State Police have released additional information about the
fatal snowmobile accident on Chipmunk Hollow Road in the town of Walton Friday
Evening. 46-year-old Jeffrey Benson of
Walton succumbed to hypothermia/cardiac arrest after he and his sled went through
ice. Benson and a friend were riding on
snowmobiles across a pond when the friend observed Benson and his snowmobile
break through the ice and went back to assist Benson unsuccessfully. The unidentified friend rode to the nearest
residence to call 911. Benson was
located up to his neck in water and was pulled out of the pond the Walton Fire
Department and EMS, Benson was deceased.
No foul play was observed.

drive-thru, he was charged with Aggravated DWI, with a Blood Alcohol Content
more than 3 times the legal limit. Lyon
was also issued numerous tickets for other infractions; he was arraigned in the
Town of Delhi Court and remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility
on lieu of $1,000 Cash Bail pending action in Town of Delhi Court at a later
date.

exercises throughout the state for the 2nd consecutive year. During these
exercises, state and local counter terrorism experts work in tandem to assess

the Department of Homeland Security has conducted more than 3,500 exercises.
