherburne. The Sheriff’s Office announced this morning that the vehicle and driver have been located. The investigation is still ongoing. Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43 year old Delbert Dewey of Sherburne for Burglary and 3rd Degree Grand Larceny in the Town of Sherburne. Dewey was found to be in possession of a stolen motorcycle, Deputies recently took a report of a stolen motorcycle in Sherburne, Deputies stopped to speak with Dewey at his residence, the motorcycle was at his residence, Dewey was located and taken into custody without incident & was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in the Town of Sherburne Court at a later date.
West Colesville Fire Chief James Sitek suffered a medical emergency while responding to the fire, Friday Morning in Conklin. Sitek was transported to Wilson Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, he served as the West Colesville Fire Chief for 3 years. The Case is currently under investigation by the Broome County Fire Investigation Office, the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
Over 2,000 people attended the 3rd annual Southern Tier Music Fest in Sidney at the Airport Saturday. About 400 walk up tickets were purchased due to the perfect weather conditions, there was 7 hours of music featuring headliner Uncle Kracker, plus a Queen & an AC/DC tribute band, Alyssa Crosby from “The Voice” and the 9-1-1 Band, the day ended with a Fireworks Display, Organizer Ed Curley told WCDO News that the even was deemed a complete success.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies responded recently to a report of a trespass in progress in the Village of Walton, with a physical altercation had occurred while in the presence of a child, and personal property belonging to multiple individuals had been damaged throughout the incident. Deputies arrested and charged both 34-year-old Charles Boecke and 27-year-old Siara Mettler for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Mischief, they were both processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Walton court at a later date.

State Police announced that 61-year-old Michael Crandall from Oxford, succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash between his motorcycle & a school bus Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Chenango County routes 35 & 32 in the town of Oxford. Crandall was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, the school bus had 8 children on board, a 12-year-old child was evaluated at Chenango Memorial Hospital, no other children reported injuries. The unidentified school bus drive & an aid were evaluated at the scene and did not need further treatment, The crash remains under investigation.

19-year-old Darius Palmer of Binghamton was sentenced in Broome County Court Wednesday for the killing of 41 year old Tyrell Norris on September 30th of 2024 in Binghamton. Palmer was arrested in the Bronx in October on an arrest warrant for a separate crime, he was returned to Broome County & was found guilty for 1st degree Manslaughter and on a separate Assault charge , he was also ordered to serve 1 year in Broome County Jail, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision on the assault charge.
The Oneonta Common Council approved spending $230,000 on reconstruction of the Market and South Main streets intersection to fix damage from a water main break last month. The council held a special meeting Tuesday & voted unanimously to allocate the funding.

5 corrections officers appeared in Oneida County Court on Tuesday to discuss plea offers related to the beating death of Robert Brooks, an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in December. Earlier this month, a judge informed some of the officers who requested additional time to deliberate that he would need a decision from them this week, none of the officers had reached a conclusion. Attorneys representing the officers cited recently receiving discovery information from the prosecution that morning, which required additional review, they were ordered to return to Oneida County Court on May 13th.
23 year old Dekwaun Hicks of Binghamton was sentenced in Broome County Court to 6 years in State Prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision, for Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The charges stem from a June 26, 2024, incident, when members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force and the Binghamton Police Department conducted a vehicle stop based on information that Hicks was in possession of a firearm, they recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition and a quantity of methamphetamine pills. Hicks received additional jail time as he was arrested on a drug charge while out on bail.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Saturday to a burglary complaint at the Big Dipper BBQ 2 restaurant in Conklin, a Review of security footage showed 4 individuals breaking in causing several thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to the door and air conditioning unit of the businesses. Several tubs of ice cream and bottles of soda were taken by the suspects Officers arrested 20 year old Tracy Bryce of Conklin for Criminal Mischief & Burglary, 20 year old Jordan Wilson of for Criminal Mischief and Burglary, 2 juveniles were also charged. Bryce and Wilson were processed and arraigned, the juveniles were processed and arraigned before being released to their families.
Chenango County Department of Public Works announced the closure of the bridge on North Chenango Street over Birdsall Brook in Greene will be closed on May 12th, and will remain closed for 3 to 5 months. Grassi is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, Grand Larceny & Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Grassi & 1 other person are accused of entering a property & stealing items worth more than $1,000, he was processed, arraigned in Chenango County Court where he was released on his own recognizance and is to appear in Chenango County Court at a later date.

18 year old Daziar Gadson of Binghamton was sentenced to 9 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision, for attempted murder, for her role in a 2024 drive-by shooting. On August 3, 2024, Binghamton Police responded to reports of gunfire near Conklin Avenue and Felters Road. Investigators determined that Gadson shot a 19-year-old male while the victim was refueling his vehicle.

State Police were dispatched Sunday Morning to a fatal motor vehicle crash on East Afton Road in the town of Bainbridge. An investigation at the scene determined that the 17-year-old female occupant was operating an SUV when she went off the roadway into an embankment, crossed a creek, striking several trees and coming to rest on the opposite side of the creek. Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith announced the unsealing of a 5 count Indictment against 34 year old John Pierre Regazzi of Delhi. Regazzi was indicted for 1st degree Rape, Criminal Sexual Act, assault, menacing & unlawful imprisonment involving the same unidentified victim.
State Police in Saratoga and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting at the State Police location on state Route 9 in Malta at about 1:40 PM Wednesday. An unidentified individual started firing a rifle at the barracks, troopers responded & the suspect is deceased. Two troopers suffered minor injuries. The investigation is continuing.
State Police announced that an injured bald eagle that was hit on February 27th by a vehicle in Oxford, has been returned to the wild. State Troopers & the DEC responded to the scene, the eagle was taken to the Janet Swanson Wildlife Hospital at Cornell, the eagles was bruised but did not have broken bones. The eagle was sent to the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center and after the completed rehabilitation, the eagle was released back into wild after 6 weeks. Agri-Mark Incorporated of Vermont has recalled 189 cases of Cabot Creamery 8-ounce premium butter, Consumers should not eat or use the recalled butter, which has an expiration date of September 9th. Agri-Mark officials said that they have recovered 99.5% of the potentially contaminated lot before it was sold to consumers, it was found to contain Coliform bacteria, Cabot products are sold in several states, including in New York.

Broome County Sheriff’s Office & Binghamton Police conducted targeted enforcement last Friday as part of the State Gun Involved Violence Elimination initiative, they performed a total of 19 vehicle stops, among those arrested, 18 year old Isaac Decker of Chenango for speeding, DWI, Reckless Endangerment & several other charges after Decker caused a a 2-car motor vehicle accident at the Court Street roundabout. The Detail also arrested 42 year old Jesten Hyde of Conklin for a variety of drug charges, Hyde was found to possess 23 grams of methamphetamine. The initiative also resulted in drug charges against 38 year old Christopher Pierre of Endicott, for possessing cocaine, methamphetamine and a schedule 2 controlled substance.
28 year old Keisha Wright of Hancock appeared in Delaware County Court Tuesday & was sentenced to 1 year in jail for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. In October of 2023, a State Trooper located a stolen credit card in a store in Deposit they were able to identify Wright as the individual that dropped the card. The credit card was not used, & the owner had canceled it. Wright admitted in court that she possessed the stolen credit card & intended to use it. She was due to be sentenced to a 9 month prison term, but she failed to appear for sentencing, she was located, arrested & was returned Delaware County Court where Judge Hubbard imposed imposed an enhanced sentence
An Oneida County Grand Jury met Wednesday regarding the death of Midstate Correctional inmate Messiah Nantwi, who died March 1st. 15 staff members at both Midstate and Marcy Correctional are on leave or suspended in connection with the case. The Grand Jury will determine if there is evidence to indict them.

Otsego County Office of Emergency Services reported that an early morning fire at about 4:45 this morning at 451 County Highway 21 in the town of Plainfield resulted in a fatality. The fire destroyed the home, Unadilla Forks Fire Department received aid from the West Winfield Fire Department, The fire was reported by a passing motorist, indicating that the house was fully involved. The Cause of this fire is currently under investigation, and the Otsego County Office of Emergency Services is being assisted with the investigation by the New York State Police and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control
The Norwich Police Department concluded an investigation into a felony fugitive from justice warrant out of the State of Kentucky. Norwich Police Department detectives arrested 47 year old Trey Kirk of Norwich, on several warrants out of Boone County Kentucky for fleeing and evading police officers. Kirk was picked up at a local business in the City of Norwich and held for arraignment on the Fugitive from Justice Warrant.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cameron Curley of Smithville & Logan Tribe-Filhart of Binghamton, On January 6th, Curley and Tribe-Filhart allegedly took several thousands of dollars worth of property from a residence in the Town of Smithville on multiple occasions, Tribe-Filhart was seen with stolen property by deputies and citizens following the incident, Additional stolen property was found in Curley’s residence. Both were charged with 2 counts of Burglary, Grand larceny, Criminal mischief, Criminal possession of stolen property, among other charges, they were released with separate court dates in the Town of Smithville Court.
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50 year old Lance Jennings of Burlington for Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing & Harassment, after Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Burlington on January 4th, Jennings was arrested & was processed and released after being issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Burlington Court at a later date.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31 year old Elijah Conklin of New Berlin after he falsely reported a car theft. Deputies were told by Conklin that his vehicle was stolen out of his driveway when he was not home, he signed documents, vehicle information was shared with the Otsego County, where they reported that the vehicle had been involved in an accident and the driver fled the scene. Chenango Deputies determined that Conklin was the driver that fled the scene, Deputies returned Conklin was processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of New Berlin Court at a later date.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56 year old Jonathon Rees on a Sealed Indictment Arrest Warrant. Rees turned himself in to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office after receiving a Notice to Appear for Chenango County Court. Rees was processed for Offering a false instrument for filing, Perjury, unlawful surveillance, Aggravated Harrassment among other charges, he was arraigned in Chenango County Court where he was released on his own recognizance to appear in court at a later date.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a burglary in the Town of Triangle. 27 year old Samuel Michaels & 33 year old Jennifer Briggs claimed that their residence was burglarized, Detectives learned that Michaels and Briggs were suspects in a burglary case in Chenango County, where a shotgun was utilized to shoot into a vacant Chenango County residence. The pair admitted to having falsely reported the initial burglary to eliminate themselves as suspects in the Chenango County burglary investigation. Michaels and Briggs were charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, Providing a False Written Statement, Falsely Reporting, they were processed at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Triangle Court, they also face burglary charges in Chenango County.

On March 17th, 2024, State Police responded to a welfare check at the Dollar General in Margaretville, with a driver asleep in a car. West failed testing at the scene & was found to be impaired by drugs.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal shooting in Conklin that left 1 individual dead and 1 hospitalized this morning at approximately 10:45 AM. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Hancock man and woman on charges stemming from a Domestic Dispute in the Town of Hancock last month. 24-year-old Porter Crawson and 22-year-old Vanessa Tompkins, both of Hancock had engaged in a physical Domestic Dispute, with children present, Crawson and Tompkins were each with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, they were turned over to Delaware County Correctional Facility to await Arraignment.

Another bill extends the ban on single-use plastic containers in hotels to include establishments with fewer than 50 rooms, to reduce waste and pollution.

Nelson was transported to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office for processing & was released on an appearance ticket and is to appear in Court at a later date.
The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce announced that they are offering a Defensive Driving Course in Delhi next week. Drivers are able to reduce the cost of their auto insurance coverage by taking the Course offered at Chamber's Business Center in Delhi on Tuesday, January 7 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 53 year old Donald Lane of Oneonta for Sex Offender Failure to Update Change of Address, Failure to Provide Updated Photograph and Failure to Complete Annual Verification. Lane was located in the City of Oneonta by the Oneonta Police Department and taken in to custody on an active warrant issued by the Town of Middlefield Court, he was turned over to deputies who processed him and lodged him in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await Centralized Arraignment.
Otsego County Sheriff's Office arrested 33 year old Nicole Conklin of Otego for 3rd degree Assault following an investigation into a reported physical domestic dispute in the Village of Schenevus. Conklin caused physical injury to another party, she was later located and taken into custody and was then turned over to the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await arraignment, an order of protection was issued to protect the victim.
State Police were dispatched to I-81 in Cortlandville for a 2-vehicle crash with injuries. Police reported that a Toyota rear-ended a Honda, then traveled into the center median. Troopers broke the window of the Toyota to remove 54 year old Kenneth Thompson of McDonough, who was breathing but unconscious, he was taken to a Syracuse Hospital, the driver of the Honda, 43 year old Darrell Batchelor of Colorado & his passenger, 60 year old Eddy Larson of Wyoming were both checked out by EMS on scene but were not transported to a hospital. State Police were dispatched Thursday night to a report of gunshots at Lantern Hill Mobile Home Park in Oneonta. An investigation revealed that a 40-year-old male of Oneonta, NY sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after a dispute involving several individuals, he was taken to A.O. Fox Hospital by a private vehicle and was later transported to Bassett Hospital for further care. The vehicle carrying the victim was hit by gunfire during the incident. 34 year old Ishmael Seabrook of Oneonta was charged with 2 counts of Attempted Murder, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon & Reckless Endangerment, State Police were assisted by the Oneonta City Police Department, Seabrook was arraigned at the Otsego County Jail and was remanded without bail.

Bainbridge Guilford Superintendent Tim Ryan released a statement about an incident Friday evening as B-G was hosting a football game with Walton. During the game administration was notified that a student was overheard saying he had a gun at the game, law enforcement was notified, the student was located and was taken away from the game & Staff remained with the student until law enforcement arrived and took over the situation. Ryan stated that there was no fight at the game and there was no gun, there was no need to suspend or cancel the game or send everyone home. Law enforcement continued to meet with the student and his family, they left the premises and law enforcement officers remained at the game until the conclusion.
Broome County Sheriff Road Patrol deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident involving 2 vehicles Early Sunday morning on Morgan Road in the Town of Binghamton. Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar identified the deceased as 29 year old Charles Burrell of Conklin, who was ejected from 1 of the vehicles, he said that the operators of the 2 vehicles were engaged in a continuing dispute over women & narcotics, they engaged in a road rage incident that ended with the fatality. 20 year old Cody Diffendorf of Kirkwood & 26 year old James MacDowall of Binghamton were each charged with 2nd degree manslaughter, both are in the custody of the Broome County Correctional facility pending future court action.

Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 3 Walton residents on multiple Drug charges stemming from a narcotics investigation. On September 4, the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, executed a no knock search warrant at a residence on State Highway 10 in the Town of Walton, they arrested 43 year old Benjamin Pankiewicz, 22 year old Gage Pankiewicz & 37 year old Ashley Calabrese, all of Walton on a number of drug charges, A quantity of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, drug packaging & processing equipment were seized, as well as a firearm and approximately $1,000 in cash. All 3 were arraigned, Benjamin and Gage Pankiewicz were were released to reappear at a later date, Ashley Calabrese was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $7,500 bail.

State Police were dispatched Friday afternoon to a crash involving a dump truck into a residence on Old Plank Road in the town of Sanford. A 29-year-old male who was operating the dump truck was pronounced deceased at the scene, 3 people were inside the residence at the time of the crash, with a 10 year-old male airlifted to Albany Medical Center for injuries. A 22-year-old male was not injured. A 40-year-old female was treated by EMS at the scene. The investigation is on-going.
Governor Kathy Hochul requested a Major Disaster Declaration from President Biden to support the ongoing recovery efforts of communities impacted by the severe weather caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby that occurred on August 8 – 10. If granted by the federal government, this declaration would provide federal funding for a number of Counties including Broome & Delaware Counties locally, to cover debris removal, emergency protective measures and repairs to public buildings and infrastructure.
3 people were arrested following a traffic stop by the Broome County Sheriff’s Strategic Response Group on Matthews Street in Binghamton last Wednesday night. Patrols determined that the vehicle had no insurance, was unregistered, uninspected and all 3 occupants had suspended driving privileges, deputies observed a pistol partially concealed on the floor of the vehicle, a search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, & a digital scale. Officers arrested 26 year old Stanley Conklin of Binghamton, 39 year old Jorge Cortina of Binghamton & 31 year old Christen Sterling of Johnson City were arrested on a number of drug & weapons charges, with Conklin also facing 10 traffic violations. All 3 were transported for arraignment and are currently in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.
3 people were taken to Wilson hospital after a BC Transit bus crashed into a light pole on the west side of the Oakdale Commons complex in Johnson City. The incident happened shortly after 8:30 AM, near the former Burlington Coat Factory store. Delaware County Sheriff's Office arrested 67 year old Michael Murphy of Rochester for assault after an investigation on April 29th at a residential facility in the Town of Delhi for a complaint of a staff member being assaulted by a patient. Deputies identified the patient as Murphy, who had allegedly struck the staff member. On May 1st, Deputies received a criminal summons for 3rd degree Assault from the Town of Delhi Court, Deputies learned that Murphy was at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown from an unrelated incident, Murphy was subsequently arrested and issued the summons and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Delhi Court at later date.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect regarding numerous car larcenies that took place at the in the Town of Conklin Saturday Night & early Sunday Morning. The suspect was captured on a home surveillance video and appears to be wearing a stocking over their head. It is believed the suspect is operating a dark colored SUV. Norwich Police Department received a call Saturday about an individual stealing from parked vehicles in the Norwich High School Parking lot, Officers located the suspect, 28 year old Matthew Maricle of Cincinnatus, in a stolen vehicle and a 30-mile vehicle pursuit ensued from Norwich to Mount Upton, where he ran the stolen vehicle into a ditch. Maricle was charged with Reckless Endangerment, Unlawful Fleeing of a police officer, Resisting Arrest & Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies performed a traffic stop on Chenango Street in the City of Binghamton, 47 year old James Bell of Conklin was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine along with a scale, Bell was charged with 2 Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance & Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, While in custody, Bell was found to have concealed on his person an additional amount of Methamphetamine, leading to an additional charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence. Bell was processed, arraigned and currently remains in custody. The Sheriff's Office reported that Bell had previously been arrested on February 23, 2024 on drug charges and was released on an appearance ticket.
Otsego County officials are at odds over a proposal to spend $160,000 for a study regarding the County Correctional Facility & Otsego County Sheriff's Office. Otsego County Administrator Steve Wilson is seeking funds for the study, while Sheriff Rich Devlin released a Statement saying that the study would be repetitive, as it has been well documented regarding the needs and issues at the County Correctional facility that have existed for many decades, he urged the County Board to deny Wilson's request for the study.

State Police received a cybertip of child sexual abuse material that was uploaded to a mobile messaging application, they arrested 21 year old Stephen Guilbault and 34 year old Dimitri Escrich both of Deposit, for Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. Guilbault was additionally charged with Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child. Guilbault was arraigned in Delaware County Court, Escrich was issued an appearance ticket and is due to appear in the Town of Deposit Court on March 25th.
Broome County Sheriff's Office announced that Correctional Facility Searches by K-9 Marley have led to Felony Drug and Contraband Charges. In Case #1 On February 14, 36 year old Heather Aviles of Owego was found to have Heroin, Aviles was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband & Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. In Case #2, On February 23, 34 year old Marvin Greene of Binghamton was flushing his toilet multiple times, which led to cell search and strip search, Greene became uncooperative, physically struggling with officers, they found synthetic cannabis. Greene was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband, Attempting to Conceal/Alter/Destroy Physical Evidence, & Obstructing Governmental Administration.
Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32 year old Chad Buyea of Norwich for Assault, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Harassment. Deputies responded to a report of child abuse, after a mother of a 17-month-old child reporting that her child had injuries to the face, after Buyea was babysitting the child, home security cameras revealed the abuse. Buyea was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on cash bail. Buyea is to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

On December 28, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office patrol observed a sedan traveling in Sherburne committing several vehicle and traffic law violations. During the traffic stop, officers located a bong used to smoke methamphetamine, a further search located methamphetamine, packaging material, scales, a large sum of money & a loaded stolen handgun. 41 year old Daniel Knochenmus of Sherburne & 50 year old Bonnie Ramsey of Sherburne were charged with several counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a weapon, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property & Criminal Use of Drugs Paraphernalia, they were remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail pending an appearance in Chenango County Court.
Rochester Police Chief David Smith gave updates today regarding the January 1st 12:50 AM crash & explosion of 2 SUV's outside the Kodak Center Parking lot. Rochester Police & the FBI investigated the possibility of a terrorist act as there were numerous gas cans in the suspects rented vehicle. The suspect, Michael Avery of Syracuse may have suffered from undiagnosed mental health problems, he died Monday night in an area hospital, 2 other people died in the incident. The investigation revealed that Avery drove to Rochester on Wednesday, checked into a hotel, renting the SUV at the local airport, bought several gas cans & gasoline, Police on the scene said that he sped up as Police were guiding motorists out of the concert venue parking lot. Avery did not leave behind any terrorist manifesto, but the investigation is continuing.
Governor Hochul has again vetoed legislation that would have changed the state’s wrongful death statute by letting families recover damages for emotional suffering from the death of a loved one. Hochul declined Friday to sign the Grieving Families Act for the second time this year, she said that the bill had the potential for significant unintended consequences, like increased insurance premiums for consumers and a risk to the financial well-being of public hospitals and other health care facilities.
The Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival Board of Directors has named Michele Ericksen as the new Executive Director, replacing Celeste Friend who had been the Executive Director since 2017. A 17 year old from North Carolina was taken into custody after the Southern Tier SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the Town of Union. On Friday, Broome County Sheriff’s Office acted on information gathered by the US Marshal’s to apprehend a 17-year-old male, who is accused of killing 2 people in Mount Holly, North Carolina last month. The fugitive was at 122 Pierce Avenue, he was apprehended after Deputies executed a search warrant & he was taken into custody without incident.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested 3 men on December 22nd, in Kirkwood, after Deputies responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident at a trailer park, they arrived to a dispute involving over a dozen individuals. 21 year old Guy Conklin of Binghamton is accused of threatening to shoot several individuals, driving into a parked car, leaving the scene and returning with 3 passengers in his vehicle. 19 year old Keith Palmer of Binghamton, was in possession of an illegal “Ghost Gun” & controlled substances. 27 year old Christopher Cady of Binghamton, was found to possess drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance, he gave police a false name, he was wanted on a warrant out of Pennsylvania on drug charges. Conklin, Palmer and Cady were arrested on a variety of charges, Conklin & Palmer were released on appearance tickets, Cady was held for extradition by the Monroe County Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Office.

Chaquasja Veale of Norwich was indicted Friday & was charged with 2nd degree murder, for the killing of 44 year old Alisa Ann Martin in her Norwich home July 6th. Veale had been staying in Martin's home, she died died by strangulation, Veale was being held on bail in the Chenango County Jail pending future court action.
The number of full-time local government workers employed outside of New York City shrank 7.9% from 2007 through 2022, according to a report by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. New York’s decline in local government employment is in contrast to the nation, which saw a 2% increase in the number of full-time employees over this 15-year period. Local government workforce levels were most impacted by two key events during this time – the Great Recession of 2007-09 and the COVID-19 pandemic. Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported 2 car motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Thompson Hollow Road and Jensen Road in the Town of Middletown Monday. Initial reports stated that 1 vehicle was on fire and the 2nd vehicle contained an entrapped person within. 2 good Samaritans heard the collision and went to the scene, they were able to extinguish the fire and provide first aid to both drivers until the arrival of first responders. 41 year old John Todd of Roxbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene, 65 year old Daniel Plummer of East Branch was extricated, he was airlifted to Albany Medical Center by Life Net and is currently in critical condition. The Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident,
The Norwich City Police Department is seeking help in identifying an individual who committed a gunpoint Robbery of Holt’s Hemp Emporium at 20 South Broad Street in Norwich this afternoon at approximately 1:10 pm. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’01, wearing light tan camouflage pants, a blue hoodie, and a black helmet with a black backpack, he displayed a handgun and left with stolen cash, he was last seen driving a red and white Yamaha racing motorcycle and on State Route 12, anyone with information is asked to contact Norwich City Police at 607-334-2424.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced more than $112.9 million has been awarded to 70 projects through the Restore New York Communities Initiative. The City of Binghamton will be awarded $2 million for the Crowley Factory Lofts project. The project, located at 149 and 135 Conklin Avenue, will restore the waterfront building's second and third floors with 48 one and two-bedroom market rate housing units. The ground floor will be flexible commercial space. Also, the City of Norwich will receive $2 million for the Norwich Hotel project, to repurpose an existing vacant, unoccupied building at 14-16 South Broad Street into a 45-room boutique hotel.

The Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 50 year old Brett Conklin of Walton was convicted for DWI In Tompkins Town Court. On Tuesday, Deputies responded to the reported theft of a truck & trailer containing a zero turn lawn mower on Mill Street in the Town of Binghamton, the truck’s owner had security cameras, & a tracking device, where the vehicle was located at Phillips Way in the Town of Binghamton, the 3 suspects, fled on foot into a creek. Deputies arrested 30 year old Heather Brewer of Endicott, 38 year old Joseph Schultz & 35 year old Ryan White of Endicott on a variety of charges including Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of stolen Property, & Conspiracy, Schultze was found to have outstanding warrants for Grand Larceny, resisting arrest, identity theft and drug charges in the State of Pennsylvania and violating parole in Albany.

The Village of Sidney Police Department responded yesterday afternoon at about 2:50 PM, to the report of a unconscious female lying in the middle of Sunset Avenue. Police were advised that the female had been struck by a vehicle, 14 year old Anielle McEwan-Lomnicki was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City & was transferred to SUNY Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where she remains in stable but critical condition with bleeding & pressure on the brain, an upper spine fracture & fractured ribs according to family, The driver, 31 year old Courtni Baker of Sidney left the scene and returned a short time later, she was charged with Aggravated DWI, with a BAC of .18 or higher, plus DWI, Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, Reckless Driving, Vehicular Assault & Escape for allegedly attempting to leave the Police Station, along with several other lesser charges. Baker was arraigned in the Town of Delhi court where she was remanded to the Delaware County Jail without bail. The investigation is ongoing which could result in more charges being filed.
The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 3 people died and another was hospitalized after they were hit by a car in Newark Valley Wednesday afternoon. According to the Sheriff’s Office, an 18-year-old man was driving south on State Route 38 around 11:20 am Wednesday and hit 4 pedestrians walking on the shoulder. 66 year old John Stephens, 25 year old Kurtis Acker & 52 year old Doreen Wood were killed, a 27-year-old woman was flown to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse in critical condition. All 4 pedestrians were from Newark Valley.
The Broome County District Attorney's office announced that 37 year old Ronald Bodden of Binghamton pleaded guilty to promoting prison contraband in Broome County Court. Bodden admitted that he possessed methamphetamines while in the County Jail on an unrelated charge, he will serve 2 to 4 years in prison on the new charges starting on March 23rd.

19 year old Payton Gendron of Conklin was sentenced to life in prison without parole yesterday, for the mass shooting of 10 people in May of 2022 at a Tops grocery store in Buffalo. Gendron pleaded guilty in November to 15 charges, including murder, attempted murder & Domestic Terrorism motivated by Hate in a state court room, today Gendron faces Federal Court action, if convicted on the federal charges, he could face the death penalty.
State Police arrested 44 year old Rodney Oakley of Plymouth, for Scheming to Defraud, 5 counts of 4th degree Grand Larceny & 8 counts of Petty Larceny. State Police received a report last November that Oakley, who was the town Highway Department Superintendent, was allegedly using town money for his own personal use, it was determined that since December 2020 Oakley allegedly had been using town funds to purchase various car parts, tools and materials for his own personal use, he was issued an appearance for the town of Plymouth Court on February 22nd.
The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, is asking for those who attended the original Woodstock Music & Arts festival at that site in 1969, to come forward & share their story. The Center is conducting its "Oral Histories Project" to document the memories of fans who attended the event. Curators from The Museum will be traveling around the country to interview those who attended. The Oral Histories Project began in 2020; over 18,00 stories have been documented. The Delaware County District Attorney's Office announced that 40 year old Adam Bright of East Meredith entered a Guilty Plea in a Vehicular Manslaughter Case. Bright pleaded guilty to 1 count of Vehicular Manslaughter and 1 count of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, in Delaware County Court this week, Bright admitted that he was using methamphetamine while driving & that he crossed the double yellow line and hit a milk truck head on, killing his passenger. Bright faces a state prison term of 1-3 years on the Vehicular Manslaughter charge, he will be sentenced to 364 days in jail for driving while his ability was impaired by drugs, which will run concurrently to the previous sentence. Bright was remanded to the custody of the Delaware County Sheriff's office, without bail, pending sentencing.

Turner was stopped for an expired vehicle inspection, he fled from deputies on foot, he allegedly attempted to dispose of methamphetamine crystals, Deputies caught Turner and recovered 11.3 grams of methamphetamines. Turner allegedly attempted to consume a large portion of the narcotics, he was transported to Binghamton General Hospital, after release he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Obstructing Governmental Administration, plus 2 traffic violation, he was processed and issued an appearance ticket to answer for his charges in the Town of Dickinson Court.

Broome County District Attorney Mike Korchak announced that Kristopher Duncan of Plattsburgh was Sentenced To Prison In Broome County Court this week. Duncan was sentenced to 4 years in State prison followed by 5 years post release supervision after pleading guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Duncan possessed an illegal loaded firearm which he discharged in a room at the Comfort Inn on Upper Front Street in the Town of Dickinson, no one was injured. Duncan has a prior felony conviction for Criminal Contempt in 2017,
Payton Gendron of Conklin will appear in a federal court room in Buffalo next Thursday, February 16th. Gendron was arrested after allegedly fatally shooting 10 people and injuring 3 others in a mass shooting at a Buffalo Tops Supermarket last May. Gendron is scheduled to be sentenced on state charges of murder as a hate crime and domestic act of terrorism motivated by hate on February 15th. Gendron could be sentenced to death if convicted on the federal charges.

The State DMV announced that the annual inspection stickers will be changing. DMV officials stated that the new print-on-demand vehicle inspection certificates will be phased in, it will add enhanced security by adding vehicle-specific information directly onto the inspection sticker. The change over will be completed by the end of 2023, but drivers with the previous inspections will continue to be allowed to have them through 2024.

37 year old Jonas Whaley was sentenced Monday in US District Court in Syracuse to 87 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Whaley admitted that he possessed 50 grams or more of a substance containing methamphetamine & he possessed 2 pistols and a revolver, which he used to protect himself while distributing the drugs. Whaley will also serve a 4-year term of post-imprisonment supervised release and will forfeit $3,600 in drug proceeds.
The Broome County District Attorney’s office announced that 42-year-old David Coffey pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon for having an illegal, loaded .40-caliber pistol in the City of Binghamton on May 25, 2021. Members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force, executing a search warrant, found the gun and small amounts of methamphetamine at Coffey’s home on Clifford Street. Coffey had previously been convicted of Assault in Delaware County in 2003, & had previously was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Petty Larceny and Conspiracy for allegedly trying to cheat a Town of Chenango resident by paying for electronics with counterfeit funds. Coffey will be sentenced to 7 years in State prison plus 5 years post-release supervision in February.

State Police arrested 29 year old Kristofor O’Rourke of Newfield, for Criminal Sexual Act and Official Misconduct. O’Rourke who was last employed by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, was previously employed by the Watkins Glen Police Department, Mt. Morris Police Department, and the Geneseo Police Department. State Attorney General Letitia James announced that her office, along with a coalition of 5 other states and the Federal Trade Commission, secured $9.4 million from Google and iHeartMedia for airing misleading ads about a Google device. Google paid Corporate radio personalities to record endorsement ads describing their positive experience using the Google Pixel 4 phone, without ever using them, the misleading ads ran in English and Spanish more than 23,000 times in 10 different markets, in violation of New York's consumer protection laws. Google and iHeartMedia will pay New York $1.58 million.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli's office audited the Downsville School District, The audit found that the board and district officials did not always ensure claims were properly audited before payment. Auditors reviewed 150 claims packets totaling $870,798 and found claims totaling $700,507 were not properly audited. School Officials also did not obtain the minimum number of quotes for nine claims totaling $18,628.

19 year old Payton Gendron of Conklin pleaded guilty today to various charges, for the May shooting at the Buffalo TOPS Supermarket, killing 10 black people & injuring 3 others. Gendron pleaded guilty to murder, murder as a hate crime and hate-motivated domestic terrorism, which carries an automatic sentence of life without parole. Gendron admitted in court that he killed the people because of their race, he still faces federal charges relating to the same attack.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a fatal UTV accident on Carcass Brook Road in the Town of Tompkins. 45-year-old William Youhas of New Jersey was operating a side-by-side Utility Vehicle When he lost control & the vehicle overturned, Youhas was partially ejected & was pinned underneath, 1st responders were not successful and Youhas was pronounced deceased at the scene.
19 year old Payton Gendron of Conklin has had his court date adjourned, due to the snow storm that dumped about 6 feet of snow on the Buffalo area since Thursday. Gendron was due in Erie County Court today to to answer to a series of charges for the fatal shooting for 10 people and the injuring of 3 others, during an attack on a Supermarket in a black neighborhood in May. Gendron is being held pending court action in for local and federal courts in the near future.
Delaware County Sheriff's deputies arrested 24 year old Henry Kaufmann of Delhi following an investigation into a 1 vehicle accident Friday night on State Highway 10 in Delhi. Deputies responded to the accident site, where the driver left the scene, Kaufmann was later located & he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, operating with no seat belt, and open container. Kaufmann was released on an appearance ticket and was scheduled to appear before the Town of Delhi Court at a later date.

The State Department of Education is now requiring all State schools to drop Native American Imagery or names as their mascots. Districts will have until the end of this school year to comply with the directive or risk the loss of funding and even school officers such as the superintendent.
Morris Central School District residents will vote on a $14.5 million capital project, which includes replacing the bus garage, roofs on the main building, repaving the parking lot and installing LED energy efficient lights and replacing flooring as necessary, installing more cameras, replacing fire doors and updating the heating of the school. 86% of the project will come from state aid and the district will use $1 million in its capital reserves fund, a public forum will be held at 5:30 PM on December 8th in the school's library. The vote will be December 13th at the school's main entrance.

Gendron was charged in federal and state courts with multiple counts of murder and hate crimes, he is being held pending the court appearances.
The Village of Sidney Police Department arrested 36 year old Thomas Wright of Oxford and 36 year old Troy Dibble of Oxford, on Burglary & Grand Larceny Charges, following an investigation of a burglary of a house on Patterson Street in Sidney. A car trailer, 2 ATV's & a number of Tools were taken from the property, it was located in the town of Oxford and the 2 men were arrested. Wright was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court, he was released on $2000 bail to appear back in court at a later date, Dibble was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court, he was released on his own recognizance to appear back in court at a later date. Sidney Police Department were assisted by the Chenango County Sheriff's Office & State Police.
The State Department of Agriculture & Markets announced that raw milk from the Nickol Dairy Farm in Otsego County was found to be contaminated with Listeria following an inspection. Department officials warned customers not to drink the unpasteurized raw milk, until more testing is complete. Governor Kathy Hochul joined Acting Superintendent Steven Nigrelli in honoring 218 new New York State Troopers as they graduated today from the 211th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy. The ceremony was held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. Today's graduation increases the State Police ranks to 4,742 sworn members. 29 of the new Troopers will report to Troop C in Sidney.
Delaware County Deputies were dispatched On April 29th to a report of a burglary at Herman’s Trailer Sales in the Town of Walton, followed by additional reports of larceny and burglary from the same location, The Investigation revealed that rare antiques and jewelry stolen from the Herman's property were sold for cash at a pawn Shop in Utica. State Attorney General Letitia James released a report on the role of online platforms like 4chan & Twitch in the Buffalo mass shooting at a Tops grocery store where 10 Black individuals were killed and 3 others were injured. James' Office reviewed thousands of pages of documents and social media content to examine how the alleged shooter Payton Gendron of Conklin used online platforms to plan, prepare, and publicize his attack. The report also said that the platforms lacked of oversight, transparency, and accountability in allowing hateful and extremist views to proliferate, leading to radicalization and violence. Gendron faces numerous state & federal charges in connection with the shooting, and could face the death penalty if convicted on the federal charges.
