The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 39-year-old Lucinda Knoll has died, from injuries sustained in an attack early Friday morning.  Knoll’s former boyfriend, 48-year-old William Danielson of Oxford is now charged with 2nd degree Murder & he was arraigned on the new charge this morning & continues to be held in the Chenango County jail without bail.  Anyone with information about the early Friday morning attack at the Maple Grove Trailer Park in Norwich is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 337-1921 or 337-1863.
Firefighters from Otego responded to a fire at 195 Downey Road this morning at around 6:45 AM.  The 1 story wood frame house was fully involved when fire fighters arrived & is a total loss.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Governor Cuomo today announced that nearly $500,000 in job training grants is still available to businesses that hire long-term unemployed New Yorkers. This funding is available through the On-the-Job Training National Emergency Grant , to get those who have been out of work for 26 weeks or longer connect to available jobs in their region. Businesses received an average of nearly $7,000 per hire, in the Southern Tier Region, 124 businesses have already hired 197 workers under the program.
State Police at Sidney arrested 45 year old Charles Cole of Sidney for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop by troopers on Johnson Circle in the Village of Sidney.  Cole was released on appearance tickets returnable January 7th in Village of Sidney Court.
The Sidney Village Board of Trustees will hold a Special Board Meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center board room. The board anticipates going directly into executive session to discuss an employee matter.

State Troopers in Sidney arrested 52 year old Mark Meyers of Guilford, for fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, felony driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .15%, plus numerous  vehicle and traffic law charges.  The arrest followed a traffic stop on State Route 8 that concluded on High Bridge Road in Guilford. Meyers was arraigned in the town of Guilford court and remanded to the Chenango county jail on $8,000 bail.
The Sidney American Legion Post# 183 is sponsoring a tribute & fundraiser for the Sidney Fire Department, on Saturday September 28th, at 2:00 PM.  Legion spokesman Larry Halbert explains.

Binghamton University hosted a workshop yesterday regarding funding for small businesses, hosted by the university's Small Business Development Center. Guest speakers talked about the availability of funding so businesses can expand their businesses and commercialize products.
