Governor Cuomo announced today that Summer Day Camps Can Reopen on June 29th, a decision on sleep away summer camps has not yet been reached, plans will have to be drawn up to provide for social distancing in the sleeping areas as well as during various camp activities.

The Broome County Agricultural Society announced today that they have decided to cancel the 2020 Broome County Fair.   The Board of Directors aims to resume the Broome County Fair, July 27 to August 1, 2021.

The Bainbridge Guilford central School District will hold their public budget hearing at 6:00 PM tonight through Zoom, BG Superintendent Tim Ryan comments:

The Proposed budget is 20.1 Million dollars; the tax levy increase is 2.4%.

The first week of the Sidney
Central school District’s 9th annual Summer Camps begins on July 8, with
registration closing July 1.  This year
the District will offer the American Red Cross Babysitting Class for students
ages 11-15 on July 15th & 16th.  Registration for all weeks and camps can be

The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael
Gincerowski Jr., of Port Crane for vehicular manslaughter, Leaving the scene of
an accident resulting in death, DWI, Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor
vehicle, following a hit and run accident Saturday night in the Town of Fenton
that killed 16-year-old Constance Mazzarese of Owego.   The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded
to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving an SUV and a bicycle on State
Route 369 in the Town of Fenton just after 10:00 PM Saturday night, the driver
of the SUV left the scene, a State Trooper located the vehicle, disabled, about
a mile north of the collision.
Gincerowski was located at a nearby residence and was taken into custody.

State Police will conduct a week-long enforcement initiative to crack down on speeding and aggressive drivers, running today and through Wednesday, June 13th. Troopers will be using both marked State Police vehicles and Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement to blend in with traffic. During the August 2017 Speed Week campaign, State Police issued more than 19,000 traffic tickets including more than 7,900 for speeding, and over 580 for distracted driving. Speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one third of all fatal crashes in New York State.

Registration for the 8th annual summer camps at Sidney Central School is underway. 6 weeks of camps are set to begin the week of July 9-12, and end the week of August 13-16. Camps are for grades K-8, and run full days Monday-Thursday. Camp themes and topics include swimming, technology, athletics, photography, cooking, robotics, art, science, and many others. The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School will hold a Board of Education Meeting this evening in the District Conference Room at 6:30 PM. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:00 PM.

The 5th annual Sidney central school district summer camps will begin on Monday. A variety of interests will be covered through august 14th, and before & after camp care has been arranged with Cullman Day care.

The Walton Central School District & The Walton police state police & the Delaware county sheriffs department continue to work together following another threat to students posted on Facebook this week.  No actual incidents have occurred at the district after any of the threats against Walton elementary school students.  Security has been beefed up, and the investigation is continuing.

The Open House regarding the summer camp program is tonight at 6:00 in the Sidney high school auditorium, the summer camps are open for students outside of the Sidney district.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman today announced that he has adopted new regulations that will require nonprofit groups, “social welfare” organizations, to make better disclosures of their political campaign activities.  Effective today, nonprofits that are registered with the state will now be required to report the percentage of their expenditures that go to federal, state and local electioneering. Groups that spend at least $10,000 to influence elections will be required to file itemized schedules of expenses and contributions. Those disclosures will be available for public scrutiny on the Attorney General’s NY Open Government website (http://www.nyopengovernment.com/).
