The Greater Greene Chamber of Commerce will host their 37th Annual Arts and Crafts festival on Genesee Street in downtown Greene tomorrow. Greene Chamber President John Shearer explains:

The annual event is one of the biggest draws each year in the village of Greene, they will have many arts, crafts & food vendors set up along Genesee Street in downtown Greene.

State Police CNET team arrested 32 year old Brian Russell of Johnson City, 24 year old Jacob Parr of Johnson city and 32 year old Dane Ellis of Chenango Bridge, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, & Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, Russell & Parr were stopped in Town of Chenango, a search of the vehicle lead to the discovery of a mobile meth laboratory, ELLIS was also stopped in another vehicle where police located components used to manufacture meth.   All 3 were arraigned and were remanded to the Broome County jail without bail.
The Sidney chamber of commerce will hold the annual “arts & Music Festival Saturday on Main street in Sidney.  Chamber President Kerri Green explains:

The Binghamton Zoo announced the birth of a male Red Panda, “Zhin-Li “, the first of its species to be born at the zoo. The cub was born on June 18th  & thriving. There are 175 red pandas located in zoos throughout the United States and Canada,  Zhin-Li may not be viewable for several months, as he is with his mother in a nesting box.

This Saturday Sidney will be a busy place, with the arts & Music Festival along Main Street, and the Cullman community days at Keith Clark Park.  A new feature at Keith Clark Park this year will be talent show for anyone & everyone who wants to perform.  John Woodyshek is helping to coordinate the event:

State Health Commissioner Nirav Shah urged all New Yorkers to take protective measures to avoid mosquito bites, as cases of the West Nile virus have been reported in New York City and 5 counties.  This year, a total of 20 mosquito pools have tested positive for West Nile virus, as far north as Onondaga County, the rest were in Rockland County, New York City & Long Island.  State Health officials remind residents to wear shoes, socks, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt when outdoors for a long period of time, use mosquito repellents and remove all standing water from property from items like standing tires, bird baths, gutters or outdoor furniture, more information is available at health.ny.gov.
