The National Weather Service investigators revealed that a tornado moved through the Walton area on Sunday September 25th. The tornado moved through between 6:38 and 6:41 pm. Tornado damage was located along Walton Mountain Road where trees fell in a convergent pattern, damage was also reported on Route 10 to an auto repair shop and the west branch of the Delaware River along South River Road. The Weather Service measured the tornado’s winds at EF0 to EF1.

Catholic Charities announced another successful Mass Food Distribution in Sidney on July 19th. 623 Households received food, 36 Families had 6 people or more in their household, a total of 1,742 People received over 17,000 pounds of food. 58 volunteers helped distribute the food at latest Sidney event.

18 year old Payton Gendron of Conklin was arraigned today on a federal indictment, for the May 14th Mass Shooting at a Buffalo Tops Supermarket that killed 10 & wounded 3 others. Gendron was arraigned on a 27-count indictment which was handed up last week, he could face the federal death penalty for the shooting. Gendron also faces a state charges in addition to the federal indictment.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 46 year old Gweyn Brockway of Davenport on charges of Forgery and Grand Larceny in the Town of Sidney. Brockway was working as a Home Health Care nurse, she was accused of stealing, forging and depositing checks owned by a patient and her family, totaling over $17,000. Brockway and charged her with 21 counts of Forgery and 1 Count of Grand Larceny, she was issued appearance tickets for Town of Sidney Court at a later date.

A state judge and an independent expert are now drawing up new maps, which were ordered after a judge ruled that Democrats gerrymandered the maps to get more representation & ordered new maps be drawn.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle Sunday, traveling 55 miles per hour in a 30 mile and hour zone on Meredith Street in the Village of Delhi. Deputies identified the driver as 29-year-old Toni Savino of Sidney, the investigation revealed that Savino’s driving privileges were suspended for failure to pay a driver’s responsibility assessment. Savino was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operator, Unlicensed Operator and Speeding, she was released and directed to appear in the Town of Delhi Court on a later date to answer the charges.
Delaware County Sheriff Deputies’ observed a vehicle traveling 90 miles an hour in a 55 Mile an hour zone, on State Hwy 17 in the Village of Hancock on March 22nd. Deputies identified the operator as 24 year old Malik Oliver of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Oliver’s operating privileges in New York had been suspended for failure to answer a summons in Brooklyn & there was an active Arrest Warrant for Oliver, issued by the Johnson City Court. Oliver was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle & Speeding, he was released and is to appear in the Village of Hancock Court to answer the said charges at a later date, he was turned over to the Johnson City Police Department on the Arrest Warrant.

The American Red Cross has resumed testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies. Plasma from routine donations that have high levels of COVID-19 antibodies may be used as convalescent plasma to help meet the needs of COVID-19 patients with weakened immune systems. The Red Cross reports that blood supplies remains low & individuals are urged to schedule a blood or platelet donation. The next blood drive locally will be in Sidney today from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Sidney Elks Lodge at 104 River Street. Authorities in Pennsylvania are looking for 42 year old Jeffrey Johnson of Hancock. The Wayne County Drug Task Force announced that Johnson is facing charges of possession of weapons of mass destruction, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Risking Catastrophe, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a variety of game violations. Law Enforcement officials said that during their search for Johnson, they discovered white-tailed deer hanging in the backyard with no visible harvest tags, they also discovered deer & wild turkey parts, and the remains of black bear, they also discovered a pipe bomb, rifles, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia, Johnson did not have a hunting license and was not permitted to own firearms. The Scranton bomb squad was notified and detonated the bomb on location. Anyone with information about Johnson's whereabouts are asked to contact the Wayne County Communications Center at (570) 253-3109.

In the last two days Delaware County has had a surge of positive covid-19 cases with 98 new positive cases on Tuesday & 121 Positives on Wednesday, there was 1 more COVID 19 death attributed to the virus. Delaware County Public Health announced that a limited number of COVID test kits for the public, have arrived from the State, the Office of Emergency Services is distributing the allotments to town offices.
