Sidney Federal Credit Union announced that they have exceeded $1 billion in assets and stands more than 72,000 members strong, which comes as SFCU celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, Vice President of Membership Andrew Smith explains:

Smith said that SFCU merged with Edge FCU in Liverpool, in October 2023 and opened a new branch in Cicero, in May, they operate 12 branch locations across parts
of 14 counties.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that President Biden has approved her request for a Major Disaster Declaration to provide federal assistance to communities impacted by Tropical Storm Debby on August 8-10. This declaration allows for federal financial assistance to support public infrastructure reconstruction efforts in several Counties, including Broome & Delaware Counties locally. A Major Disaster Declaration secures financial assistance through FEMA, and provides funding to local governments for debris removal and repairs to buildings and infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water and wastewater treatment facilities, critical infrastructure sites, schools, parks and other facilities. Grants of up to $50,000 will be available to eligible homeowners in Delaware County locally.

Delaware County Board of Elections will hold two days of in-person voter registration at the Delaware County Board of Elections, 97 Main Street, Suite 5, Delhi on Sept. 28 from 2 pm. to 9 pm. and Oct. 10 from 10 am. to 2 pm. For more information call 607-832-5321.

About 30 residents from Morris and surrounding towns met at the Morris Firehouse on May 23 for a follow-up to the news that Sidney Federal Credit Union intends to establish banking services in the Village of Morris. A fundraiser is scheduled for this Saturday at the Sidney American Legion on Union Street, for 5 year old Rowan DeCocker of Bainbridge, who is battling brain Cancer, co-organizer Brenda Flowers told WCDO News about Rowans's Treatment so far:

On Saturday, the Legion Riders will be hosting a ride to raise money at $20.00 a bike starting at 9:00 AM, The rest of the activities get underway at about 11:00 Saturday at the legion with food, bands, a corn hole tournament & about 50 raffle baskets, with proceeds going to help with Rowan's medical expenses.

The Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Web Presence Seminar for Business owners and non-profit organization leaders to review their digital marketing efforts. The seminar will be held on June 4 & will be conducted by Sean Griffin of Cornerstone Services. The free seminar will be held on June 4 in the meeting room at the Business Center at 5 ½ Main Street in Delhi, starting at 10:00 am. Attendance is limited and advance registration is required at DelawareCounty.org
The Sidney High School Flood Monitoring Team will be giving a special presentation for the public in the Smart Community Room at the Sidney Memorial Public Library Today at 6:00PM. Rich Townsend was a Science Teacher at Sidney at the start of the program in 2007, & is still guiding the program, he told WCDO about the presentation:
