41 year old Trevor Metterhauser of Pennsylvania was sentenced in a New York Federal Court room to 80 years in prison plus multiple fines for attempted aggravated sexual abuse, aggravated sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of children, and multiple counts of possession of child pornography, involving 2 toddlers, 1 in the Southern Tier & the other in Texas. As part of his guilty plea, Metterhauser admitted he conspired with Brandon Whitford to sexually exploit an a 4-year-old girl in New York & record the abuse, Metterhauser also traveled to Texas where he conspired with Carlos Ruiz to sexually assault a 2-year-old child and to record that abuse. Co-Conspirators Whitford and Ruiz have each pleaded guilty in connection with this case.

State Police announced that 18 year old Dalton Malmstrom of Nichols, who was reported missing Saturday, was found deceased in the Susquehanna River by the State Police Under Water Recovery Team and members of the K9 unit. Troopers were assisted by members of the Nichols Fire Department. Malmstrom was last seen leaving his residence in Nichols, at approximately 7:45 am. on Saturday.

The Chenango County Historical Society and the Chenango County Historian’s Office are Collaborating on this summer’s “Turtle Island” festival, part of the local commemorations of America250. historical society executive director Jessica Moquin is looking for continued participation with another Community Meeting today at the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus:

Schunk also said that the Sidney Summer Music Series begins tonight with the Sidney Community band at 6:00 PM, due to the inclement weather, the concert will at the Sidney Community Center at 1 Bridge Street, the shows will all be free.

The State DOT will host a public information meeting from 5 pm. to 7 pm. on Tuesday, July 16, pertaining to a proposed project along State Route 23 and State Route 28 in the Town of Oneonta, that may begin in the spring of 2026. The project will enhance safety, traffic flow and pedestrian accommodations State Route 23 Southside, The meeting will be held at the Southside Mall Community Room.

State Police issued 18,375 tickets statewide during the ‘Spring Safe Driving’ enforcement, from April 9th to April 14th. State Police focused on speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving and the Move Over law. Statewide, Troopers issued over 6800 tickets for Speeding, almost 1100 for distracted driving, 337 for the Move Over Law, In Troop C, Troopers issued 1120 tickets during the enforcement period.

The Mid-York Concert Band will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 2:30 PM in the Norwich High School Auditorium.  The ensemble is made possible with public funds from the Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Earlville Opera House. Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 64 year old Sherrie White of Deposit, following an investigation of a domestic dispute. Deputies reported that White was engaged in the dispute with a protected party of an order of protection, Deputies charged White with Criminal Contempt, White was processed and released on an appearance ticket for Town of Deposit Court at a later date.

The Copes Corners Park Spring Fest will take place Saturday
from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Children’s

The Annual OH-Fest Street Fair will be held on Main Street
in Oneonta from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, However, Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig announced
this morning, that the scheduled Concert in Neahwa Park has been cancelled due
to safety concerns.

The annual springtime turkey hunting weekend for young
hunters is this weekend in New York State.
Licensed hunters 12 to 15 years old are eligible for the special 2-day
hunt this weekend; they must have a turkey permit and must be accompanied by a
parent or other adult with written permission from a parent or guardian.  Shooting hours are from a half hour before
sunrise until noon.  The regular spring
turkey season starts on May 1 in upstate New York.

Measles
continues to spread in New York State with cases occurring in New York City,
Westchester County, Orange County, Sullivan County, and Rockland County.
Outbreaks are also occurring in the states of New Jersey, California,
Washington, and Michigan and several foreign countries. There have been no
cases of measles in Delaware County to date.

The City of
Norwich Spring Cleanup of yard debris will be coming soon.   City officials stated that clear bags must
be used; Brush must be tied with string; branches and no longer than 6' or
3" inches in diameter. Debris must be placed between the sidewalk and the
curb. Pickup occurs in May, exact dates will be released shortly.

About 5,000 to 6,000 people attended the Oneonta OH fest Saturday. Main Street & Neahwa Park were the main locations for activities, the annual event is a collaborative efforts of SUNY Oneonta & Hartwick College.

Broome County & the city of Binghamton announced that the Empire Road Race Series would begin on March 4th. The village of Sidney is holding their annual spring clean up events. Friday & Saturday, computers, phones, radios, TV’s metal, & appliances tires without rims will be collected from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm each day at the village Garage on Sherman Avenue.
